Out of all the metal detector channels I love yours because of the land you cover, the items you find, and the history of them that you provide . I’m not a metal detector but if I do it’s because of your channel. Your camera and you says it all
Me too
Same❤
. .✨ count me in. .the terrain is remote and then it’s got a history of colonial homesteaders who called these upper elevations
🐾 home 🕊🪶
A true New Englander. Who else would go metal detecting in the snow. You are by far my favorite. I’m from New Hampshire and I love the fact that you go to these old farms in the mountains. 👍😁
Maybe somebody converted their flint lock into a percussion cap. Having done so the flint hammer was discarded. That was a common practice when cap locks were new. Lots of civil war guns were converted before the start of the war.
Breakfast and GMMD -great start to my day 😎
The pewter mark was imitating British silver hallmarks in a way. Folks back then polished their pewter to a bright shine similar to how silver looked. So if you had a shiny spoon with marks that resembled British silver hallmarks it almost looked like you were fancy enough to be eating off silver. Many silverplate makers used similar marks. They are know known as psuedo hallmarks. On your spoon it’s just the makers name but many included symbols and pictorial marks. Nice find.
i would like to see about a 30 second clip or so of your finds after you get them home and all cleaned up. i think that would be pretty exciting. love your videos.
Exactly
He used to do that format. I like the history he tells though
You are super excited to find the flintlock hammer. The guy who lost it was super pissed to lose it!❤😊
Yep, particularly if he found out as he was ready to shoot a big buck! Mouth watering for a venison steak and then! Nooooo!
Or dead
HEY! Good morning Brad and thumbs UP!
i loved how you showed the restoration process while discussing it as you discovered it! Please keep doing that! Wow
Brad, great adventure. It always amazes me that most you tube videos get so many views yet so few thumbs up. What does it take to just click on the thumbs up. Yes there are videos that get a thumbs down, but your videos deserve a 100% thumbs up! See you next week.👍

What a find flintlock hammer 👍👍🙏
MY FAVORITE METAL DETECTING CHANNEL, BY FAR, AWESOME FINDS!, GOD BLESS YOU BROTHER.
Fantastic! Thanks for going out in the cold. The finds are awesome, and so are your production values!
Brad, it's always interesting and a great pleasure. The pocket knife is likely a Barlow. They have been manufactured since the 1600's, and still are today. I received my first Barlow from my grandfather and still have it. As many times as I have watched your videos, I am still in awe of the Vermont country. You are indeed blessed to live there, especially with all of the history in that corner of the country.
That was awesome Brad 👍❤️🇺🇸
Would you ever consider doing a monthly recap of your finds but the ones you have cleaned so we can see them all the cleaned ??😂🇨🇦😊🙏
The big square nut is from an axle for a wagon of some sort. Years ago visiting the Studebaker museum in Indiana I found out those folks started out in the wagon business, and one of the axles was displayed in a way you could see that square not holding the wheel onto the axle. So your farmers years ago in the mountains had themselves a buggy or a buckboard wagon for sure.
May not have been a ton of stuff in the ground but what you did find was awesome.
Good Morning Brad, you'd made a comment about the folded knife that it was probably not broken and thrown away but lost. I think about that often with the things you find. That Very old gun part- did they have another gun to use? was that their only gun? what did they do? did they go down to a trading spot to buy another gun etc. Thank you for making history even more exciting..
Brad, have you ever found a piece of flint or chert shaped for a flintlock rifle? Talk about an example of early America. It does not get any better. Perhaps, when the winter snows are burying you, you could show us some of your finds from 2023 and give us whatever you have discovered about them. Thanks
👍👍 woohoo
Great show as usual. I know this time of year you do your podcasts every other week. I never miss one of your shows and what I would love to see is an updated, in depth show of your collection. How you display everything with some background on your favorite finds. I've not missed one of your videos almost since you started. Like many, we've seen you pull these artifacts from the ground but not the after results of restoration. Do that for us. I think it would be fascinating and would chronicle the results of your efforts and perhaps inspire newcomers to the fun of metal detecting. Thanks
Another great Friday morning spent watching you. Your videos always end too soon.
I'm glad you showed the cleaned version of the flint hammer.
Oh my Brad, the flintlock is incredible. Great job. Cant eait to see it cleaned up. Show the thimble too please. Happy diggin.👍😘
Should be wearing an orange hat Brad ! Vermont deer season is in full swing until after Thanksgiving !
