  • THE TURN OF THE SCREW by Henry James
    ABOUT THE BOOK:
The Turn of the Screw, originally published in 1898, is a novella written by Henry James. The story, a part of gothic and ghost story genres, first appeared in serial format in Collier's Weekly magazine (January 27 - April 16, 1898). In October 1898 it appeared in The Two Magics, a book published by Macmillan in New York City and Heinemann in London.
Due to its original content, The Turn of the Screw became a favourite text of academics who subscribe to New Criticism. The novella has had differing interpretations, often mutually exclusive. Many critics have tried to determine the exact nature of the evil hinted at by the story. However, others have argued that the brilliance of the novella results from its ability to create an intimate sense of confusion and suspense within the reader.

Never read this book, so I'm now listening to this audibook to get a more indepth understanding of the characters in this story. I don't think that the movie did them justice. Complicated? No . Ambiguous? Yes. That is the point of the story. There are two stories here. The first where the governess is heroically trying to save the souls of two innocent children. The second where the governess is young, overly imaginative, and slowly goes insane. What actually happened is unclear. Although, I tend to favor the ghostly interpretation. The description she gave of Quint is very intriguing. Did she kill little Miles? Or did Quint take him?

    P. S. It's more interesting than MOST Charles Dickens novels and "The Turn of the Screw" becomes interesting at the end of Chapter 3 and stays interesting until the end...in other words, (again,) you should just read it. It's a ghost story! Enjoy it!

You misspelled facetious, your use of an acronym annoys me (I grow tired of people who can't just say what they want to say but that's just me) and if you took a minute to look over the comments of this video, you'd likely notice about half of them are from students complaining about having to read The Turn of the Screw. So, regardless of anything else, your retort is completely invalid, pointless and sounds like the ramblings of a drunkard who is trying to be witty...take it from a drunkard...
Either way, I was simply trying to help out frustrated kids by telling them the most affective way to cheat (because if they're going to be lazy and do it, they should at least know how to do it well,) while simultaneously telling them that it's a good story and they should just read the damn thing. So, in reality, I was actually promoting reading, which I think we can agree is a good thing. I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic, trying to belittle me or weirdly agreeing with me but either way, I believe that we have common ground in that Great Expectations is boring as hell and Dickens is overrated but then again, perhaps that too was sarcasm.
