I’m new to amigurumi, so I appreciate all of your videos. I’ve been binge watching so much of your content lately. Thank you for going over the different price points for different yarns you use. 🥰
I think Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling is great for beginners! Switching from knitting to crocheting I was very clumsy and had so much trouble with splitting stitches, but for whatever reason their anti-pilling yarn stays together very easily and it’s difficult to split stitches even with very sharp inline hooks! It also feels pretty soft, is so easy to wash, and for my knitters out there it’s my favorite for brioche stitch and other textured patterns because it’s thick and soft but has plenty of squish to it, which is coincidentally great for plushies and amigurumi also! And they’ve also got their Skein Tones color palette which is great for animal fur and more importantly amigurumi dolls with different human complexions!
I appreciate seeing yarns at different price points. I have been using Knit Picks Brava worsted to make toys for Christmas gifts. I really like it. It is an acrylic yarn but it doesn't squeak when I crochet tight stitches (that drives me crazy). I got it on sale for $3.19 for a 100 gram skein. The color selection is not as good as some other yarn lines, but I could find colors that worked for the toys I was making. I also really like Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn. I make toys for kids who will play with them so these yarns work great. When I make decorations for myself I use wool or wool blend yarns. They are much easier on my hands. Thanks for all of the great information. You do the investigating and we get the benefit!
Saturday is my favorite day, not only is it the start of the weekend, I get so excited that your videos are released. Thank you so much for all of the content you provide! I have also used the Baby Bee Sweet Delight from Hobby Lobby for amigurumi. The only downside is that the color palette is limited because it is a baby yarn. Thank you again for making my day! Prayers continuing for your family!
My fave for everything is I Love This Cotton! It is so soft and very affordable and the colors are so pretty. I hate yarn that burns your fingers and this yarn doesn't do that which is a huge plus for me. I have made small items like barbie clothes to huge blankets with this yarn and all turns out so good.
Elise, wow, what an inspiring video! Thank you for mentioning so many collections from the Premier Yarns Brand! Your passion and enthusiasm for creating works of art with yarn is wonderful! Thank you for sharing your love for beautiful yarns with everyone!!!!
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing all of my favorite Premier yarns!! The comments prove how much people love Premier!! I'm going to have to find that one from Dollar Tree! So many people love it! 🧶🧶🧶
So Sweet to see that you care about one of your crafters enough to reply. I love 💙🧡 it so much that I'm running out to buy your yarn for my 5th amigurumi project.
I know that this is an older video but I am just getting into amigurumi and knitting animals and I wanted to share how much I appreciated this video! I am enjoying the amigurumi playlist!
@@EliseRoseCrochet What amigurumi book would you recommend a newbie to start with? I have watched your book videos but can't decide which one to start with. ❤
We have a local yarn shop here in Omaha that carries the Berroco Vintage, and since it was my birthday, hubby took me over there to pick out some hanks. The lovely ladies there rewound it into cakes and I can't wait to use it!
Would you ever consider doing a video on amigurumi kit comparisons? I would love to know your opinion on the various kits and the yarn in them that have come on the market in the last year since amigurumi has gotten so popular.
I almost exclusively use red heart super saver for everything. It’s pretty budget friendly and has a ton of colors. Plus, it’s widely available where I live. Also, very helpful that it’s acrylic because my sister is allergic to wool. I’m thinking I may have to check out premier though. I have a temperature blanket gift that I’ll be making soon and the color selection isn’t what I’m wanting with red heart for it.
Premier Basix is a very affordable yarn that is similar to Red Heart Super Saver, but others have said it's a lot softer. It also comes in a lot of different colors! ❤
@@EliseRoseCrochet I’m going to have to look into it. I have to swap out a couple of the colors as they don’t really fit with what I’m going for. I’m making a temperature blanket of their wedding year (2006) in their favorite colors (blue and green). I’ve got time to get everything together because the goal is to get it done for their 20 year anniversary which is in 2026.
In Australia, my new favourite is Anette Eriksson "Jeans". 55% cotton and 45% polyester. Can use a 3.00mm instead of a 2.75mm, and stuffing not showing through. The twist is so dense, it is hard to split the yarn!! Win win.
Oooh! Now that sounds amazing!! I may have to check my local yarn shop. They are two amazing New Zealanders and they stock a lot of Australian and Kiwi yarns!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks Julie, I love to hear when someone recommends a nice yarn I can buy in Australia. I’ve been struggling to find a good yarn for crochet as a lot of them seem to split.
