Awesome dismantling video dude... thankx for the knowledge share😊😊... The best past about your videos is that you show each and every step. Not like some other videos where they zap-up most of the steps....... I am going to be Dr. Frankstine and operate my not working Samsung Galaxy S6.
Just watched you disassemble and then reassemble this phone and I very much appreciate you posting these videos, mine just shit the bed so I gotta dissect it now. Wish me luck.
Thanks for sharing this video. Very useful. How do you put it back together. What adhesive do you use for this, what is the order the pieces should to go in, what heat gun do you use?
Thanks for the video. I somehow lost the grommet by the proximity sensor -- the same one that came out and you found at the 17:50 mark in this video. Where can I get a replacement? Do I need it?
Thank you, I wanted to hang to my S6 and change the battery. Glueing a phone shut to make it water resistant is kinda OK, but forcing to undo the back and the front to change the battery is just unneccessary hard. Atleast the screws are all the same length...
Really really gotta be careful when getting the digital screen off. Any slight pressure on the wrong area will crack it right away. Just happened to me -.-;; Heard a *crack* and my heart fell down to the abyss.
Im very sorry for you i know that horrible feeling i've been there too when i cracked my galaxy s5 screen trying to do the same back in the day... By the way. Did you get over it ? and.. when u cracked ur s6 screen it was in the taking apart from the backcase or when separating the screen from the mainboard/battery ?
Hi, great video one question I have done 2 Samsung s6 phones and every time I separate the battery from the middle section I don't have no light on a screen and I can't get to come on no more except there is a blue light that's on and that's it. Thank you
I cannot understand why I have to disassemble and unplug all of that stuff to change the battery??? It seems like most of it is unnecessary. I had the battery unplugged and out before unplugging everything else. Just curious. Btw, very good video, aside from my obvious confusion:-).
I bought my Phone 3 years ago and my Galaxy S6 has a removable backing and a place to insert a Micro SD card just above the Sim Card. It was easy to install the 64GB SD Card to upgrade from a 16GB. I don't understand why they made some of these phones so complicated. Makes no sense. I only found 1 Tutorial video showing the removable backing and Micro Card insert. Wow... I really love my Galaxy S6 and haven't upgraded because it does everything I need it to do.
My s6 is beyond saving to say the least (thanks hearthstone...), but i have way too many valuable pics on it! Tho i happen to have another thats working to a sertain extent, how do i change the internal memory card? If its stuck to the motherboard its gonna be a cakewalk as ive disassembled the (totally)broken one allready and the inside seems unharmed.
I took mine apart, total pain and I didnt mess up behind the battery as bad but there is like an indent in the smooth plastic (back of the lcd I guess?). I then noticed I could make one with my fingernail just as easily as i did with my screw driver. If that smooth plactic (back of the lcd behind the batery) has any indents or markings in it does that mean the screen is trashed?
lol I love this video. using 2 playing cards, a guitar pick and more random tools. being a Samsung engineer I don't recommend following this. one disclaimer I would say it will be evident that the device has been disassembled if you need a warranty fix. so you would void your 2 year warranty.
Dude, my heart is broken. While I was seeing this video I was holding my S6 in my hands and I was saying to it "Don't look at this bad guy nobody is gonna treat you that way my love" Oh man how could you?
+Theo Laskas Maybe to see it reassembled and working again will make you feel better: th-cam.com/video/T4fmbu_b-oE/w-d-xo.html It took one for the team to help injured S6 devices everywhere...
Hi. Great video. Wonder can you advise me? I have a headphone Jack lodged in the phone. The Jack broke and I do not know how to get it out. What would you recommend? Thanks.
Hey good freakin' job! I'm an HVAC mechanic by trade and when I've told co-workers I fixed my N5, they go..."you fix phones" LOLZ! "yes, if you can build a model, you can fix these sumsabitches!" Good post
not bad i like you job you did you best and after you fixed your mistake well all this latest Samsung they just the same now talking about the A-series E-series J-series S-series and Notes they just the same. but we learn from our mistakes
Damn... I hope my S6's battery will last. My last phone that needed a battery replacement was a Nokia N8 - which wasn't designed to be opened by the owner either - but it only took a few minutes and a couple of screws to undo to swap out the battery when mine died a month after battery-warranty had expired.
