      Its too bad because he was the guy we were missing in our pool. A enforcer type to not let the dirty CONCACAF teams get away with the hacking crap on Pulisic. If we had a younger JJ we would have definitely qualified. He would not have let that walking around the field in a ride or die game fly. Hoping McKennie becomes our next JJ.

    • @thegreatcalvinio
      @thegreatcalvinio 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      He might have been bad down the stretch for the USMNT, his passion, physicality, and commitment was something we miss on the USMNT. I can respect him since he played in Germany for 15 years, and only came older when he was in his 30's. I only wish we had a younger Jermaine Jones because he was the type of midfielder that was missing, Bradley could not hack it at all.

      I don't really get the hate on Bradley. He's an average midfielder at best trying to be superman because the other players around him are not even on his level. Replacing Bradley with Jones (even a young Jones as you say) wouldn't change a thing.

    • @Greyswyndir
      @Greyswyndir 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bradley was above average at one time and hit his best at Roma. Too bad he took the MLS payout and let his skills go by the wayside. Now he doesn't even have that famous engine to make him look above average, so he's bang average now. Luckily for us we have Wes McKinnie (Schalke 04) and Kenny Saief, along with a few others that look promising. Bit in T&T, I would have taken a 36 year-old Jermaine over Bradley. Since Germaine has taken the sweeper role for Galaxy, he looks to be a lot better.

      I remembered when he was giving Schweinsteiger so much trouble in that Group stage game in 2014. Jermaine gave Basti that look like, "Remember me motherfucker?...I might not have made the German national team but here I am, giving you as much hell as I possible can." We kept them to a single goal and made it out of the group of death, not bad at all. Then we beat them in a friendly for the first time after the world cup. And Germany played a really strong team (due to Klinsmann's good relationship with Yogi Love) It was a hell of a game, one of our best efforts to date. We should have never fired Jurgen Klinsmann.

    Totally true. Paul Caligiuri was the first American to play in Europe in Germany and is now the only qualified coach with ties all around the world that can bring our program where it needs to be. He sends his youth players now to Europe and US Soccer hates him for that. Yet he’s doing and has been doing what Germaine is saying right now. Caligiuri for Men’s National coach must happen. He has the right vision.

    Ive spent past three years watching Jermaine and hoping his attitude would rub off on fellow Americans. The dude is a fighter and we need every player and coach to learn from him. I know he hates the political shit that would come with coaching but I'd rather see him coach and the US WIN!! a game against any European or South American country with several players given yellow cards and 2 reds with 9 guys left to play instead of a bunch of lazy robots losing to a local island nation that has nothing but pride to play for.
    Im American amd I went to England at 14 to play a season in lower leagues before I finished high school back here. Totally different culture. You play for 4 hours a day there year round..after going to school! Not practice 5 times a week for two hours during sping and fall like US teams do.

    Truth and heart! I hope someone at USSF is watching, listening, learning and ultimately DOING something different. The fact that Jeürgen got lambasted for saying the same is ridiculous. JK was always set up for failure, he had to be cross purpose with himself as US TD and US Coach

    • @Greyswyndir
      @Greyswyndir 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Klinsmann would have gotten us to Russia if stupid Sunil Gulati would have kept cool and not panicked. The truth is the Mexico loss in Ohio was a last minute fluke. But losing so many games later on in the Hex under Bruce was just really bad management. Arena played Gonzo over Cameron and we payed a huge price. He left Chandler in Germany when Yedlin was injured and we payed for it. He used Nagbe/Villafana/Gonzo in the last round of the hex and now we're out of the world cup for the first time since 1986. Arena used the Gold Cup as an opportunity to make his record look better when he should have used it to bring players like Weston McKinnie onto the team. It was an off-year Gold Cup with most nations playing B teams. It made Bruce look slightly more competent then he really was.