Yes your lil drummer boy the yarn looks great for him! I'm so glad you made this video thank you so much. And I agree when it comes to putting lotion on when using Yarn Bees yarn. When I made the leg warmers on my channel I had to moisturizer at least twice to get good grips on the yarn it definitely helps.
I only just started making plushies, but so far Bernat Blanket yarn is my favorite!! It’s soft, snuggly, and I’m addicted to how it feels! ❤ But I’m also a touch biased cause I like those plush/velvety type yarns 😂
Right now I love Gründl Cotton Quick print a lot. I love to make squids and other sea creatures and the striped yarn gives them lovely patterns. It's also really nice to work with (I have no problems with fraying at all) and I love the shimmer from being mercerized. To me it feels even nicer than Catania.
If it wasn't for you... I wouldn't have thought about berroco vintage yarns. You're 100% right, it is like BUTTER!! And yes... it's my absolute favourite too. I also love Debbie Bliss collection... lovely to use when making scarves or cardis
Question: would you be interested in trying out some of the more readily available (in the US) budget yarns such as Red Heart Super Saver (I call it "scratchy saver"), Lion Brand Pound of Love, Caron One Pound, Mainstays, Loops and Threads, I Love This Yarn, and Big Twist? I typically do not like to use these budget yarns but you can get SO MANY toys made out of these and some of them have quite a lot of color options. Also, I am wondering how Caron Simply Soft would hold up and work up as an amigurumi yarn. I find it to be quite splitty but slick and soft and shiney. I am a big time lover of Hobby Lobby's yarns. Yarn Bee seems to have some really unique yarns with all kinds of different blends and textures which I just love. For a basic yarn, I Love This Yarn is really my go-to as it's the softest of the bunch, but Big Twist is my second go-to due to softness. I'm surprised at the scratchiness of Lion Brand's yarn. Also, nearly forgot about Bernat's Value yarn and the Crafter's Secret (which is, I think, WORSE than scratchy saver!).
I love the feel and final product but for a beginner crocheter it’s a nightmare because when I first started I would ALWAYS split stitches in a way I’ve never done with any other yarn or when I’m knitting. 😂 now that I have about 6 months of practice crocheting under my belt I absolutely love it
Thanks for putting in SO much work and sharing it all with us! I love your videos and get so much inspiration from you! I’ve got the whole gamut of budget to luxury in my stash and I’m shopping for that as much as possible!
Thanks Elise for your review of preferred yarns for Amigurumi projects. I especially like the wild rabbit that you made w/the 2 kinds of Rowan kid yarns. ❤️
I trust your videos regarding yarns, as you have obviously tested them out for your use. The fact that you also researched yarns of varying price points, gives me further information for my amigurumi. Having allergies to rough wool yarns has me cautious of anything not merino, silk or alpaca. However, the Berroco Vintage appears to be okay for my hands. Bonus, the LYS beneath my condo SELLS it! Once again, thanks for all you do for us, and incidentally for yourself, in researching the yarns and their prices. Blessings!
Thanks so much, Nettonya!! I cannot imagine living over a yarn shop!!! What a dream!!! I discovered Berroco Vintage in a yarn shop too! It's such a great yarn!! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet It’s a dream, when you get all your projects done or eliminated. I’m well on my way through my list of WIPs, so I’ll be able to purchase yarn for new projects! 🙃
I have a ball of merino that I've had for years. I could only afford one ball but lordy is it beautiful to hold against my neck. SO soft and luxurious. I know I'll probably never be able to afford more so i just keep it in it's original ball and occasionally hold it and smile. I guess I'll have to decide which of my children will inherit the $45 ball of merino 🤣. I do think that more mid priced yarns tends to be more pleasant to work with. I don't normally work with any cotton except for pot holders/hot pads. Cotton is so durable for kitchen.
