Torci muito para o Filipe Toledo ganhar o campeonato. Desde 2015 tenho acompanhado o desempenho dele, muitas madrugadas acordado para assistir o surf brasileiro, mas a minha torcida em particular sempre foi para o Filipe Toledo 77. Tem que comemorar com muito orgulho. E Ubatuba deveria fazer uma homenagem a ele, pois é uma cidade que respira e transpira surf. Valeu, Filipe Toledo.... É CAMPEÃO!!!!
Surfing is unlike baseball, basketball, etc. While this format is a fun attempt to do a proper playoff like structure for a championship, it really isn't suitable for crowning a champ. Really makes the year anti-climactic, especially as Trestles can highly favor certain types of surfers over others. WSL really needs to do some major modifications if this idea is ever going to make sense.
It’s almost like they should finish it on the North Shore, at Pipeline. Oh wait… haha. Weird that 1) they got rid of lowers and now it’s back as the be all end to the season and 2) they didn’t hold it yesterday or even day before when the waves were way better.
They won’t run at Pipe because it basically eliminates guys like Felipe and the WSL can’t not have a Brazilian win these days or they lose money. It’s all a joke!

Ho hum, the Title is decided in waves that are small and average. Either make the shoot out at a world class heavy wave such as Pipe or just make it first past the post like it was before last year.
With such small waves in most of the events, it was now or never for Toledo. The only event where the waves showed up, Philip promptly showed out (Teahupoo, R2 exit). In this regard, it was only fitting that the finals were held in crappy surf. Stellar victory for the local surfer however, CRYtalo never had a chance. 🇺🇸

O cansaço é justamente o preço que se paga por não ter a mesma regularidade do primeiro do ranking durante o tour. Mesmo com essa vantagem para o melhor colocado, ainda acho o formato injusto, porque não privilegia a regularidade e abre margem para o acaso, vide o título da Stephanie Gilmore, a própria atleta reconheceu que não foi a melhor surfista da temporada.

Lowers is a really good wave but when the finals are 1pm you’re going to get sloppier waves. The final should of been tomorrow morning at 7am