      I didn't have a local MLS team growing up. Even if I did, MLS exposure has been severely lacking(it is getting better every year), and I probably would have brushed it off. That is why the exposure from the WC is so important. Also, I can't root for teams thousands of miles away that I have no connection to. After the 2014 WC I wanted more, so I decided to check out a Galaxy game and I was hooked.

    Jermaine wears his heart on his sleeve and I can tell he loves his country and wants what's best for the US. He was such a bulldog in that world cup in Brazil, fighting for the ball as if he was fighting to protect his kids or something. Building starts exactly from where he said: Youth -> D2 -> MLS -> Europe -> CL
    Once the talent starts producing itself at a good rate we can then dream to have MLS grow into the level of one of those big leagues in Europe and there won't be a big deal between choosing from MLS or European based players.

    As much as people blamed Sunil Gulati, and deservedly so, I believe that Don Garber and the MLS deserves as much blame as well. Don Garber and the MLS is holding the national team back. It is Garber's philosophy that "having as many Americans in the league as possible in order for it to grow" is holding the national team back. This is all marketing bull shit. He doesn't care about the national team. He only cares about making money. He is the reason why MLS teams are trying to keep hold of our American youths and other American players. Not only that, they will eventually try to poach other American players from Europe to come back to the league while in their primes just like what they did to Altidore, Bradley, and Bedoya. I am afraid that one day they will go after players like Pulisic, Yedlin, Wood, and other players still in their primes. Don Garber is a disease to the national team!! The USSF needs to dissociates itself from the MLS immediately!The MLS needs USSF more than USSF needs the MLS. Most people probably started watching MLS through the national team just like I did. Without the national team, no one gives a damn about the MLS! That is why USSF needs to distance itself from MLS and Don Garber. The USSF and MLS can both grow on their own.

    JJ the top US. Players that come back for a big contract likely do not have to compete for a spot. Although Kaka was benched in Orlando.
    I also believe that the German and attitude by Klinsmann and his coach at Dallas and his ego ruined Brek Shea. They played him like a machine at one point.
    It's strange to me though that Klinsmann would not play the hungrier MLS players that would run through a brick wall to be on the national team but loved the complacent guys like Michael Bradley.
    While other good players can fall out of favor in Europe it seems to be much easier for it to happen to US players.
    It's more than the quality of play in the MLS, it's the attitude. Costa Rica and Honduras have mostly MLS players or local players at the MLS players are the ones scoring and playing a big part for them. But they appreciate the MLS and the opportunity and they don't take it for granted. However, I don't know how non big-name players even in the MLS can think they are guaranteed a spot because they're not. Even in MLS if you are making good money but not a top producer in the MLS will ship you out to another team in MLS or out because they don't watch a big contract. When Jermaine wasn't performing as well Colorado did not want him anymore with that big price tag.

    When Klinsman was replaced I did warned the US to try to prepare for the WC instead of trying to qualify in CONCACAF. One of the major mistake if I can play Monday morning QB was when the US did not field the Major team for the last Gold Cup. Yes I know they won that however it would have much better to destroy that tournament instead of playing Par to the likes of Jamaica, Nicaragua. US is still the best in CONCACAF still the favorite for any upcoming CONCACAF tournament.

      Yeah, but he finally made it to a top team (Roma) and Jurgen urged him to stay with Roma and earn his spot every week. The Italians respected Bradley and were sad to see him leave and take the MLS payoff. That was the end of Michael Bradley. His skills became rusty in the MLS and he became bang average. I hope we've seen the last of Bradley. We should give him a nice send off in the next friendly we play, then sub him out 20 minutes later and let Weston McKinnie take over his position going forward.

    Shame on these guys picking contracts instead of testing themselves. Morris, Nagbe, Acosta, and so many other names should be littered everywhere in Europe. Fact is, Costa Ricans in the MLS are hardening themselves playing in a foreign place. Americans in MLS are playing low-level competition at games that have a max attendance of 30k. DO BETTER.

