I think, Roger's transformation is from a curse, meaning, it's magical, not biological.
If this explanation still doesn't satisfy the confusion, I have a theory to back it up. My theory is that everytime he transforms, he goes through a mirror portal where his human/werewolf avatar awaits inside. He leaves his body and belongings in there while shifting to another form, that's why everytime he transforms, he dashes/jumps.

Lesely's 2nd skill makes sense because in each and every game there are skills which can harm himself like valir's 1st skill he can go in that area where he had thrown the fireball but he will not take any damage but the enemy will take damage🤔🧐
