I think because Gainax technically doesn't own the rights to Nadia (nor would Anno and thus Khara) something like a "rebuild" of Nadia is highly unlikely to happen. IMO Nadia is fine if you skip the island episodes and ignore the movie. It's a well made and competently told story that goes above and beyond anything required of a kids show. I'm just grateful that it exists and turned out as well as it did despite its production apparently being a bit of a shitshow.
