Had the opportunity to meet Eric and buy some hardware from him when he was clearing out his LA studio a few months ago. The room was full of nerds like us dying to speak with him and ask him questions. He was kind, courteous, patient, generous. Would stand and intently listen and speak with anyone about anything, answered all questions and made everybody feel like he cared. There was a line out the door and he talked to everyone. I don’t know that there’s anybody like him in this industry but he will be sorely missed in this town. Thanks for making this-
What a legend EV is, a true gift to the universe. Seems like the coolest most chill dude in the world and so happy to share his wisdom and knowledge with absolutely zero bs and posturing. Thanks for posting this.
Great interview. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned some new things. Eric could talk for hours and I would listen, interviewer did a great job listening and asking good questions.
I was in a band back in the 80s and early 90s and we recorded a lot of material at Eric's studio in Menlo Park. For quite a wile, Eric literally lived at the studio, working crazy hours. He is certinally one of the hardest working, most talented people I've ever met.
Kush Altec, will definitely give this a try alongside the other two plugs ins emulating these, though like the sound of modified being mentioned. Slammed REVD black face great tip. Room acoustics, that old elephant. Watched a lot from Eric, creating his partners album, his journey and ramblings 👍❤️
To hear you can get payed 500.000$ to produce an album, when I can barely get minimum hourly wage for recording and mixing bands, and had to take back a day job... Haha ! Well, I know I have to work on my skills A LOT, but still :')

"Making records with Eric Valentine " ... literally hours of Eric Valentine teaching his wares.
Could listen to this guy talk all day...and kinda have...
Eric is the man! Unfortunately it turns out the “open window” claim was completely NOT true
Always enjoy hearing EV discuss his craft. Thanks for this interview.
Can we have a link to the new 6inch bass traps Eric is talking about. Anyone found decent tube traps or diy plans for good ones?

Thank you very much for this!!!
Awesome interview, EV is the best!
Look like Steve-o
Awesome interview!
Why is the interviewer's video so bad? Is that his "thing"?
I wondered same thing
The good bands don’t sit around dreaming about how “massive” they will be. They dream about music for musics sake. That’s why you failed.
Good stuff 👍
9:28 Oh well, at least you Tride.
So what is this "Open Window" absorption panel and how much money do I throw at it?
I want to know too. I’ve googled it relentlessly and can’t find anything. Did you have any luck?
@Eric whats the 6 inch thing youre talking about?! I need some of that for my room! Thanks!
just a wild guess: VPR
I would also love to know that
the picture you used in 1:19:39 is not for the actual Jürgen Strauss

Tell me about it… I haven’t made a dime with music but I’ve spend many many thousands
