"Just a dog" I mean, when a tornado ripped through my town a couple of years ago, and the local shelter didn't allow pets to be brought in for reasons, I chose to just hunker down at my house with my puppy dog and elderly cat because I made a commitment when I adopted them. My cat alone has been with me for 17 years now (and my dog is now 4 years old), and I am not going to abandon her to the elements when nature goes crazy. I didn't want to be in a tornado path, but these two creatures were trusting me to keep them safe. On a side note, we now have a personal storm shelter built with all the comforts needed to keep my cat and dog calm and comfortable if we need to take shelter in the future. Pets are family, and you don't abandon your family.
I would do the same thing. This sounds horrible but I would rather put down my animals than to leave them abandoned and have them hurting and heartbroken that I left them and wondering when I'm coming back, leaving them to get preyed on or abused. It always makes me sick when I see videos of people dropping off their animals at random sites where the animals can't find their way home or tying them up in bags and tossing them in the river, ALIVE. No wonder some of those poor animals don't trust humans after that and are totally broken. 💢

There is actually some rewatch value to this movie. The twist at the end makes the ‘oh the dog was replaced with a beaver’ kinda more literal as the dog could’ve turned into one and was more of a foreshadowing bit. That also being said at least they didn’t bring the puppy back as a beaver

Great review as always. Two things: You don't look a gift horse in the mouth, because when buying livestock, you check it's health, including its mouth to check out it's dental health. As horses are expensive, if someone is giving you one, something must be wrong with it, so don't look it in the mouth to find out the catch. As far as animals, I love my two rabbits. If my house was on fire I would run in after them. However, being objective, they're just rabbits. As much as I hate to say it, I would save any random person over them. I'd probably end up dying running back in to save them after the person though. If I was that girl, I would tell the guy, I get it, but I'm settling this after we're safe.

The saying comes from some of these gifted horses having issues, a lot of which could be identified by examining inside their mouths, wolf-teeth, as an example, can cause pain to a horse with a lot of things, such as eating, and wearing a bit and bridle, back then, if the horse can't work, it's a waste of space, and if it can't eat, it's a lost cause. and thus, the only thing those horses could be used for is dog food and glue. It's sad, but I'm pretty sure that's where the saying "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" originated.
