I remember the moment when I was reading a book by Christopher Ferrara a few years back, Liberty: the god that failed, and I first began to see that modern Western liberal democracy was neither the apex of human history nor man's greatest civilizational achievement the way I had been taught in school and everywhere else for my entire life. The scales fell from my eyes and my life was changed forever.
William Cobbett's "A History of the Protestant Reformation in England and Ireland", 1820. Published by TAN. That book was a big turning point for me; true history. I'd never seen the Catholic side, being raised a Methodist and evangelist in public secular school. Thank you Dr. Fimister; yer my favorite teacher!!
