An important thing to know is in order to do 2800 miles a week you will need to be on the road 60-70 hours a week. So your 70-80k a year is not that much for the hours spent.

$0.58 starting per mile at Dollar General Fleet in USA. Plus load pay, unload/stop pay, and safety bonuses and yearly bonus. About $75k-$85k/year. If anyone is interested please let me know for referral. Our company is offering us cash for finding drivers since they're short on them right now.

I took a dedicated route right out of CDL school working for PTI. It's important to me to get a minimum weekly paycheck since the industry only pays drivers by the mile driven. I hauled dry van 53' closed trailers where they were preloaded and all I needed to do was to hook up to it and didn't need to touch the freight. PTI provided me with 5 weeks over the road training where I was paid $800 per week while being taught how to do the job. Once trained, nmy weekly guarantee was $1,250 per week. They paid .50 CPM. They also paid you every time you hooked a trailer and dropped a trailer. There's also detention pay if you get stuck at an account that has you wait at a dock while they load or unload you. They paid $20/hr for detention pay. I made $78,900 my first year in 2020. I was very happy with my first year and I am making an average of $2,039 per week this year. Trucking can pay very well if you are willing to work your whole 14 hour clock 6 days per week. Good luck to all the new drivers.

@@eagle25311 you know it is fun in its own way you do get to explore and see the world and you will start looking at a different way. But there are a lot of variables that you would never think about to add a lot of stress into the occupation. There's a lot of managed time, crunching numbers, and for me I have a family of four kids and a wife at home and I barely pay all of the bills as it is so that stress makes me always run hard long days. Trucking you can expect 11 to 14 hour days 5 to 6 days a week.
One of the more stressful aspects is you have to keep a following distance of 6 to 7 seconds at all times all civilians in their cars tend to cut in front of you constantly and slow down it is quite difficult the past people when you are governed at 65 so sometimes you are at the whim of incoherent civilians in their cars and if somebody cuts you off you have to back off and get your six to seven second following distance if you violate that too many times you get fired.

So about $61,000 if everything runs average.
Every 6 days out you accrue 1 day home. They usually want you out a minimum of 2 weeks. And don't like you home for longer than 4 days because the truck isn't making money and they'll give the truck to another driver. But simply communicate with your manager and let them know what's going on if you need more time and they'll give you it.
From my experience it's a really human company. Not a big corporate robot.

Don't do it. You will have no life. Go to community college and choose a different career. You have been warned.
