EastEnders today is not a patch on this. The storylines, directing, acting, camera angles, just about everything in this is far superior.

BBC need to create an "EastEnders" Channel showing earlier episodes from beginning to present. All the earlier storylines created by scriptwriters, the actors and scenes were true art form of realism drama. And that's the reason why this soap opera has won so many awards. Current scriptwriters need to look back on these past episodes and more become inspired and empowered again, how "EastEnders" had that "special" ingredient. No pressure guys. 😗😗😗

This is exactly how I feel need to be time capsules as a record of real London during that period. So bloody realistic didn’t appreciate it then but certainly do now! Would never tune in today ridiculous unrealistic story lines
Remember watching this as a kid when it first aired. Eastenders was always a step ahead of the rest of soap's back then.

The scene where Carol describes how she felt and what happened after she found out she was pregnant is such a powerful scene. It paints such a clear picture of what she was describing and was so real. The acting and writing throughout this Storyline is phenomenal x
Storyline back then had impact.
How strange our view of age, in 1995 I was 25 and Carol seemed old to me, watching this now she looks so young.

Sonia was a lovely kid who grew up to be a smashing adult 🙂 It was sad that she got treated like shit as a teenager just because she didn’t look like a Barbie doll 💔 Carol and Bianca may have had tongues like razorblades but they had good hearts deep down, and Alan was a good guy, and Blossom the grandma from heaven ❤
You forget she killed Pauline, gave her baby away, and stole £30,000 off Dot by hacking her bank account !??? that never came up again when Dot died. She was a control freak and made her own daughter Bex try and killer herself… even now shes an ugly, scheming liar !!! still lying Nd scheming.. smh
I liked Carol and David's relationship. It was very complicated and went to some interesting places. Lindsay Coulson was so good as Carol!
Yeah, I always thought Lindsey Coulson and Michael French had fantastic chemistry. You could tell that they played the dynamic from the very beginning as two people who always deeply loved each other but there were so many obstacles constantly in their way throughout the years.

Carol was wrong to keep the fathers of her three children from them, David would have been supportive of Bianca and Carol, but Derek, Carol's nasty brother bullied him and his family out of the square.

Same to me as a naive 10 year old from zone 6 he was a big scary black fella with a deep voice like frank bruno. Always thought he could have had a tear up with grant and given a good account of himself. Now rewatching these hes a genuinely good family oriented guy who has shit luck with jobs etc. i never noticed how awful david was despite the affair with cindy and messing around with sam mitchell and winding ricky up.

They retconned everything about Robbie’s Dad having relationships with underage girls in 2001 when the character appeared in a few episodes. Now they look to be doing the exact same with Sonia’s Dad Terry.

Bianca became like her mother, multiple kids with different men, one mixed race. Sonia became as moody as Carol too. In the backstory, Alan met Carol when he came to fix up something in her house. So why couldn't he get a job doing that? He struggled to get jobs. It was nice he loved her for her with multiple kids. Pity they couldn't last. She tried with David and that didn't work. Did Pat not want Bianca as her granddaughter? She never tried to foster a relationship with her at first and discouraged David. Did she think he'd be a bad dad?
I always found it weird how pat was so against bianca from the start imagine if Lou Beale had still been around she’d have made sure bianca knew who she was straight away

Because the writers on the show now are clueless idiots, they probably never watched the show years ago and wouldn’t know good writing if it slapped them in the face.

It was actually confirmed many times that Carol spoke so bitterly about David because he was the true love of her life and she never got over him leaving when she was pregnant. She knew he was forced to leave by her brothers who were violent towards him, but she convinced herself that David never cared. Also, she's worried that Alan will be hurt if she speaks well of David.

Totally disagree, 'love thy neighbour' wasnt politically correct , but was still rubbish. What destroyed eastenders was the inferior writers and producers they bought in. Any drama is only as good as its characters and storylines and that is down to the writers and producers.

Proper wrongun but jokes character. Dean gaffney had a bit of an image problem in later life and i feel its due to his stint in this. Fun fact in 07 i worked for a top law firm who repped various celebs. He called and was laughed around the office nobody took him on cos of said image. They had wossy boris becker arry redknapp ryan giggs and more “on the books” they do big reputation management/libel for companies now as well as the celeb stuff. Wont name drop them.
