Petepdx1 well couture means high fashion. Most couture pieces are not meant to be worn like everyday clothing and are more to be collected and admired. Haute couture is to showcase a designers artistic vision and craftsmanship through clothing. People who buy these pieces are couture collectors and have the money to spend or are so rich they collect as a hobby. It isn’t supposed to be practical or for everyone to wear tbh. Many couture admirers would kill to own at least one couture piece from designers such as Guo Pei, who are pushing the boundaries of high fashion.
Also, most of the people who attend these shows see something they like and then afterwards have like 200 alterations made to it until it becomes something wearable:)
Yes, you could make a strong argument that these creations are "textile art" pieces (and they are!), but haute couture should be more sophisticated and less bluntly theatrical than this. Still, there's no denying that the imagination from which these costumes were drawn is prodigious. I'd love to see what Ms. Pei would design for the Metropolitan Opera's productions.
This is really couture on another level, the craftsmanship, the idea, the different fabrication, the beading and the whole assemble is just out of this world. GP is really talented !
That moment Guo Pei, a Chinese Haute Couture designer has a more diverse pool of models than American and European designers lmao. For real though. I would die to have a glimpse into her extraordinary mind.
Consrignrant she utilizes women from all over the world. There are 3 or 4 African models here. Her earlier work was mostly Asian women. She tends to hire a lot of taller women. Maybe for effect.
It don't wearable or unwearable but it's the artwork of designer which represent to their intelligence, ability and creativity. It's a real of Haute couture!

please watch old collections of McQueen, Galliano. Throw in some Givenchy, YSL and Chanel for good measure. You’ll find aspects of this show done before. No hate to Guo Pei. but yet creepily reminds of Mcqueen’s greatest works.
Fernando Fuentes - I was about to say that McQueen broke the mold, but many of these looks hark back to Chinese court dress - in particular the shoes, the nails, and the elaborate jewels and magnificent embroidery. The whole presentation reminded me of an exotic court ball, where the attendees are presented to the emperor.
As a model trainee, I'm so jealous how they all nailed walking on those beautifully difficult clothes. Especially on those heels damn. I applaud these models 👏👏👏

Why people are comparing this collection to Alexander McQueen? Obviously a lot of people knows nothing about fashion around here. This collection is super beautiful. Totally Chinese inspired shapes and motives.
Danny Valentin There are obvious similarities between this collection and some of the last ones McQueen designed. Overly high, strangely rounded shoes, stiff dresses, intricate beading, pastel tones, symmetrical, alien-like hairdo's on the models etc. But all of this is something many couture houses have done before. Just because it's similar it doesn't mean GP copied McQueen or it doesn't have Chinese themes to it.
Because people dont actually know ANYTHING and just hear Alexander's name and know about lady gaga and just want to act like they know what they're talking about lol go to any other fashion show video that has some weird intricate designs and you'll be seeing the same shit lol
I think a lot of people saw the shoes and weird hair and a lot of gold-It's definitely lazy to compare it to McQueen. That whole 'white and gold' thing he did at Givenchy was just to make a break from Galliano, and it wasn't even a collection he himself liked. There is a risk of people drawing comparisons when you go towards the mythical, fairytale look. Anyone who has an interest in fashion can see the Chinese influence here. If someone's going to compare it to McQueen, they could just as easily turn around and draw another blatant comparison, like the use of gold to Klimt's 'The Kiss'. The shoes and restricted dresses and bading aren't exclusive to Alexander McQueen.

Taken out of context of the group (i.e. a tree trunk) it does seem really odd. But once you discover the others, (flowers, leaves, fairytale, etc.) It not only makes sense, but becomes beautiful. You can see and feel the inspiration play through the artist's mind, their hands. Then the final performance, everything takes on a whole new level of incredible as the stage brings the creations to life. It's breathtaking really. Not just the clothes, but the amount of time, love, and dedication it took to create something so unique and lovely.

There were a few looks where it was clear the girl could not possibly fall without snapping multiple bones...in particular the one look all in gold, where the girl was encased in some sort of metal frame that held her rigidly in position, and her forearms were enclosed in golden gauntlets that extended past her elbows so she couldn't bend her arms. If she fell, it would be the end of her life as she knew it.
As an Asian, I found it so Asian, finally there was an haute couture shown Asian culture and history value in the right way. Western fashion had tried to show the west meet the east for rich customers in Asia but in a very misunderstood way.

It was a little anticlimatic!

because it makes you think of the previous designer. A copy even though studded with diamonds is still a copy. I remember when McQueen’s and Galliano’s presentations. Ken Lim in fashion everything is a inspiration of something from the past. Everything has been done before so there isn't anything new per say. However her level of craftsmenship I would not say is a copy except the shoes can be seen as a homage to McQueen.

