Hello TA. I rewatch your videos from time to time. They relax me and help me sleep. Please do not mistake this as an insult, it is a sincere compliment. Thank you. Regards from India.

Torbjorn, this is amazing work. The detail you put into the throat is very impressive, I always enjoy your work. But more impressive is a father sharing his craft with his child. My hat off to you good Sir. Thank you.

As a sheet metal worker, I really appreciate the level of detail and craftsmanship that went into making this hammer. It looks awesome and I’d love to have it.

Hey Thunderbear, I envy you not only the art and skill you have in making simple and complicated objects but also your wonderful greenhouse surrounded by the beautiful nature of your land, a sign that what my grandfather said: "Love and respect for plants are a clue and measure of the degree of civilization of a people" is absolutely true.
You're right - this is a work of art, not a product. Not really comparable to Chinese products, or any other "products" for that matter. There's at least a couple of hundred dollars in labor in this hammer, not to mention the value of the artistry/craftsmanship. And the Chinese products aren't so much "bad", they're just low on the cost/value curve - and that's what a lot of people want.

You are the Master of your tools!! You even have great finesse with your power hammer. Your yard and greenhouse are absolutely beyond description Be Safe Keep them coming
Like how your furnace is traditionally back to I don’t know when ! with good exhaust , and making tool I hope there’s still tradespeople still working.
I always like to watch someone make things on their own. I've learned many things from TH-cam. The two things that were to my advantage was how to heat treat and temper metal parts, for making the mounts for a larger gas tank on my motorcycle, the hinge for my solo seat and the cross bar to mount the two springs under the back of my seat. The other was how to do a perfect paint job on the gas tank using spray paint. For the record, I'm not a real wizard, it's just a nickname I was given as I'm self-taught in many things that have been useful not only in my life but also for family and friends as I saved them money from not hiring a professional to do something.
I dont know why it is, but I just love seeing a hammer formed from a small piece of metal. I cant forge anything (except flat blade screwdrivers when I had metalwork in school back in 1974/5). I watch allsorts of forging vids, but the hammer has to be my fave followed by candle sticks. Seeing different hammers being forged never fails to amaze me at the different ways and tools that are used . Well dont. I have subbed. :)
There is something so amazingly seductive about the sound of a Bêchè air hammer! I could listen to it all day. That hammer is so amazingly beautiful, not to mention the grapes and melon. Thank you for these wonderful videos.
Your videos are well made and inspiring. I especially liked the technique you showed to make the oval handle on the lathe. So nice that you teach your boy normalising and hardening while still so young. The stuff you learn from your father stays with you your whole life!
Nice hammer head! As a retired tin smith, a well made and nicely balance head allows longer, more comfortable use. It was also nice to see the proper handle grain-to-head alignment and hanging of the head. Well made handles are equally important for comfort and long tool life. Glad to see "Junior" getting involved in a honourable trade. Greetings from Alberta, Canada.

Beautiful creation! Meaningful and peaceful work is rewarding, even so to watch you work. Glad to see teaching the young one as well. Thank you TB for capturing a few minutes of your life and sharing it with us.
I like the polishing on the two ends of the hammer. A better polish leaves less imprints on the metal being struck. Great example of offset turning! And perfect grain orientation on the handle. When I make handles I find it as fast to rough them out on the bandsaw and finish them by hand as you ended up doing. Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Mark
Nothing more heartwarming than seeing a young boy helping his father at the forge.
Not sure if I'm more impressed about your blacksmithing skills or ability to grow perfect grapes and melons.
Seriously what a cool greenhouse!
How big is that greenhouse i wonder