Bernat Blanket yarn I make chunky Dino’s with it and at Joann’s it’s originally 12 dollars but usually on sale for about 8 it uses an 8mm crochet hook and works up pretty fast
I make most of my amigurumi from Knit Picks yarn, but I purchase from the WeCrochet website bc it has a lower minimum for free shipping. I really like Cotlin, it's a cotton/linen blend and looks great if you want to make a more vintagey or rustic looking toy using cotton. It is a little rough though so I can see that it might be uncomfortable to work with for some people... Mighty Stitch is another good one. It's 80% acrylic, 20% wool and is SO SOFT and smooth in the hand. comes in bright colors and is very strong for seaming. I think you might like the feeling of that one, Elise. the yarn definitely has a shine too it though and the colors are quite vibrant and bold, so it has a more modern look while still having a halo. Their Swish worsted and dk yarns are a 100% merino wool that I actually found to be plenty strong for seaming! I've done a pull test on it and I can't break it even if I put all my force into it. I've only tried that on the worsted weight though so I'm not sure about the dk. I really enjoy knit picks as you can see but I really want to try the berroco vintage at some point, it looks beautiful!
Wow! Love all of your beautiful projects! I can't believe you made color work socks for your first pair of hand knit socks. Amazing! My favorite project that I made this year was the Rusty Cardigan on Ravelry. It's a free pattern. It fits me perfect because I did a swatch like you're supposed to and which I didn't used to do. Now I know why swatching is so important. Here's to another year of beautiful makes. P.s. I made over 200 knit or crochet socks, hats, baby blankets, dish cloths, doll clothes, sweaters, baby quilts, and I even knit a sheep and several gnomes. Most of these items were donated to various charities, but the 21 pairs of socks I knit are Christmas gifts or for me. I knit two sweaters for myself and hope to do more next year. Oh and one crochet sweater for me too. :) :)
To be fair it was my second pair of socks, the first were just a vanilla pair. I couldn't have done it without the class! You made so many things this year!! Wow!! Thanks so much for sharing! 💛
I love this video! I’m getting ready to crochet my first cat doll and didn’t know what kind of yarn 🧶 to use. Thank you! That rabbit 🐇 is absolutely beautiful!!!!😮
Loved the episode! Must say to everyone that may have had sticker shock looking at the Rowan price per oz, If you have ever worked with it you understand it. Rowan yarns are pure magic
Yes!!!! They are sooooo gorgeous. It was worth every penny to knit the Wild Rabbit with. It looks even more beautiful in person and close up. You can see all the variations in the color. They are one of my favorite yarn brands! 🧶🧶🧶
Prior to coming to the US I tried Nako Calico, Balloon amigo pingouin, and Copito. That last one is a Colombian brand and being 100% acrylic is insane how great it is, feels like a blend, it's soft, great saturation, glides like butter, stitch definition is perfect! I miss it so much. If I ever go back to my home country, I'll bring you some jajajajaja Other than that, I made a red panda fully with I love this Yarn, and it was great! I like it! I have yet to try other value yarns like Loops and Threads, Big Twist value/soft were not bad, and I strongly dislike Red Heart for amigurumis. I would be great to have a video working with value yarns. I think a lot of people start with such yarns to get a good amount of yarn for less money. I've seen some videos raking them or talking about them, but they lack the info pertaining how they used them, and specially how they work for amigurumis. I love you, and your channel. Thank you for your great videos, valuable info, and amazing talent!
I crochet plushies and I love the alize velluto yarn, at my local store it costs 3,49, frogs really well and almost dosen't shed. The yarn is like a cloud, I've made a few plushies with it and they are amaizing. It's perfect for crocheing plushies. I really reccomend it.
also, I just want to say I ADORE your content. I discovered amigurumi back in 2021 and I'm even more obsessed with it now and your videos have taught me so much along the way. I love your enthusiasm for the craft, sometimes I wish you were my cool yarny aunt that I could go yarn shopping with XD I'm a viewer from Indiana btw, I know you like to hear where people are from :D
Haha!!! I love the idea of being someone's cool yarny aunt!! ❤️❤️❤️ And thank you for sharing where you're from! I've only been to Indiana once to South Bend! 🧶
My absolutely favourite for amigurumi is Ricorumi from Rico. I'm not giving chance to any other brand yarn anymore. They are the best to work with, have lots of choice colours and all my amigurumi seem amazingly perfect.
I’ll add an endorsement for the Hobby Lobby I Love This Cotton yarn. I am making some amigurumi elves for my niece and nephews for Christmas and I have no complaints. It’s inexpensive, but feels great, crochets nicely and doesn’t seem to have a pilling problem. And bonus-it comes in so many colors! I usually use Schachenmayr Catalina for my amis, but I wanted to make the dolls bigger. I do not regret my decision, or the small stash I’ve built up from my leftovers. They’ll definitely get used!