Very awesome save !!!💥💥
I love finding old gun parts too 😎✌️🍀!!!!!
A little chill in your bones, let's you know you're still alive!
Thank you very much for sharing!
Greetings from the nearby MA, NH border!
I’m on the border of NY, VT lol
Brad,
Exciting day and cold or not, the snow was your friend, this time!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Sweet hunt & finds !!
Congrats on your great finds this video
Another beautiful day of detecting.
You look so tired....pleasectake care of yourself....your videos are my Friday treat....thank you!
Very nice hunt ... and wow, that flint lock hammer... cleaned up beautifully, well done
Always a pleasure to hang out with you Brad. Thanks for including us.
Thanks Brad. Enjoyed the treasure hunt!
Thanks Brad.
I found a fountain pen that had a rubber bulb in the top, you pull the pocket clip backwards to squeeze the bulb and flick it back down in order to suck up ink to fill it.
I'm a gridder, so I enjoy searching with light snow on the ground.
Very nice flint hammer Brad.
The Charleville was a relatively modern musket and popular to convert to percussion cap firing. There was a kit to do so. What you found maybe the old flint lock hammer that was discarded. Still an amazing find. The Confederates used them in the converted form and also shortened the barrel. Part of the trove delivered by the gun runners.
Very interesting. Thank you.
@@marcusaurelius2770 Good Pax Romano to you!
Wow, you took one for the team and went out into the snow, and it paid off! Thanks for keeping this going in the freezing months the best you can!
Awesome finds, love the surrounding shots that you do very pretty
Great video thanks for sharing take care stay safe and smile it makes people wonder
cool finds! The continentals were provided the 1763 model Charleville muskets, along with cannon, wool cloth, and other supplies by the french after the alliance was established during the war of independence . We essentially copied the design, and by the war of 1812 it was the standard issue musket of the US Army.
Great finds. Congratulations on the flintlock find. Thank you.
That flintlock hammer was in amazing shape for a 260 year old piece of iron. I woulda never guessed that's what it was if I dug it up. Awesome hunt!
A gold plated thimble 😮 that's a 1st for me to see also!!
A phenomenal hunt for you Brad, congrats!!
The silver thimble I found has the name Vic engraved into it. I was super happy.
Congratulations Brad. What an awesome find.
Great day for a hot cup of coffee and Brad❤
Cool fund and clean up!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Musket hammer great historic find Brad congrats. Never knew that fact about the brass protecting the wood handles on a pocket knife. Nice research on the thimble with name. I watched the video cleaning the musket hammer. Really nice find. Nice sash buckle as well.
Friday morning and coffee with Brad no better way to start the day. Great video and finds. Beautiful scenery and the stories telling you are definitely my favorite metal detecting guy to watch. Thanks for the enjoyable video. Have a great and blessed day.
I noticed a large tree root pulled up. Ever detect those?
Always a pleasure when Friday comes!!
My dad had a pin like you found. It's interesting to see something that I had grown up watching it being used. Makes me feel a little old.
Hey Brad great hunt. Love all the Relics you found. My favorites are the Flint Lock piece and Sash Buckle. I like the advertising Thimble. It's amazing on certain Relics or Coins for as long as some of us have been detecting we haven't found so far. When you said you haven't found the Silver Thimble so far that is a Relic I would of thought you have already had. I haven't found one either been 16 years detecting. It's amazing. Congrats on all your finds Brad Take Care
Beautiful finds brad👍👍❤️
Thats Amazing knowledge on that spoon! I started metal detecting back in 1960.... Yeah right in the beginning... Metal detecting was so new people has no idea what we had...and the beauty was everywhere I went was virgin ground..... You cant imagine... These days.... .... Even seeing something silver is a rarity... BUT... If you do what you do and go off deep in the mountain forest.... Seems its like being back in the 1960's again! Happy Hunting and good fortune! Enjoy the beauty of those peace mountain forest.... I know you will !
Thats why i love detecting beaches. Easy to dig for one, and you can drag your feet and see where youve been
You are the metal detector I didn't know I needed. Great way to start my day... Nice and mellow, and great finds...
May have been short, but I appreciate you getting out there in the snow.
