Bishop Gorman baseball coach responds to firing: 'Unfathomable and unfair'

- Six weeks after forfeiting some of their 2024 regular season games, the administration at the powerhouse private Catholic high school Bishop Gorman fired its baseball coach.
These parents pushing their kids into sports 24/7 almost always have a rude awakening coming.
They don’t get a scholarship and you blew their college money on private coaches, uniforms, gas driving them around, stopping for fast food on the way there and back, and more.
College fund: zero
Sports stuff since they were 5: 80k
Imagine 80k invested in a 529 over 10 to 13 year. Growth.
We’ve been saying it for years you cannot allow the parents to take over like this. Once it starts, you can’t stop it. They’ve got to find a way to keep the parents out of sports.
Parents....I am a 30+ year HS coach. If you want your kid to get an advantage and maybe a scholarship, stop sending him/her to these goofy year around camps and leagues.
GET THEM A TUTOR !!
Many, many, many more kids get academic scholarships than athletic. Also don't let ANYONE tell you their kid got a "ride" to a DIII school for ANY sport. DIII schools are not allowed to give money to anyone for sports scholarships.
Absolutely correct coach. I preach the same message. So sick of travel coaches and "private" coaches in youth sports making money encouraging parents, and kids, false dreams of a "full ride". And I've witnessed first-hand the corruption of "elite" high school sports, where schools and administrators look the other way, even encourage, unethical conduct.
11-17 doesn't cut it at most schools especially Gorman. Ranked 15th in the state is unacceptable sir.

Those are the same parent who think everyone gets a trophy. Need more coaches like this, if a kid doesn’t make the cut at least they are learning in the real world you earn what you get
Imagine that... one of these "super" national competition high schools got busted for player eligibility. Who woulda thought?
This guys a liar + clearly not the sharpest knife in the drawer = if PARENTS PAY to have their KIDS PLAY BASEBALL OFTEN, then you not making that happen, forfeiting games + you getting suspended, made it so they couldn't play, then YES, you should get FIRED ASAP, so that this doesn't continue anymore
As a lifelong Las Vegan, it was like that in the public schools at first. " How much did your parents donate to the team?" Okay, you are a starter.