Thank you for this video! I recently got some new yarn, but i realized it wasn't really for amigurumi. It worked better with clothes and accessories. Now I know what yarn to actually use. 😁
I love making amigurumi and made a few of them, i like using the bernat baby or bernat blanket, loops and threads sweet snuggles or the primier just chenile, bernat blanket velvet, lillys sugar and cream cotton yarn
I just love your channel. I use the yarns you’ve suggested earlier in this series. I do test out yarns for strength and endurance because I want all the things I make to last. I also crochet blankets and grown up sweaters. Love them. Still love making toys for my grandkids but also for me. I’ll keep this video so I can remember the bonus for yarns for next year. Hugs
Thank you so much!! It's so much fun to have lots of different projects to make!! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that crochets toys for myself!! 😂😂😂
Thank you for this review. It is very helpful❣️I love the cotton fair ❣️ I live nearby Herrschners store + get the cotton fair when its on sale. Like you, i wish it came in more colors. I use it for making doilies + table runners. I look forward to watching your toy making tutorials.
Thank you so much, Elise! I am working on my first amigurumi and using Knit Picks Comfy. It is 75% cotton, 25% acrylic and super soft! It glides over my crochet hook. It comes in about 34 different colors and retails for $4.49 for 3.5 ounces. Not a great deal but it was on sale for Black Friday. I am definitely going to try some of the options you spoke about. Thank you so much. You have been a great inspiration!
I love Hobbii’s 8/4 Rainbow cotton (so many colors!) and Yarnart Jeans for my amigurumi. I am in the US so I have to order online and shipping can take a little while but I usually order so much that I have plenty to keep me busy while I wait for the mailman lol
Thank you so much for sharing!! Where do you get the Yarnart Jeans? I've looked for it online before and couldn't find it. I've heard a lot of good things about it! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet I buy it on etsy from PerfectYarns. He usually has them 20% off and if you buy 30, you get 5 free (just put the free colors in the comment section during checkout). I also order enough for free shipping because I just love lots of yarn and I hate paying for shipping lol
Thanks for another great video. Since starting amigurumi I’ve struggled quite a bit to find a yarn I like with being in Australia. I’ve tried some of the premier yarns and I think my favourite at the moment is wool select. My daughter gave me a elephant kit to crochet for my granddaughter and the yarn is an acrylic dk called Sean Sheep. It crochets up beautifully and I love it but sadly I think it’s been discontinued. 😢
One of my favorites is OH Baby Organic Cotton from Lion Brand. It doesn't come with a lot of yardage but is so easy to work with. The other downer is it doesn't come in very many colors. Maybe someone can tap Lion Brand on the shoulder 🤔 to ask them to expand the color choices.
I have been looking for the PERFECT color for the people amigurumi my 12 year old son has asked mommy to make for him. I loved this video, but I don’t want to have skeins and skeins of yarn leftover if I vowed to after making them to never make again. I was wondering what you thought of the Premier Minikins yarn? These happen to have the right colors I am looking for. Because I am always making, I went ahead and ordered the colors in the amounts I need. If they don’t work, they won’t go to waste. But I would really like to hear your thoughts on the brand line.
Great content! Ice yarns has similar yarns to Cotton Fair. They are Lorena and Alara. Alara is 3wt cotton/acrylic and Lorena comes in many different ways but is also cotton /acrylic blend. Very budget friendly even with shipping. However, must buy in packs rather than single skeins
this video was soooo helpful!! thankyou!! I also love the yarn bee soft and sleek yarn it's really cheep $5 for 5 oz but it's sooooo good for amigurumi! it always makes my projects so soft and squishy!!!
I'm currently working on an amigurumi project for a Christmas gift, and I'm using Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima. It's a 100% cotton yarn, DK weight, and I love it! It's soft and it comes in 59 colors! It's about 3.5 oz (100 grams) and it's $13.50 a hank, but I buy it online from WEBS and it's usually part of their WEBS discount. If you spend $60 on eligible yarn, you get 20% off, which is pretty easy to do, and 25% off if you spend $120. If I did my math correctly, without a discount, it comes to about $3.86 per oz, and with the discount, it comes to about $3.09 per oz, so it looks like It falls somewhere between the premium and luxury yarns. I also use Knit Picks Brava worsted sometimes and Redheart super saver yarn, but I think I'm going to try out some of the budget friendly yarns you mentioned and see if I like those better than the Redheart, which I find to be rough and scratchy.