      So if you are not an American playing in MLS is " hardening themselves playing in a foreign place"....if you are American it's "playing low-level competition at games that have a max attendance of 30k."...it's the same fucking place you idiot

    • @JCM718
      @JCM718 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, you're wrong. In this case, the USMNT players have higher expectations (both of themselves, by their fans, and by the organization). MLS is often less of a challenge to a native than to a foreigner. If you're from Slovenia, playing in the Czech Republic might be a step up. But if you're Czech, playing in the Czech league is evidence to note that you're not playing the highest level. And look, I didn't even have to call you an idiot!

    Damn. What he's saying about top European players gaining respect just from being in big teams is true.. It's the same as when you sit down to play a game of chess with your untitled 2200 elo rating and your opponent is an International Master with 2500 rating who plays against Grandmasters regularly. You're going to respect him and play safe. It's the same in football.

    I hope to God someone has the common sense to get Kellyn overseas. We could use a quality back playing opposite of Yedlin. Hell, I don't understand why we ever play backs who dont play in Europe. Gonzales isn't gonna stop any forward that plays in any league better than MLS. How can he defend decent players if he never faces them at the club level? There's a reason our back line looks like garbage if Brooks or Cameron aren't in it.

    What he is saying is correct, but if all players go to europe, it may take longer to improve the MLS. I think we need to improve the way we teach(technically, mentally, phisically, speed/urgency of play) the youth, play them in our PRO leagues and maybe after 23 or 24 have them move to europe if they so wish so or their abilities allow them to. But they cannot be going to second tier leagues either. Then they come back at 30 or so, to be part of MLS once again. This will create youth and experienced players in MLS teams. But you have to start playing this good younger guys as soon as you can. If they burn out, they burn out, but some will make it through. Those are the ones we need for the USMNT.

      Bro it's not MLS is fault the weather in it was just a bad game or people taking this out of context saying that the MLS sucks and if your team has all majority MLS players that can't go nowhere that's why I'm saying look at Panama look at Honduras look at even Costa Rica Panama Panama qualified Costa Rica qualify Honduras have a fourth-place chance to qualify that's what I'm saying people need to stop blaming the MLS not the MLS last World Cup qualified with MLS players the foreign players came in later but before that it was MLS players that got us to the World Cup that's what I'm saying look at Jamaica my country right they had teams cuz I followed Jamaica national team where it was bachardy players from Sweden and England and they didn't go nowhere and qualify they didn't go nowhere and Gold Cup these MLS players that are playing playing in the Jamaican national team are outperforming these foreign players as you can see we went to another final of the Gold Cup the MLS is not the best I agree at this moment but it's getting there year after year I watch concacaf Champions League they're closing the Gap with the Mexican team the reason why the Mexican teams dominate is because of the schedule and people are going to say I'm making excuses but if Manchester United have to play Real Madrid when Real Madrid wasn't in preseason preseason they would have gotten Blown Away

    JJ is 100% right. 100% right. He may not ever been the most skillful player but he was tough and was a workhorse in midfield. MLS is such a shite league. Those games are horribly boring and now we are getting the old retired farts like Villa and Beckham and Henry to come play. It's so dumb because they come and score and it makes it obvious the MLS league is so bad when an old man can dominate our youth. It's going back to square one with the Cosmos of the 70's. It's time we make a name for Americans in Europe and when we are doing better and things grow then our own league.

    • @Greyswyndir
      @Greyswyndir 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MLS has improved a lot in the last five years. New teams like Atlanta United have upped the level of competition and play in the MLS. It's becoming a selling league and it's helped our best young talent get looks from Europe and has led to them going over there to play for top teams like Schalke and Dortmund. Unfortunately Sunil Gulati and other USSF morons think the national team exists to build up the MLS. It's supposed to be the other way around. Our guys must go to Europe to become top level. It's going to take the MLS at least another 20 years (maybe longer) to break into the top five (La Liga, Bundesliga, Premiership, Serie A, Ligue 1).
