    Rajeev - Festivals are good for T&T local economies and tourism. I would love to taste the doubles and the Pizza. Some history on pigeon peas - It was discovered in the Peninsular of India around 2800BCE, arrive in Egypt -2200BCE - it may have made its way to North-East Africa via Trans-Oceanic Bronze Age trade - then to Americas and the Caribbean via the slave ship. Pigeon peas make a well-balanced meal and hence are favored by nutritionists. I had pegion peas and "Cookup Rice" in Guyana. Very Nice Video.

    I could only imagine how much of a treat pigeon peas used to be long ago when we did not import all these other foreign peas and beans. The things we take for granted nowadays.

    • @TrinbagoVibes
      @TrinbagoVibes  ปีที่แล้ว

      We’ll all the peas at this festival came from the hills in Diego Martin, so you kinda got that treat from long ago, especially when you consider the older age of some of these vendors, hopefully the younger generations will continue this

    Omg we have that in Philippines too and it has a different local name. My father used to plant them when I was a kid and it was fun harvesting them and removing the peas from the pods lol. I didn't know it can be cooked into different varieties. We usually cook it with pork and jackfruit and it makes a delicious pork stew. ☺️
