Supreme Court releases new orders ahead of opinions in controversial cases

  • The Supreme Court released new orders Monday, signaling what cases they'll take up in the next term. The justices are also expected to release decisions for several controversial cases later this week. CBS News legal contributor Jessica Levinson has more.

    The people who went into the Capitol "because the doors were open" had seen the police block the entrance and they saw members of their group attack those officers. They saw rioters climbing walls and busting through windows. What kind of people would witness that and then think "Well the doors have been busted in, no harm in entering the Capitol."?

      Justice Sotomayor wrote a descent saying if it walks like a duck, swims like a duck and quakes like a duck, it’s a duck.
      The Starbucks case was, from what I can tell, is about an injunction that temporarily halt actions until it’s resolved by a fed labor board. There is a 4 point requirement or a 2 point requirement. The Supreme Court in essence said that the 4 point standard should have been followed. It was sent back to a lower court so the 4 point test could be applied.

      theres no case for the bump stock ban. bump stocks do not meet the technical definition of a "machine gun" per the national firearms act. Therefore, the ATF was found to be wrong when they applied a modified definition of "machine gun" to ban bump stocks. Any ban has to come specifically from congressional legislation with a new legal definition of "machine gun". they were right to over turn the ban.