Breathtaking! Beautiful remarkable creations here. Artist and team clearly worked hard and long for this. Head to toe thoughtful pieces. Bravo, great show! 💐 In my dreams I would be a model wearing one of these gorgeous gowns!
Decided to try and Shazam as many songs as possible that was used for the show, simply because I think proper credit should be given to the artists of all the music, because without the music the show wouldn't nearly have been as fantastic as it was. Here's the list in the order that they are played: 1) 0:00 Professor Marston and The Wonder Women - Tom Howe 2) 0:17 ??? (the only one I had trouble finding, if anyone knows please comment so I can edit and add to the list, thank you) 3) 2:08 The Starship Avalon (Main Title) - Thomas Newman 4) 7:30 Riding the Train - Danny Elfman 5) 12:05 Rachel's Song - Vangelis 6) 19:03 Walking In The Air - Celtic Woman 7) 21:14 Into the Jungle - Henry Jackman 8) 24:09 Loyin Loyin - Babatunde Olatunji
Mcqueen was better, 100% nobody will ever beat him. But this was beautiful, i just don’t feel anything the same way i felt with mcqueen. Mcqueen was just so natural in a way...
I just saw the Guo Pei show at the art museum in San Francisco. EIGHTY pieces, many of which were in this video. She has a shop of 300 classic Chinese embroiderers and one of the dresses took them 50,000 hours to complete, using 24K gold threads that were so fine that they broke after three stitches and had to be reknotted with tweezers. Stunningly beautiful creations. Now THIS is wearable fine art!
The Make up, the design, the details, the stage, the models are all beautiful! This was 2018 but I watched it just now (in 2019), sure its late but if I can have an opportunity to come & see to the next fashion show, I will be very grateful... So beautiful & strongly unique.. The details are amazing! Well done!
all art needs to move toward the unmatchable, i'm seeing it more and more and its the only way to survive the giants of industry. although i think music is all still quite lazy as a discipline. Anyway, enough rambling from me. These pieces are exquisite, and i love the discomfort with the shoes - emphasises the fear and uncertainty of our planet's future. mazing! x
Panto couture, Lady Ga Ga will love this..amazing work, totally unpractical especially the shoes but rather wonderful.. this is all an extension of couture from hundreds of years ago !
I am not a fashionista and this is in my recommendation, so I watched the whole video only because the dresses are just so beautifully designed master piece that caught me away, it is a work of art.
plus we see how slowly these models are moving... lots of times models are pressured to go faster than they can go but they try anyway because it's their job
REALLY ??? After seeing this ... th-cam.com/video/ba95MXTaa4Q/w-d-xo.html And Tell me about it . The EXACT SAMPLE how professional """MODELS""" are today.
Absolute, pure, fairy tale MAGIC. East meets West, old meets new...I've been totally transported to a place too beautiful to be real. I can't explain how I felt watching this. Thank you.

