You are a lifesaver! I have the Synco D1 and I love it. Wanted to see the differences between the 1 and 2, and I won't be switching simply for the option to power the D1 from a battery, since I use it both in-studio on boom arm and on the go for run and gun. BUT I was looking for these specific shock mounts because I want a better one and I couldn't find it to save my life on amazon, but fortunately, you had the mounts in your description. THANK YOU SO MUCH

Really Appreciate this video. Have been going back and forth between the 2. I bought the D2 as I dont need the battery option and I think the D2 sounded more natural. Today is Jan 3 2022 and BH Photo has the D1 on sale for $99 for the next few hours

    Thanks, gret review!
4:46 why is it so noisy? I though Synco D2 is one of the best when it comes to noise threshold... Is there any CPU-Fan or Light-fan around you whilre recording?

can you make a video of the D2 being used in long narration in semi treated room with the AC on and show us the pre and post edited product?

Just came across your video as I've been looking at these 2 mics. This was a fantastic review so thank you for all the effort. Would you say the noise floor is noticeably higher in the D1 vs the D2?

Hi Gerald, I would not want to comment definitively on the noise floor without specifically testing for it, and in my video the gains were compensated, so this may impact the "perceptible" noise in the video, but my focus was really to demonstrate the sound difference. You have given me an idea for an upcoming video though to really compare the noise with more critical tools. This is a bit off topic, but since you are investigating these mics, I want to throw out a mic I have recently taken interest in for comparison is the Mirfak NP10 Broadcast Mic...It is priced competitively with the D2 and it actually looks like a re-brand of the Synco D2, but can't be certain. If you find any info maybe you can send it my way.

@@affordabletechsolutions6917 We share a brain, my friend! That is exactly the other mic I was looking at. I did a little digging on my own. The specs are identical save for 1. The Signal To Noise Ratio. On the Synco D2 it is supposed to be 80db and on the Mirfak it's listed at 70db. The other little differences I see are physical ones. Out at the end of the tube the Synco seem to have a bit of a sculpted out end (at least from what I can see in pictures, maybe you can confirm) while on the Mirfak it is straight across with no dip to it. Also the cut outs along the tube are a bit different as well. This may all be purely cosmetic differences while the internals are exactly the same. I just reached out to the folks at Mirfak (technically they are just a subsidiary of Moza, a company known for their gimbals which I'm sure you have heard of) to see if they wanted to send one my way to review. If I don't hear back from them I may just go buy it anyway because I am really interested to hear how well it works.

@@GeraldBertramPhotography I am anxious to know the results. Amazon is offering it to me at a good price right now, I just haven't been able to justify it yet.

So we could hear the d2 sound level drop with pink noise at the sides, but it also dropped in front by about the same amount to my ear. Another comparison from Chung Dha, th-cam.com/video/LtsDKb2aNfs/w-d-xo.html shows side rejection sounded virtually the same between the two.

Interesting. I, personally would have reset filters if I saw them installed. As I said in the vid, 150hz is a crazy high 'high-pass' IMO. It is possible that I missed the setting of the HPF. Unfortunately so long has past that we don't know if the filter was engaged, but I am with you, if we need to redo this comparison, we need to redo it.

You have spent a lot of money to review these two microphones, but it's very far from the video that you show seems very amateurish and seems like you don't have experience in making videos. There should be two cameras, one showing your position with the microphone. You test the distancesound. You test it outdoors... it's really a pity. I don't benefit from your video.....
