  • Today we'll be tackling a frequent issue we encounter with Samsung A40 devices, specifically related to charging. This seems to be a common fault for users of these devices.
We always initiate the diagnosis and repair process by removing the back cover of the gadget. We employ a thin plastic sheet for this, delicately slicing through the adhesive securing it. Once we've accomplished this, we progress by eliminating all the screws affixing the intermediate housing. A plastic pick proves helpful to gently dislodge the protective frame safeguarding the device's internal components.

Next, we employ a plastic opening tool to mindfully disconnect the battery connector. This is absolutely vital to avert possible short circuits on the motherboard. Interestingly, we noticed the FPC connector topped with a double-sided foam tape, likely placed there by another technician to maintain proper pressure. Most of you will be aware that in 95% of cases, the root of the charging failure lies in this FPC connector on the motherboard.

We then remove the foam protection for a meticulous visual inspection. In numerous instances, the FPC connector can open, inhibiting proper contact with the male connector of the flex. To dispel any arising uncertainties, we decide to conduct some measurements on both the flex and the battery connector.
The results show a 5-volt reading on the sub-motherboard's flex, stemming from the charging connector. This suggests that the current is correctly reaching the flex's final section. However, upon measuring at the battery connector, we find no voltage recorded, confirming our suspicions.
We deduce that the solution is the replacement of the motherboard's FPC connector. On our TH-cam channel, we have various videos elaborating on this process, and I'll make sure to leave a link to one of these videos. After installing the new FPC connector, we put the device on charge to verify if the problem has been rectified.
As you can see, the device is charging as expected, indicating a 1.75 amp charge. That brings us to the end of today's process. I'm Leonardo, and I look forward to seeing you in the next video. Take care until then!

I prefer to put a jumperwire between motherboard and bottom board, because pfc connector will fail again!
