Rutherford's plan was never gonna work out. This franchais has a clueless owner who refuses to recognize that the issue with the Canucks is that they won't commit to a rebuild. He goes out and hires Rutherford, who specifically said that he will not rebuild and try to win a cup in 5 years. How is he going to do that? In this 2nd year, he already lost his key players to free agency. Worst of all, how do you expect the players to compete when every year you have new teammates? It's not on the players, this is on the management.