I'm here because I have an S6 & somehow it fell into my recliner chair (no protection at all) & as I got up to get it out,it was lodged in-between 2metal bars that crimped my phone rite at the 8mm jack resulting in the front & rear glass to spider & misshaped my phone on the bottom right (point of impact/crimping is the right side of the 8mm port..that's now a misshapen oval) & now the left side of my phone is crimped downward on an angle. Not sure if im describing this correctly,I cannot find anything like this anywhere to reference from. But in order to give u a visual-If i lay my phone down on its back (please imagine that the rear camera does not stick out)&then look at it at eye level-the top, right,&left sides all lay flat/flush. But *the bottom* doesnt. The left & right corners touches table, but at the right side of the headphone jack, there's a good 1/8" from the phone to the table.(please remember im still looking at it at eye level & can only see the bottom of phone where the charging port is.) Describing from left to right-The left corner touches the table and lays flush for 1/4"-3/8",then inclines sharpley up to the high point at right side of where the headphone jack is(so about 3/4"-1" from the left),then steadly declines downward to the right corner which touches the table...Like I said it is crimped so it's very hard 2 explain..& I really need help..I guess I also need 2 add that the inside of my charging port is broken off and gone (i use wireless charging now).. Also my ear speaker has been messed up lately & when im talkin gonna the phone must use speaker option or else it sounds like the other person is talking to u through a pillow.. Ontop of all that, my phone has always leaked/accumulated this very strange & curious liquid/stain/?? right around the outside of the rear camera lens frame.. The phone has gotten wet many times but I've always used a series of techniques to absorb the moisture.. But other then thise things the phone works perfectly, the visual & touchscreen are fine & are without problems..the crimping indecent happened only a few hours ago so I want 2 move fast.I fear my screen will only get worse and possibly black out randomly.SO PLEASE HELP ME,I NEED ADVICE..& no,I'm not buying a new phone because I'm on a small budget in this department...I plan to fix these issues , have someone assist me in fixing it , &/or also finding a way to get a good deal and build a new phone (from other phones, but with all my phones memory/storage)..thank u 4ur help & time.
Nick C I would go with no too, BUT a reviewer put it in a bowl of water with a timer, and it made it a good 20 mins before showing signs of damage. It got water in the camera lens, but after drying off for a few days he said it was fine. I stll wouldn't get it wet, but a splash shouldn't hurt anything.
Great Video, but I have a question. The speaker of my s6 edge sometimes does not work, sometimes listening very low and it seems as though other saturate and make echo. Any idea why this might happen?
Did the phone still work after you disassembled it? I need to know because I broke the display and the screen is black. I can still use it. One more question, what part should I replace if my screen is black? Just the screen? I'm no professional with this, but I'm willing to learn...
Hey great video. I have a question. I dropped my phone and the screen doesn't work. I want to be able to get my photos and data off of it because they were not backed up. When I connect the USB to the computer the phone blue light comes on but the comp. doesn't pull up the phone. If I were to get another S6, could I just remove the hard drive from the phone and put it in the phone that works to pull out my data?
Wow, that's a lot of work to tear the phone down, I watched this because my phone got water damaged. Now I know I am getting a new phone. And even if you get to that stage, who could put it back together?
If this is about making smartphones hard to repair or simply being disposable, sorry samsung you just lost a loyal customer as not all us have that kind of patience to go through all this hustle and resources to waste. Going back to htc and iphone. Thanks to your studity ingenious!!!
Hi there, I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 that heats fast and not able to turn on, I just do not know what to do about it. I guess is the batery the problem, can you help me what to do
Wet my display port with salt water. Everything on the phone works except the display doesn't turn on.Sprint told me the display port has corrosion so there is a bad connection. Is there a way to change to port or jump the connection to get the display to light up to transfer data?
Man this phone come with irreplaceable parts it seems that if you crack your screen it is almost impossible to replace. Good video, now I know to stay away from owning this phone. It would be interesting to see you putting this phone back together now. I bet it's not doable.?
hi my phone battery blew up and phone won't turn on or do anything besides get really hot and has a small LED blue light at the top left side fading from light blue to dark blue. all i am wanting is all my data. where in the phone is all the memory kept. like where is the chip for it? thanks
Hi, my Samsung Galaxy S6 SM-G920Fd s motherboard is dead and i cant find motherboard of similar model, is it possible to change with different one e.g Galaxy S6 SM G920F. G920V or G920a or G920T model ones ?
