I switched to treatments for my specs a few years ago and the difference in my first drafts has been night and day. You're doing all the work upfront instead of just working off a vague beat sheet or note cards. All those ideas you have floating around in your head when working on the beat sheet get near fully realized in the treatment phase and that actual first draft of the script goes much, much faster. Not to mention you can copy and paste from your treatment (my treatments are very detailed) into your script, then edit them into a leaner and tempo paced screenplay version. It cuts down the time for a first draft by a lot. For me, it's also turned my first draft into a near second draft due to all the work done in the treatment. Then you can really dive into the rewriting from there. Loved to see someone else using this method!
I mean... it's already changed! If you send someone something over 115 pages, they're gonna groan. If you send them an 87-pager, they won't even blink.
Thanks for this Nathan. Great following your journey over the last few years.

Yep. My feelings exactly.
Love how you’re nerfing the expected pages of a feature from 90-120 to 85-115. Be the change you want to see in the world!
James Cameron yells at cloud (I love James Cameron but also love me an 85-pager)

@@NGDwritesoh, I believe that wholeheartedly. Just haven’t heard it said out loud much yet. Keep preaching!
Thank you, bro! Can`t wait to see your movies! Cheers !!!
Appreciate that. And me neither, lol!
Gonna give this a try! And I need to know more about this Sky Mustela… (killer name)
Ha - thanks!
That is a killer name! It jumped out at me too 🎉🎉
Another banger 🙌🏼
Good stuff
i am stealing the single word/line thing. Up until today I had been deploying a last-phrase-of-each-paragraph-in-italics thang. Yours is better.
Steal away!
So you wrote aftermath. What happened there man? Whoooffff. Jeeeesh. Yikes.
Hi Fernando, what's your question exactly?
