    I said the same thing on X (Twitter), why are you trying to spend your hard earned money in a racist establishment? Why?! You are the majority in that country, don’t spend your monies in a place like that. Dont patronise their businesses, but you want to protest! And people are leaving comments on here saying Seun is wrong 😂😂😂, you lot don’t get it..

      Most black folks who intend to shop on 5th Ave, don’t dress decent or present themselves in a receiving manner.

    When you go to the Shrine, you go there to enjoy music and a great environment of all walks of life.
    A restaurant or supermarket should always be open to the general public who may be so interested in trying out the food(s).

    Seun, any form of discriminations is evil, it's worst when it's coming from someone who thinks very little of you. They do the same in their country, we can't fight them but, when they d it here, the disrespect is in another level.
    I agree with you that there's classism in Nigeria, but we don't need an outsider to join to look down on us.

  • @louisedet82
    @louisedet82 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Interesting take on the issue... I'd say though that 2 things can be true at the same time. Seun is right, fellow Nigerians exclude fellow Nigerians, at the same time, foreigners excluding the locals from their establishment in their own space is wrong and it warrants the reactions of the people. At the surface, it looks like just exclusion but there might be something deeper.
    Also, someone might use that argument when we talk about racism....after all, there's tribalism, does it stop us from condemning racial acts? How about when you discuss transatlantic and Sub-Saharan slave trade, the white person will remind you that your people also took fellow Africans into slavery or even helped sell his people to slavery, and we get upset when such comparisons are used and we tell them that, they're completely different situations.
    2ndly, everywhere in the world, there's exclusion amongst the same groups of people. There are challenges within each group but a foreigner going into their space and posing the same challenge will be met with a similar reaction.
    Within an Hispanic community for instance, there are family problems....tia having problems with Abuela etc, but let an outsider go there and pose an issue and see how they will gang up against the outsider! It is human instincts to be more aggressive towards an alien than towards their own kind for similar offenses, this isn't good cause either way we shouldn't tolerate evil from anyone but this is reality.
    There are things you tolerate from a family member that If an outsider tries it, you'd be more intolerant of it, thus, any where in the world, people will have a similar reaction, some places might actually take it farther than just locking up the store.
    I remember when H$M the clothing store did what was deemed as a racist advert in South Africa....well, that store didn't just get locked! And the same country is known for the xen....attacks in fellow blacks.
    Ultimately, we are human beings, we are far from taking the ideal actions in every situation!

    bros, my view is , outright restriction and graded participation are two different things, and the salt in this injury is foreigners trying to create this inhumane barricade in whatever space within our own country. i think, its unacceptable. Nigerians should insist, since we dont block Chinese out of our own supermarket. another why could be proximity, choice etc. brother, some how , you seem to meshing topics...

    Seun Kuti:
    Your understanding of the Bible is equally as egregiously shallow as your analysis of what you believe could possibly make Africa free. As usual, you are very totally misguided.
    You are resoundingly wrong that the ultimate glory of a Christian is not to see everyone else burning in hell and being tortured. That is your own warped perception and interpretation of what you think Christianity is all about, and you are, once again, completely in error.

    See how committed the Chinese are at ensuring their people's wellbeing no matter where they are in the world. Almost every major city outside of China has a neighbourhood dedicated to their people's need. Maybe we should learn from them and take care of our people in Nigeria, much less outside. Leave the Chinese supermarket alone and create supermarket that sell Nigerian products to Nigerians. Thats what we need.
