@lisagallegos, these tips are amazing. One of the reasons why I haven't purchased a dog yet is because I don't feel like I have the time to take the dog outside often. I like that you suggested purchasing faux grass for your patio. I can see how this will help the dog get use to being outside.
yes, it's a lot of work! I always recommend fostering a pup as a 'trial run' prior to getting your own. That way you can truly see if you have the time. For me. I realized I had the time, but I know others who get themselves in an undesirable situation because they don't have time!
Hi Lisa: Great video with great tips. I'm not planning to bring a Goldendoodle home, but... this is my life over the past two plus decades. All of my dogs are/have been service/assistance dogs, so apartment living is what they know. I've also raised a puppy, so when you were talking about taking them out and going up and down stairs, gosh, that brought back so many memories. I was lucky, though, I only had to go up and down one flight of stairs. But weeew, that got exhausting when I had to do it like every two/three hours in the beginning! Great emphasis on mental stimulation. I was talking with a friend of mine about that--about snuffle mats actually-and she was super resistant to the idea, as are so many people. I think part of it is because it involves the handler putting in some thought and... ya know, actually getting involved with the dog beyond the obvious activities. Man! It's been freeeeeeezing here in the Midwest, so the pointy eared beast and I haven't gone out on as many long walks as HE would like. So we do a lot of indoor games with puzzle toys and fun tricks and obedience. Once upon a time, I lived without a snuffle mat. How did I do that, I wonder... Anyhoo, great video. Makes me want to raise a puppy again... sort of. But I think I'll wait until post Covid and until I'm in a bigger place. Weeew, puppies are fun but a ton of work!
Good tips. Living in a high rise block of flats could be great for getting fit if you have to take the puppy out every 30 minutes, but the grass patch substitute is definitely a viable alternative for those less energetic. Thanks for highlighting the challenges. Great video.
Both yes and no....haha it's a little complicated but I have a full video on that topic if you're interested :) th-cam.com/video/2ViP7XVglrw/w-d-xo.html

Also it's expensive - which is not ideal for building wealth ;) haha
@@LisaGallegos This is a great idea. I will have to look into fostering.
