Back in 2004, no use but rich people used tp wings, sleep potions, or any other expensive med to beat Maat at 66-69. As long as you have capped or near capped appropriate skills for your level, almost every job can beat him with normal tactics and melee, including WHM since hexa strike melts him. No need to sleep him over and over. Silence him when he uses Chainspell, if you need a break, BIND him (not sleep) and keep him poisoned and Bio'd so he melts away. Save sleep until he starts to resist Bind, and only if you need a break. It's much better to just kill him vs all this gravity and kiting. SMN was the only one that had to ensure they were out of range because Astral Flow used to be a guaranteed 1 shot on any job, even PLD without lots of gear and shell, back in 2004. That's why Dynamis-Windurst was considered to be the hardest for so long. One SMN using AF would wipe 36+ people instantly until they nerfed it later around 2005.

Bind on Horizon can last 1 second randomly. It is not consistent on the Horizon XI server due to balance changes. Yes you could DoT him... but this seemed faster to just simply sleep and nuke him. You can definitely melee him down, too, but with a slight risk in case of Asuran Fists. Not sure what dynamis and astral flow has to do with the Red Mage fight, but at least on Horizon you can group up summoner + pets in dynamis and nuke both down with no risk to the party, as long as the pet and master die in one swoop. I'm not sure what you mean "it's better to kill him vs all this gravity and kiting" since he is definitely still being killed? DoTs would be slower, 100%, and riskier too. Why take the risk? I am genuinely surprised by that choice, so I'd love a response :)
