- Huge fan of Ronnie James Dio but this is a first time listen to Dio "As Long as it's Not About Love" from the Magica album, this is later Dio stuff, so let's checkout the song from Dio and see if it rocks!
Dio was an American heavy metal band formed in 1982 and led by vocalist Ronnie James Dio. Dio left Black Sabbath with intentions to form a new band with fellow former Black Sabbath member Vinny Appice, the band's drummer.

9:47 My interpretation has always been that you don't want to hear _lies_ about love. "Tell me sweet lies as long as they're not about love."
I always thought it was more about a lost love in which the main character (from whose perspective Dio is singing) doesn't want to hear their partner say that they love him, because it would be a lie. They can stand to be around their partner as long as they do not speak of love, because Dio's character knows that their love has faded away.
However we all put a bit of our lives into our interpretations of music, and so that is very likely specific to me.

RIP, RJD...and still one of the coolest band logos in rock...turn it upside down and you get DEVIL...woah! 😈 No disrespect to Ronnie, BUT...this took a little too long to kick in for me, and I couldn't really get past the opening...all I could hear was Freak-A-Zoid by Midnight Star. Your Don't Talk to Strangers riff sounded more like Rick Springfield's tune to me, or was it my imagination????
I can hear absolutely no resemblance other than the song title. Are you sure you've listen to both songs?
@@M.Never. You are right, there is no resemblance whatsoever - I only thought, that at least to my ears, what Shane sang sounded more like the Rick Springfield song. I was probably having an 80's General Hospital/Dr. Noah Drake moment....
