I used Shadow magic ever since I started playing World of Magic. I chose it because I wanted to be evil, but then I decided to have a positive reputation because I realized how hard it was to play when you have negative reputation.
Negative rep isn’t hard to play at ALL!! It’s fun if you like fighting heroes and grand navy losers and have some decent combat experience, since as a criminal you’ll be targeted by both heroes and other criminals.

@@Mattssz not only the magic council, but you couldnt/cant use the shops in town and so you had to get lucky to find a enchanter or a guy that could upgrade your stuf.

Idk if it’s just me, but every shadow mage I’ve ever encountered was an extremely sweaty player, most likely with a groove on their chair type of sweaty
i found 2 not so sweaty shadow mage that only know to spam beams and the skill that not required to aim much
i’m bad at pvp at that time so they beat me easily but now if i find them again then not gonna be a chance

this one savant I dueled used shadow magic and SOLELY used its blast and beam for damage when he had the staff and dual swords. strangest thing is he didn't even wanna talk with me when I asked basic things like his stats, all he said was "R" "S" "G" when I respawned and went back to the arena. he was so dead-fuckin-set to the pvp grindset cuz his magic made holes in his brain where the personality gray matter would be. this magic isn't just busted, it's radioactive.

oh yeah, following up on the last comment, he did say he had 82 power. this is important because I was using magma magic and had 90 power, yet we were still somehow near equal in damage on our blasts except his went at hyper speed.

Its kinda curious because ive never heard anyone say they hate shadow magic till now, also, i chose shadow magic just because its the one i had in arcane reborn, and i also suck ridiculously at pvp, so i must be one of the few shadow conjurers that are not sweats
They should make shadow do 2x more damage to people who are afraid of the dark

I'm a shadow main since WoM but recently i gave up magic altogether and went warlord, shadow seems really solid choice but it's extremely boring if you aren't sweaty PvP only demon.
Same I went w warlord because, I rather switch styles then have my whole magic be gutted n unusable
my first ever slot in arcane odyssey was a shadow conjurer and i deleted it because i thought shadow was a boring magic 😭
got bored of shadow warlock after like a few weeks honestly even when i ran shadow boxing, felt boring even as a pvp sweat

As a person who just started using shadow mage with 100 attack speed, I can confirm that shadow is fast and hurts like hell. I can't even imagine how fast it would be if it had 200 attack speed, but I'm waiting for defense-attack speed gem to see what's the fuss all about. Shadow can be changed to have more reactions and have lesser damage as a whole because it is such a good solo magic even while leveling up. Using shadow blast feels like using a musket but with a bigger bullet. At only 69 power, with power aura, I can do 450+ damage just from a fully charged blast and it's honestly disgusting. I've met tryhards who use shadow as a hunt/pvp magic like one of the emperor of the seas, but I just use it solely to get back at those pesky toxic players to give them a taste of their own medicine.

I agree. This shadow conj was hunting everybody in servers then hoping immediately. It's annoying, most shadows I met were just like that.

Shadow user since AA, and I personally find nothing wrong with it (I just suck at combat)
I even ended up making a clan I named "The Shadowmancers"
So far I'm the only shadow mage in it and its infamy is really low but it's not that much of a problem
I used it in arcane adventures, but mainly liked the idea of fighting styles, so when arcane odyssey came out, I just ran earth and ditched my magic.
I've probably never felt the power of snow because i am a paladin, and freeze literally doesn't work on npcs for some reason
as a 300 attack sped shadow mage I think shadow is perfectly balanced as I miss a lot and if shadow is overpowered how could I miss? also how can I stop myself from getting into car crashes?