And also, practical ones that didn't need instructions to walk in.
Them shoes 🔥
AZEEZ MUGLER_ I know like geez
This collection is so different from McQueen. Complete different styles.
AZEEZ MUGLER_ yeeessss
the best show and collection of the Haute Couture by 2018
Definitely
This is literally how I feel Forest spirits would dress up as
Decided to try and Shazam as many songs as possible that was used for the show, simply because I think proper credit should be given to the artists of all the music, because without the music the show wouldn't nearly have been as fantastic as it was.
Here's the list in the order that they are played:
1) 0:00 Professor Marston and The Wonder Women - Tom Howe
2) 0:17 ??? (the only one I had trouble finding, if anyone knows please comment so I can edit and add to the list, thank you)
3) 2:08 The Starship Avalon (Main Title) - Thomas Newman
4) 7:30 Riding the Train - Danny Elfman
5) 12:05 Rachel's Song - Vangelis
6) 19:03 Walking In The Air - Celtic Woman
7) 21:14 Into the Jungle - Henry Jackman
8) 24:09 Loyin Loyin - Babatunde Olatunji
Unbelievable. McQueen level. Never thought someone this talented would ever be seen again.
Sylla Atlas above and beyond McQueen..
Betty Wilma That I doubt though
Sylla Atlas oh, there is no doubt
Have you seen the Paolo Sebastian once upon a dream collection
Mcqueen was better, 100% nobody will ever beat him. But this was beautiful, i just don’t feel anything the same way i felt with mcqueen. Mcqueen was just so natural in a way...
Always the same, people see an extravagant couture show and start screaming "ALEXANDER MCQUEEN, ALEXANDER, ALEXANDEEEEER" pathetic
WHO is Alexander McQueen?
We have ourseld a snob.
Exactly, like their Queen hasn’t gone mainstream and completely run the brand down to the ground 👎🏾
Guo honors the ART
@@tkjspeaks1491 yeah especially those shoes
Absolutely whimsical ♥
I just saw the Guo Pei show at the art museum in San Francisco. EIGHTY pieces, many of which were in this video. She has a shop of 300 classic Chinese embroiderers and one of the dresses took them 50,000 hours to complete, using 24K gold threads that were so fine that they broke after three stitches and had to be reknotted with tweezers. Stunningly beautiful creations. Now THIS is wearable fine art!
Sumpah dari musik, latar, baju, sepatu. Keren semua. Ini baru fashion show
magnificent....and those shoes...oh my!
Im thankful that it got into my recommendations 😍
omg the heels
"This isn't wearable fashion"
My RPG character fighting the final boss: 0:30
Very creative!!! Love some of the ideas and details on their hairs, crowns, and dresses.
When art moves. I love everything about this show. EVERYTHING..
If only I could escape from my reality and just be a fairy princess
This is absolutely mesmerizing. Just stunning.
The Make up, the design, the details, the stage, the models are all beautiful! This was 2018 but I watched it just now (in 2019), sure its late but if I can have an opportunity to come & see to the next fashion show, I will be very grateful...
So beautiful & strongly unique.. The details are amazing! Well done!
I find this fashion show oddly soothing.
These pieces makes me think of fairies. Like something Shakespeare's fairy queen Tatiana would wear.
Wow... Trulllllly amazing, feel like i m jump to the fairy tale jungle
This is so eerie in the most enchanting way.
These are GORGEOUS and so extra
Imagine going to a gala and wearing one of these looking like living art!
Absolutely stunning. Every minute of it.
One word to describe:
STUNNING
OMG only one word I can say stunning fashion show
There is an unspoken beauty within the expressions of discomfort.
Every piece is stunning!
This is one of the *most beautiful* fashion shows I have ever seen! 😭💕💕💕
this is really exciting stuff. Death to mass production!
all art needs to move toward the unmatchable, i'm seeing it more and more and its the only way to survive the giants of industry. although i think music is all still quite lazy as a discipline. Anyway, enough rambling from me. These pieces are exquisite, and i love the discomfort with the shoes - emphasises the fear and uncertainty of our planet's future. mazing! x
took my breath away, absolutely beautiful
Beautiful, like majestic golden goddess/ fairies from another world.
What a beautiful creative work 👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤
The clothing is beautiful. Loved watching
Embroidery olympics!!!
Panto couture, Lady Ga Ga will love this..amazing work, totally unpractical especially the shoes but rather wonderful.. this is all an extension of couture from hundreds of years ago !
Yes, I think her inspiration is mostly from ancient China, and she just gives it a twist with her vision.
robertsmithe100 - Nobody invited ANYBODY to comment...including you. We're all here for the love.
Exactly Gaga will love that dress
This is so camp. Met gala is life.
Avant garde. Not camp
Camp has nothing to do with this darling... Educate yourself.
@@persephone2706 you can put emoji on you're reply so you won't sound too harsh 😅🤓
@@lucaslucas5526 But... I like sounding harsh. 😂
I am not a fashionista and this is in my recommendation, so I watched the whole video only because the dresses are just so beautifully designed master piece that caught me away, it is a work of art.
...best runway show i've ever seen..❤️❤️❤️
Wow this designer is born to make for gorgeous fantasy dress 😱😱😱😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏💯💯👍👍
Inspiration for the spirit.
At least those models didn't fall . Nowadays , most ""models"" don't even know how to walk like a model .
ceciLOVEtaco look at her shoes !!! If you walk like a model with this, post the video on TH-cam and tag me 😂👍!
not the model's fault that most designers want to design shoes but have no clue how to build a stable shoe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
plus we see how slowly these models are moving... lots of times models are pressured to go faster than they can go but they try anyway because it's their job
REALLY ??? After seeing this ... th-cam.com/video/ba95MXTaa4Q/w-d-xo.html
And Tell me about it . The EXACT SAMPLE how professional """MODELS""" are today.
ceciLOVEtaco GIRL. look at that video you sent. look at how the shoes bend and twist. you can tell just by looking that they don't fit right
Absolute, pure, fairy tale MAGIC. East meets West, old meets new...I've been totally transported to a place too beautiful to be real. I can't explain how I felt watching this. Thank you.
That was amazing!
