I hope the next two generations of these action cameras will yield 4k 120fps 240 fps or even 8k capability . This makes the next decade of 2020 - 2029 extremely interesting and exiting .

I've gotten the opportunity to create a product presentation video for the CES 2017 in Las Vegas. I filmed with an action camera prototype, the new Xiaomi Yi 4K+. This camera has inside the new Ambarella H2 SoC processor, which gives you the possibility to record 4K with 60 frames per second and a bitrate with 100Mbps. All in this small size factor, really impressive.
The good thing for me is, i'm not paid to promote this product. I can say my honest opinion. Actually i'm really impressed by this product and hope they make some major improvements in the final version. The lens has some ugly vignetting which i tried to remove in post. I can not definitely evaluate the camera, because:
Filming with the prototype was really pain in the ass:
- no battery indicator
- stops recording when the battery is empty, but the diplay is still on
- no record led indicator (display is not bright enough) or sound beep
- no memory space indicator
- remove battery to power off, when the cam is in the gimbal
- i mounted the circular ring from a GoPro to avoid lens flare

I watched this on my MacBook air and it was... OK... but then I watched it on my 75" 4K UHD Samsung TV and it blew me away! It's incredible! The difference watching it on a 4K UHD device is night and day.

i had not that many problems, only one gimbal died: FeiyuTech WG. But I'd rather say this product is a manufacturing error. A lot of users reported me the same issue.
When i use the GoPro and Gimbal, it was often wet. I put some electrical tape over the openings (2*mic & side sd-card & dock connector), to protect the camera a little bit from snow/water. Until now, the camera and other gimbals has survived the torture :-)

Really impressive footage, nice job! I saw someone else pointing out the blue tint on the left side of the video and first I thought you maybe had some protective filter on but then I saw Sami Luo's 4k+ videos and his seem to suffer from the same thing, what's you take on that?

Yes, i had no filter on it. The prototype 4k+ version has some ugly vignetting. I hope they will fix that in the final version.
Actually i'm really impressed by this product. This will surely be the best action camera in the matter of price to performance.

I think you found the answer: I filmed without the waterproof case and applied the camera direct to the gimbal.
When i use the camera and gimbal, it was often wet. I put some electrical tape over the openings (mic & usb-c port), to protect the camera a little bit from snow/water. This winter, I got a motor frozen and could not film anymore. On the next day it worked smoothly again. Until now, the camera and gimbal has survived the torture :-)

at 1:59 of the video, in the shadow you can see what looks like something with a long lens (like a dslr) sitting on a gimbal. I'm not doubting what the camera can do, but I'm doubting all of this footage was taken on the new Yi 4k+
No, that's not a long lens from a dslr. This long shadow is from the brushless motor on the side. You can believe me, all footage was shot with a prototype Yi 4K+ camera. Did you also look at 4:37 ? I uploaded a picture from the setup i used: instagram.com/p/BPK-sssAh9f/

I think you can use all the bigger editing software brands. Personally i prefer Adobe Premiere.