Snow is getting a planned damage nerf, to 0.9x
Sand got nerfed to 0.95x already the wiki just hasn't updated it
Also it's much easier to combo with shadow compared to switching back and forth between your main magic and a smaller secondary magic for a damage boost or stun, as shadow will either be faster, or have a high damage output, or maybe both.

i swear dealing with jumper spamming beam and infinite air time suck, i just travel to dark sea and one person just chasing me and jumped me then just keep staying in the air and attacking but that was conjurer
then in ravenna when i haven’t got good pvp set yet, literally a shadow mage jumped me for no reason then leave the game after spamming all of the beams at me

Something that i kinda hate with AO devs / tester (any kind of staff) is that when they test they literally only do PvP and .... still so much unbalance ? Shadow , like you said in this video is kinda broken for months , explosion thermo fist , metal mages ....... Hope that this year vetex will actually give more time to balance instead of adding random features that nobody care like skin tanning

Vetex has no involvement with the balancing of the game whatsoever it is fully on the balance team lol the AO moderators / discord moderators don't either even some testers don't balance the game
yes I do agree but every "balance change" is pushed with every update hense why metal mage was fixed in the next major update crystal warlock was fixed in a different update too

Shadow's very good but I wouldn't say its the best magic like some people say it is, light mage, and lightning mage are both better than shadow mage, and basically every stun mage out there is better than shadow mage as well, shadow mage also gets outclassed by berserker and maybe even conjurer depending on the weapons they use
I also used shadow magic just to be evil(though he wasn't my main built) back in World of Magic he was my villain built and in Arcane Odessy, I would do things like rescuing a bunch of cast aways just to take them with me to the dark sea. Basically, I didn't know shadow was broken, I just wanted to make an evil mage.

Probably it needs its blindness nerfed and the damage... Ive played against 5 diffrent shadow mages i literally got hit once and got blinded then half my ho dissapears like the fathers of shadow mages

I didn't want to be a shadow user, but they took away my WoM Ink, and I had no other options (besides water but I didn't want water).
a few weeks after the last update i quited ao because there was nothing fun to do so idk if the meta changed but i think shadow is balanced because you got no synergis but i think that having 1.15 attak size is wrong because it doesnt make any sense, it should have 1x attack size

abit out of topic here as i am talking about fighting style instead of magic here but
what genuinely gets me is that basic fighting style attack is the equivalent of shadow yet i dont really see people talk about how genuinely good it is
it has no synergy and with enough attack speed you're bound to catch up with anyone
and you can easily reach 200+ damage with shot alone
honestly wish i could have more opinions on shadow as a whole but i rarely see people run it in SG as i join random servers, only pvpers really run it and i barely see any if im joining just random servers
crash and rushdown are kinda clunky at times, and fighting styles generally require more skill than magic. on the other hand, blast + beam spam is way easier and snare is just free dmg, not to mention surge just wins group fights most of the time

Legit the only reason I deleted my Shadow Mage save was because I went too fast and didnt grind any loot :skull: like bro I could've just grinded the loot then and there
edit: I also deleted the slot because I just didnt like the way it looked

Metagaming is one of the main reasons why I have an aversion to games with pvp. Even though I love AO it really pisses me off that I cant just play my character the way I want because some meta slave is gonna come in with the most OP build and kill me in two seconds because my build is mediocre and focuses more on roleplay vibes than busted gameplay

Tell me why tf would it be nerfed at all?? The reason it has good stats is because it doesnt have ANY synergies and debuffs other magics alot, just go for it

Shadow is a strong magic and it will stay on top if is not a direct nerf against shadow and nothing will make it bad beacuse atk speed gets guted but shadow still got power and size, size can get guted and still is exceling above most of magics. Personally i run explosion since wom, i played out of fun and i made a warlock when ao came out(explosion thermo).I withnessed nerfs that went from 0.95 speed down to 0.8 speed and recent imbue nerf of 0.75 (thank you iron leg explosion) at this point i can run anything better but the issue is not solved by nerfing but by remaking the magic, make it as light, give it self sinergy and nerf his power, size and atk speed by a bit, it will get 5% or 10% self synergy but it will be less stats.
Honestly just buff shadow cuz no synergies 😳