You don't want to show your collections understandably, but maybe some of the things you find cleaned after you get home would be fun. Like the gun hammer of course, but I'd love to see the sash buckle and thimble clean. The patterns used on fancy buttons, buckles and such are so interesting to me.
Thanks for another stellar trip back in time! You know the flintlock hammer, because it was such an important valued possession, was not lost, but whose owner(s) just got old and passed on.
I miss walking in the woods in Vermont. I grew up near Bennington. My Grandma lived in a house my grandpa built in the early 50s. We had a view of Mt Anthony. You bring back memories. Thank you.
Another awesome video and awesome find! Your videos are very educational and brings history back to life.
The best out there!!! Crazy youve got the snow already! No snow in wisconsin yet:) thanks for all the hard work great videos, and music
What a killer piece! Rev war for sure!!
GreenMountain Metal Detecting, Hey Brad, NICE Finds! And thanks to you and Eddie for saying Hi, to my granddaughter on your live chat last week. My Daughter showed it to her. She was surprised! And said, How do they know me and my name!?
Wow !!! Lucky you dug that iron!!!!!!!
Saw the flintlock "short," great piece - find and video.
Congratulations on those amazing finds
Ty for sharing
Yay! It’s Friday morning!! Coffee with Brad
You inspire me to dig those dirty iron signals. Great find on the musket hammer.
Awesome finds, loved the video , peace ✌️
Great finds brother so awesome to find that flint holder for a gun God Bless and happy dirt fishin….Virgil
Wow. Cool hunt Brad
Top of the morning Brad , got a title for ya when you get ready to write your memoirs. The Man; His mountain ; The search . Great vid as always . Your love for the mountains and the history comes thru your videos thank you.
That flintlock piece is an absolutely epic find! Congratulations Brad!
Very cool finds see you on the next dig👍🏻
I understand why you find so many thimbles. I use one when quilting and I put a piece of double sticky tape inside it to keep the thimble from falling off my finger. The snow was pretty, thanks.
Those are exciting finds. I would love to see how you conserved the flintlock part. That turned out great. It would also be fun to see how you display your collection of finds.
I want to Appreciate Brad from making this video today and it was awesome. I wonder if a French soldier or Indian soldier had that musket and dropped it during the French and Indian war or the American Revolutionary war or the people who lived there was a veteran and may have lost it.
Some great finds Brad
Brad you are the man. Great video. Flint Lock 😮 hey oddly I have never found a thimble! Should be an easy one right!? Spanish Reales, shoe buckles, and other cool interesting artifacts…no thimbles. Thanks for your quality content.
Great video Brad...neat finds...love your channel...
Thank you Brad for sharing that Virgin snow shows me that I've not walked there. Had I not known I would have just walked in circles until I died of starvation. You sir, have saved my life.
I love watching your adventures. Carry on!
Awesome Job on the DIg BraD!
I have to agree with you, the flint lock piece is special! I really like the buckle and thimble, too. Brad, you do find some really cool and old artifacts! Til next time, keep on digging. 😊
Brad, would love to see one of your winter podcasts feature the top ten favorite or most unusual finds - even if you showed photos of cleaned pieces like you did today. Also keeps your privacy. Would like to see some treasures that don't normally make the edit. Thanks, love the beautiful Vermont woods!
Yea Friday is here!
YEEEHAAW!
Just found your channel and enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to many more.
I didn't get to watch until late Friday night but it was worth it. Amazing finds. I was especially excited for the flintock hammer and thimble. Thank you Brad for another peak into your world of metal detecting.
Congrats on the flint lock musket piece.
Way to go Brad, always enjoyed watching you unearth relics of yesteryear past
Kudos to you for not letting the weather conditions getting the best of you!
I agree! The best metal detecting channel, in my opinion! That is a fantastic find! I enjoy your adventures!
Congratulations on the flintlock!
Suggestion for the winter shows: Film the conservation of finds from the summer, and give links back to the show where you found them. Perhaps an episode or two of visiting museums, and talking to the archivists, on how to do cleaning and preservations.
Your show is the most enjoyable of the detecting channels, because you give good explanations of your process, and items found. But what really sets you apart is the sense of artistry, in your cinematography, and background music. The scenery shots you do, are almost enough to convince me to venture east of the Rocky Mountains.
It lovely warm weather here in Australia, I think that is way I appreciate your channel so much
Greetings from South Carolina 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
