YOURE A GENIUS chrome has been impossible for me everyone says to do it differently. buffing, layer of black gel for 90 seconds then top coat is PERFECT!!!
hi, I'd just like to say that i am always unhappy with the way that nail techs do my nails so i finally decided to try and do gel nails at home for the first time and i used this tutorial to do a silver stars on black design and it came out sooo beautifully, I am so happy with it! your tips helped me so much, thank you for making this video!
You did an amazing job with your nails 💅. I love it! And THANK YOU so much for explaining how to do the chrome polish nicely in a thorough way too. You get right to the point instead of talking too much about nonsense. 🙏
This was phenomenal. I’m going to practice now and see how this works out for me. Thank you I’ll feel so much more confident doing chrome on my clients.
Well this video was perfectly done. Def subscribed without hesitation. You went to so much trouble to show these different examples! I’m totally impressed.
Now I have to say, I visited a nail shop and requested this design as it's just so beautiful. They turned out nice, not as beautiful as yours, which you'd expect considering the price I paid. But I was really disappointed with the stars, which looked irregular and the chrome didn't look smooth, and now I know why. In all honesty, I just can't with nail shops anymore, hence why I love your channel. Your perfectionism speaks to me, and I'm having fun learning how you do my own nails.
Thank you for doing a video like this! I literally did matte base and did the stars for my client, and it just wasn’t working out and I was so embarrassed
If the gel I’m using cures with a tacky layer, I use alcohol or acetone to remove it and then I go in and buff. Alternatively, if there’s potential to lose or compromise that colour by cleansing it or buffing it, I will do a layer of no-wipe topcoat, cure and then buff. Hope that helps x
@@bonniechoi7712 Sorry Bonnie, it’s the liner, I don’t know why I left that out 😅 The black and white haven’t been in stock for a while so I’ve been using the Beetles liners instead and they’re pretty similar x
I love this so much thank you so much for the great video!! Can you list the base color you used because I love that tone and cannot find anything that has that look.
So glad you enjoyed it! I actually used the Wonderlust colour gel from Medusa which hasn't been in stock for a while, but they do have a soft gel polish option here: www.medusanails.com/product/009-wonderlust/ I actually alternate between Wonderlust, Cover Peach: www.medusanails.com/product/cover-peach/ Celestine: www.medusanails.com/product/celestine/ and if you're in the UK, Luxe from 516 Polish is identical to Wonderlust, just less pigmented/more buildable - 516polish.com/products/luxe-gel?_pos=2&_sid=1cc626d92&_ss=r. Please do note that all the gels mentioned (besides the first link) are hard gels. If you'd like me to suggest soft/soak-off gel alternatives, let me know.
Hello, thank you so much for this useful video! I love all your content btw. A quick question, maybe I've missed it in the description, what is the reference of your nude base coat? If you have others recommendations for nude I am all ears.
Thank you! I used Luxe from 516 Polish which wasn't in stock at the time, but you can get it here: 516polish.com/collections/516-gel-nudes/products/luxe-gel ☺
I think it’s the actual top coat I’m not entirely sure, I was thinking this because how has the gel colour cured with ought a tacky layer unless she wiped it off ?
If you want a true chrome/metal finish then yes, you should use a gel polish that cures with a no-wipe surface for your chrome designs. If you use a gel that cures with a sticky surface you will get a glittery finish
I had it custom-made by a fellow nail tech and resin artist here in the UK, let me know if you want her handle. Otherwise, Amazon, eBay and AliExpress have a bunch if you search "nail art palette ring"
@@memnailss I would love to support another fellow nail tech! If you could send me her info via email or Instagram I’d greatly appreciate it. So much! 🙏🏽💕
I'm assuming you mean how do I not buff away the colour? If so, I always gently use a lower grit buffer such as a 180 grit or the less course side if you have a double-sided buffer. This just polishes/makes the surface matte vs refining/take away layers. Hope that helps
Wait does that mean for the striped nail with left and right comparison, for the right side you went over the black coloured lines with no wipe gel topcoat ?
On the left side I used a regular "overlay gel polish" that cures with a sticky layer (aka inhibition layer) and on the right I used an "art gel" which cures with a no-wipe surface (the formula may have a no-wipe topcoat built into it). Hope that makes sense
I have seen people create beautiful chrome designs with that method, it's just never worked for me personally. Especially when trying to achieve precise & intricate chrome details
OMGGG I live this!

Wow! Not only do I love this set, but I really appreciate your advice on how to get chromes to work well. Great tips and very well done video.
ur little hacks r so helpful, like buffing instead of matte top coat & builder gel before the final top coat.. you’re very underrated!!

Thank you so much! It was so helpful! You solve all my questions and I’m anxious to do my nails rn, they are prep and ready! Thank you!😗😗😗😗
What I was looking for, thank you for the detailed explanation ❤
For the matte nail, you are supposed to put a top coat only over the chrome part, cure it, and then wipe it off with an alcohol wipe.
Sounds like more work though
I could listen to your voice all day! Also tutorial was really informative but the voice though!!!
🥰 Thank you!
Why did I not know you had a TH-cam channel 😮❤

Hi!! Thank you so much for making this video. Are you buffing the tacky layer off normal gel color, with no top coat on?
If the gel I’m using cures with a tacky layer, I use alcohol or acetone to remove it and then I go in and buff. Alternatively, if there’s potential to lose or compromise that colour by cleansing it or buffing it, I will do a layer of no-wipe topcoat, cure and then buff. Hope that helps x
@@memnailss why no wipe in particular? Has this method not worked with standard ones?
Are you buffing the actual nail or over the matte top coat? x
I came to all the same thing…
This is absolutely amazing. I must ask, are you adding no wipe top coat to the black gel colour?? Mine always smudge. Drives me mad xx
Thank you! I use Candy Coat & Beetles Liners which are a no-wipe formula
What brand no wipe Black polish did you use? Having a hard time finding one
I used the candy coat liner in black, but the beetles liner gel (in black) also works when cured for 90 seconds
so helpful!!!!!!
Absolutely love your works!! May I ask what brand is the black gel polish that you used for the chrome powder ?
Thank you! It's from Candy Coat x

Did u already mix the non wipe clear with the black color? Without the non wipe, the chrome won’t be shinny.

Where are the rings from?!! So cute!
Thank you! They're all from a store on AliExpress called Annenjery x
Do you buff over the color by itself? Or does it have a top coat and the u buff?
I think it’s the actual top coat I’m not entirely sure, I was thinking this because how has the gel colour cured with ought a tacky layer unless she wiped it off ?
Does gel that cures tacky still do the glitter thing if you wipe off the sticky layer? Or would it just not stick at all?
It might not stick at all, and it can appear almost faded even it does, but this depends on the brand and formula you’re using.
Hey, thanks for the video. My chrome slides off all the no-wipe top coats I have. Do you know what I could be doing wrong? Xx
You probably cured it for too long
So does the Black need to be no wipe or can it be normal Black gel!?? I’m so confused
If you want a true chrome/metal finish then yes, you should use a gel polish that cures with a no-wipe surface for your chrome designs. If you use a gel that cures with a sticky surface you will get a glittery finish

How do you buff nail without taking the color off
Anyone have issues with applying the chrome over a matte top coat, then applying a glossy topcoat and it peeling off?
I have seen people create beautiful chrome designs with that method, it's just never worked for me personally. Especially when trying to achieve precise & intricate chrome details
Why does the base coat have to be black for chrome?
It doesn’t, I just used black because that’s what I always use. You can use any gel that cures with a no-wipe surface or even a no-wipe topcoat
