the wrecking ball imagery/theme (whatever word it is) always makes me tear up. giovanni’s “i don’t wanna just crash into your life and wreck everything, yknow?” has me BURST into tears man
also, i love the choice to have molly and lorelai’s relationship crack under the pressure instead of be wrapped up and reconciled by the end of the book! it’s realistic and it makes sense, and even though it’s not *good*, as you said it’s a start of their healing process, as they’ve finally acknowledged how they feel about each other and themselves. i have the reading comprehension of a 5th grader so that probably sounds really obvious but i liked the video and the book so uhhhh ❤❤❤
After reading the entire prison of plastic. The two parts which broke me was Molly's mental break down, and Odi's backstory. Btoh which ahd amde a grown ass man like me, cry.
This analysis made me fall in love with this book all over again, during my time reading it I was fully immersed with the message and especially Molly’s monologue, but when I was finished nothing stuck with me, it hit me like a truck the first time but I didn’t fully process it, just the reminder sends chills down my spine, makes my eyes hot because it’s just so raw, and being said by a child, written by an adult sure but like someone who would say this believably because of how she grew up just punched you in the stomach in the best way
95% of the thinsg in prison of plastic makes me wanna cry. Especially lorelai. She copes the same way I do which is great to see bad also saddening. Molly deserves so many good things and it sucks that all this stuff happened to her and it makes me so happy that she's getting the proper treatment she deserves. Rick is amazing, my sad boy. And I didn't expect to related to trixie as much BUT HERE WE ARE. and I love feenie, she's such a gem and I love her lines. Srry I went off I JUST LIVE THIS SERIES
COUNTDOWN AND GREAT AT CRIME ARE SOME OF MY MOST FAVOURITE SONGS EVER- COUNTDOWN IS SO LYRICALLY RICH AND GAC IS JUST A “bounce around you’re room while cleaning it and halfway forgetting what you’re doing because you’re jamming so hard” BOP
It’s almost cathartic to me Molly needs a wrecking ball and Giovanni is admittedly scared to wreck her life but would do it if she asked no questions. He’d rather the world burn then Molly.
4:15 honestly, what i feel doesn't bode well for future epithet erased content is that brendan in a QnA said that he usually doesn't focus on long running projects for too long, which on one hand i can understand, but on the other, i really hope we get another novel or, and this is really stretching it, another season!
Ya but since he Said it would take him like 5 seasons to do Epithet erased then he's probably at least gonna do s2 (especially since I'm pretty sure s2 was a Kickstarter goal for the book)
Incredible analysis, you really captured the core of what makes this series so strong in my eyes, empathy being a two way street, and the stage performance that is society, feels like underutilized themes in stories that people need to see more of in their lives. Excellent analysis I would love to see more in the future. Also if you want to see more of Mera you're in luck the next book is a prison break story with Mera as the lead.
2:09 fun fact if you open the captions this dork says it OUTLOUD. its captioned as “teleports behind you..” not “[teleports behind you.]” like actions are with brackets!
And now I’ve watched the series and read the ebook(the audiobook isn’t available to me). Thank you so much for this video! Epithet Erased is now one of my favorite stories 💚
I love Epithet Erased! I found out about this series from friends a bit over a year ago and then when I recently remembered it and rewatched as well as got the audio book, it became my next hyper-fixation. This was an amazing analysis!
Am I missing something. This series has been review bombed with positive written reviews on IMDB corresponding with a 1/10 ratings on the very same reviews.
That initially confused me, too. I think the positive 1-star reviews are an inside joke/meme that Epithet Erased's creator encouraged. It's also worth noting that IMDB isn't a perfect gauge of people's thoughts on a show. Dead End: Paranormal Park has a disproportionate number of 1-star reviews from people who haven't even watched an episode of it -- they just hate the fact that there are LGBTQ characters in the main cast.

"Zora isn't chaotic (or something like that"
Also Zora: "I spit in his mouth"
"Lighting yourself on fire only to keep yourself warm" is a fire line
I’ll tell you right now I was in TEARS because of this analysis and then the next thing in my watch later list? “BARRIER!”

Giovanni is the best character

that book had me in big stupid tearsss
Welp you made me watch the entire first season on youtube and seriously thinking of buying the audiobook. AND I LOVE IT.
I just bought the audiobook and started it. Man the quality is so good.
We're gonna see More of Ramsey, Mera and Indus in part 3 (I think it's part 3 at least).

Prison of Plastic really just kinda makes the case for the Bliss Ocean anti-epithet ideology we saw with Zora, huh?
okay so the first 5 seconds alone is worth Everything
That intro>>>
I beg to differ about the animatiom because it is most of the charm
Oh I love the animation - I just know people who would critique it without appreciating its charm.
HELL YEAH!! Epithet Erased is another one of my favourite series’ along with toh!!

Amazing analysis!
Gets a sub for the first ten seconds.
Fantastic video!
