This young woman's voice is beautiful! But the best, most emotional rendition of this song is by k.d. lang. Her voice can reach ranges that few people ever can. Oh, and as for crying helping your emotions and you feeling better after you cry, it's because crying not only releases a certain 'feel good' chemical in our bodies, but also rids our bodies of the 'feel bad' chemical through the tears. Psychology was my college major, but I knew even before I even started college (didn't start till my late 20s) that crying is the best, most therapeutic thing for me when I feel down.

This is one of the most beautiful covers I’ve heard of this song. It was humble, natural, emotive and I really felt the rawness and the drama of the true story of King David that she is singing about. If you read the psalms that King David wrote, they weren’t perfect. They were crying out for mercy, help, guidance, deliverance and forgiveness. I felt all this in her voice and I could listen to this cover all day long. I’m so glad I stumbled across this beautiful, raw, natural talent that hasn’t been changed and manipulated to help a recording company make millions from her. Not that I don’t believe she should have a recording deal but I hope they let her stay true to herself and she keeps that humility. Yes, there is a lot of Judaeo-Christian imagery in Leonard Cohen's words but he originally wrote and performed it as an ironic folk poem/song that different other performers have since appropriated in one way or another. Nonetheless, this is no doubt an outstanding performance by Allie, it's so great to see young kids performing old classics the way that she does.

One of my favorite conversations was between Cohen and Jmy Page. Certainly many will already know this, I feel it important for the younger generations to remind and remember. Cohen asked page how long it took him to write stairway to heaven and best I can't remember the answer was around 15 minutes total. So in turn page asked Cohen about hallelujah..... Cohen answered ..... ( I can't remember exactly) but it was in the amount of years not minutes..... And Cohen replied I'm still uncertain that's it's finished. Both geniuses!!!!!!

Great that Allie credits David Owens as her accompanist in the description. Allie was clearly battling a virus that emphasised the cracks, but has such a strong voice that she holds notes most of us couldn't get close to.
I am a singer too and her voice has always been the voice I dreamed of. It's very hard to pull it of without sounding like a coughing dog. I applaud her for her confidence, many would be too scared/nervous to perform with so many people watching them. You have a big future ahead of you sweetie

One of my favorite conversations was between Cohen and Jmy Page. Certainly many will already know this, I feel it important for the younger generations to remind and remember. Cohen asked page how long it took him to write stairway to heaven and best I can't remember the answer was around 15 minutes total. So in turn page asked Cohen about hallelujah..... Cohen answered ..... ( I can't remember exactly) but it was in the amount of years not minutes..... And Cohen replied I'm still uncertain that's it's finished. Both geniuses!!!!!!

I am a singer too and her voice has always been the voice I dreamed of. It's very hard to pull it of without sounding like a coughing dog. I applaud her for her confidence, many would be too scared/nervous to perform with so many people watching them. You have a big future ahead of you sweetie

Good grief, am bloody speechless here, was told to check this out by a friend and...that voice....like silk being ripped by angels....raw, beautiful and almost primal, I'm a cynical music snob in my 50's who normally only has time for the Leonard Cohen classic but this gave my goosebumps goosebumps...keep doing what you're doing little lady and please don't get sucked into the professional music machine because it will just churn you up and destroy everything that is beautiful and unique about you...they seriously don't deserve talent such as yours.

Amy Winehouse, Courtney love, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, and so many more wonderful singers have this raspy sound and it's what makes people drawn to them. It's unique, and it's true art through sound. These days natural raw talent is something not cherished the way it should be, it's sad.

To me this is Allie's best performance.Her voice is so full of emotion and the starkness of just the piano accompanying her magnificent voice makes it great.Leonard Cohen would have liked this version of his song.
Very few people can do this song justice. Apart from the great Leonard Cohen, RIP, Jack L was the only person who gave me goosebumps to this song.....until now. A voice so much beyond her years. A jewel from the Rebel city. Saw her perform at the Marquee at the tender age of 13 and she was amazing. As good as the main act, Picture This, who were also in awe of her talent.