I recently purchased a SS S6 and my granddaughter cracked my screen, I purchased a replacement screen on Amazon with hopes that I could repair it myself, however when I got the kit and removed the back of the phone that shattered and then everything was taken out like the youtube video we had, not sure which one it was now, Got the cracked screen off and put the new one on, but I noticed the old screen was tinted and you could not see the inside, but the new screen was not tinted and you can see a goldish/grayish looking background. The phone comes on, but no picture. I took it to the cell phone store, and they told there is nothing I can do for it and I didn't get any insurance on it, so am I pretty much screwed on this phone now???
The phone is sealed off to show who owns it. The big corporations and not the customer. Once you buy it, you don't own it but are tied to the company who sold it to you incase of repair or upgrade.
If this is the trouble it takes to disassemble an S6, am trying to imagine the difficulty in a unibody note 5 (yet to be announced) especially the part that involves taking off the stylus foil to transfer it to the new screen replacement ... crazy!
***** I sure will but have no interest in getting a Note 5, I see Note 4 sales hitting the same high as S4 because people really need the removable SDcard more than the removable battery. Though the battery also makes sense to be removable given the versatility the Note series is suppose to command. A pole on Android authority indicates that 71% of android users are not for the Unibody design on the Note line and am one of them.
i have a S6 that doesn't want to switch on its just went dead after getting it off from overnight charging, because I had switch it off so that it will changer more quicker, I just saw the battery level in the morning when I took it off the changer and I have been trying to light it on since then, I have tried reboot keys its not working, it was never been exposed to water, and everything was fine the night before. But now not even a light is showing, please would you advice me what could be the problem I am suspecting software problem . please advice in this regards
any way to get the micro SD memory card out of the phone? my wife's phone broke and she had a s6 128 gig... the phone is shattered, but I'd like to at lease swap the memory card of her s6 and put it into her new s7. would this be possible?
I don't think the memory itself can be removed.... however, if your phone's screen is broken but still turns on, connect it to a computer and you'll see the phone's memory, just transfer all your pics and videos from there to the laptop. Then, from the laptop transfer it to the S7
+How2Tech When you just open the back cover, we see 2 external antenna ports, R1 & R2. Are there any other similar external antenna ports anywhere else? R1 most likely is the main antenna port, but it appears that R2 is not the diversity antenna port. Since you've done a complete teardown, can you help with this?
after i diassembly the screen its not working.. I did everything with caution,I connected the wires well. when i try to switch the phone i have black screen with led blue. samsung s6
if you dont wanna use a heat gun just use some VR apps, that will heat the bad boy up in seconds.
if only we could install windows and run an update, that would do it.

anyone else think its fishy that all of a sudden we can no longer pull our batteries?
phone developers want us to have a phone as un-modular as possible because nowadays kids have the latest phones and decided to make it kid-proof

Is there an SD card in this model? Is there any way to retrieve data from dead S6 phones?
can you get the charger port out without pulling the LCD off?
so the galaxy S6 battery is replaceable after all
Ayman Saad With a little work sure is!
Can we say that its kinda water resistant ?? it look pretty well sealed and saw some video of the phone being submarger and still working
Nick C I am going to have to say no. There is not protection around the ports (usb, heaphone, sim) to keep water out.

would a blowdryer work instead of the heat thingy?
Mary Pomykala A heat gun is much for direct and controlled. I would use a heat gun instead of a hair dryer.

When you removed the sim card slot, does it allow for adding a larger micro card in that section to increase it's memory???
Michael Baker No the S6 does not have expandable memory.
How can I power on my device while it is open? my screen broke and I have it connected to another screen and can't power it back on?
How would I fix bulging battery working with very little budget
got my lcd cracked and won't switch on, I was planning to retrieve the data from it. any vids on that possible?
Try MHL cable. It connect to TV or any display.
any way to get the micro SD memory card out of the phone? my wife's phone broke and she had a s6 128 gig... the phone is shattered, but I'd like to at lease swap the memory card of her s6 and put it into her new s7. would this be possible?
I don't think the memory itself can be removed.... however, if your phone's screen is broken but still turns on, connect it to a computer and you'll see the phone's memory, just transfer all your pics and videos from there to the laptop. Then, from the laptop transfer it to the S7
+How2Tech When you just open the back cover, we see 2 external antenna ports, R1 & R2. Are there any other similar external antenna ports anywhere else? R1 most likely is the main antenna port, but it appears that R2 is not the diversity antenna port. Since you've done a complete teardown, can you help with this?
When you remove that battery, you do not want to put that tool all the way underneath. It's very, very easy to puncture and cause a leak.
You've already taken metal spatula so why it is not easy to heat and cut the battery from the display?O_o
You have to take risks, nice work)
