True. The bit about staying grounded also. The guy pretty much invented street skating, give it to the world for free, and barely admits it. The man's a legend.
It almost solidifies the importance in finding out who you are. I find courage in his courage to express himself. I wish I could speak to someone who wants to hear. Instead, I find hobbies. "Who cares." Nobody cares until you're something. He speaks in metaphors, LOUDLY. we need to love each other.... Ask someone how they're doing today.. you may save a life. I know how hard it is to appreciate yourself, from experience. We define ourselves.. but who are we?
He's the man! I skated with him at Cheap Skates over 20yrs years ago. He was such a nice guy. I couldn't get in to skate and was with a group of people. So while they skated I was also skating, just outside. He came out and gave me a deck, wanted my Chuck Taylors, and skated with me. All cause he saw that I got screwed on a skate trip with my boys and saw how bad it sucked.
He was and still a class act. Very intelligent . he busted his behind and paved the way for skaters to day to create and invented many tricks eons ago that everyone does today. Hes still me idol . Im 44 and still love freestyle. Jacob Kovacevich Brighton N.Y.

Skating wouldn't be anywhere close to advanced as it is without Rodney Mullen. His trick inventions, he could have patented, just like some martial arts are. He chose to give them away to better skating, from freestyle, to vert and ramps, then ultimately now with street. He invented the Ollie even.
“It’s actually Really traumatic, it’s really great”. Love Rodney Mullen. Rodney is dying to skate and this lady is so stifling. Ugh godbless Rodney for not freaking out on the clueless reporter.
The lady interviewing him is SO rude. I do not like the way she’s talking to him at all. Belittling him and saying “..and if you do would you like to say it into the camera”. Like?? He has social anxiety and is visibly a little uncomfortable and would rather show them the tricks and she’s being very unprofessional by saying snide remarks.
Here he tends to say "I dont know" a lot, every other sentence, but in his more recent clips he doesnt anymore. I like to think he's got surer, a nice small sign he's grown into his own.
How did skateboarding fall into the hands of " punks" with no regard for private property or authority with this gentle, thoughtful, intelligent, unassuming young man as it's best innovator and promoter???

He was so smart at such a young age, his way of speaking is kinda hypnotic
His eloquence is extremely admirable. You can see he knows how to express himself.
He really has never seemed like a socialite but never cocky just a good dude that loves to skate
His way of talking is exactly the same as it is now during interviews as stuff.

What an absolute class act. I'm not a skater, but can recognize a class act human being when I see one.

😂 i didn’t expect that. it hurt me quite a bit
So impressed. What a human being. What a message to skaters as well. The definition of a champion on and off a skate board.
His laugh is infectious… he is an old soul. A great role model. A genuine person
“Finding tricks in your mind that look good for people”. Genius. They broke the mold when they made Rodney.
Amazing human being.
the way he explains ollie flips seem so pure! always wondered about how that trick came about and this makes all the sense !!