I agree with Red Hesrt being scratchy. I inherited a boatload of yarn from my Mom and it's good strength wise but oh so scratchy, I don't like handling it! Trying to use it up making market bags that aren't cuddled or worn!!
What size will a kitten and her mittens be? I like making smaller toys. I love cats and hope she will have a knit wardrobe. I find your yarn videos so helpful.
Thank you!! Just binging your videos now haha, but have you ever tried milk cotton yarn? I've been scouring all the types of yarn I can find but I think my favourite right now is still milk cotton (cotton + casein fiber) - I'm a super junior newbie though, so I don't actually know if it's the best (although I touched everything at my local Michael's and didn't find anything more comfortable - except silk & shiny in ice toffy) and curious about your opinion! I find it's super soft, not very stretchy but quite silky (could be great for those that are sensitive too). I wonder if it could be a bit drapey due to the smoothness, but I've found so far it holds shape really well (and most importantly super nice on my hands), although definition is not very clear since it has a tendency to unwind. I have a lot of trouble sourcing it though (and the ones available have shipping premium)... Also, have you tried bamboo blends?
I have not tried milk cotton, but there are a lot of people who love it! It's not available in my area, but if you love it that's great! And I also have not tried bamboo! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Maybe consider some of these blends if you can't quite work with cotton but love a lot of its properties? Although your wool and blended stuff is absolutely beautiful haha, but could be some more things to consider. I find it soo comfortable. Thanks for your response! And your wildly informative & entertaining videos :)
I use Katia planet mostly it's an acrylic yarn that comes in many colors and has a needle size 4-5, i have some durable coral cotton yarn but i haven't used that yet and a sock yarn called cats and dogs opal
Huh.. I've lived in Davidson county in Tennessee for over 10 years and I never knew there was a luxury yarn brand made there! I think my mom would love to hear this!
My favorite day of the week! I love to watch your videos while I have breakfast! 😃 I just placed an order for some Hobbii yarn. Unfortunately, it shipped from Denmark and it's been almost 2 weeks and no package updates.. I am itching from trying it but at this point, I'm just hopeful it will make it here to Texas! Has anyone used it before?
I can totally understand your impatience!! I would want it to hurry and get to me as well!! I haven't tried that one!! Hopefully someone else has and can chime in! 🧶🧶🧶
Hi, Elise! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge! Most everyone is looking forward to Christmas, I am too! However, I can't wait till it's over 'cause then I'll have time to practice making amigurumis! I want to put up more shelves in my craft room so that can display my toys as I make them. 😊 I was wondering if you've ever used Hobby Lobby's 'I Love This Yarn' for making your amigurumis? If so, what was your experience? Thank you!
Would you consider creating a printable chart with your yarn reviews and recommendations? I can’t remember the ones you say you like and why and I really appreciate your opinion!
Sometimes I just use blush, but that doesn't seem to last long. I've also used chalk pastels. I've also heard of some people using crayons and rubbing it on the area they want to put color. And once I used watercolors. Hope that helps! Lots of options! 💞
I tend to use the same exact yarn in a project. Yarns, even the same weight can vary in thickness. I would especially stick to the same yarn if you're making clothes for amigurumi. 🧶🧶🧶
I'm a few months into crochet/amigurumi but I've become a BIG yarn freak! Have tried a LOT in these few months. My faves are Yarn Art Jeans for sport, Hobbii 8/8 or 8/6 cotton in DK, & Yarn Bee anti-pilling for worsted weight. I also LOVE Bernat Velvet for Bulky & Bernat Blanket for super bulky. Have some other faves in worsted. Can't use wool/alpaca because of allergies so cotton blends & acrylics work just fine for me. Not a fan of polyester or nylon yarns either. Cotton Fair frays a little too much for me🤪. Yarn Bee sugarwheel cotton is also good IMHO. My TOTES fave is Caron Cotton cakes in worsted. I LOVE that yarn! Have some "I love this Cotton/yarn" I haven't tried yet.... we'll see. Not a fan of Premier so far.🫶🩷 Thanks again for another GREAT video & content!
Have you tried I love this yarn ( 4 ply) acrylic yarn for toys? It’s my favorite yarn for Afghans and hats. Can you tell me if it’s good for toys? Thanks :)
I've only ever used Red Heart Super Saver because that's the most readily-made available for where I live (there's a reason why I sometimes call Vermont "Voidmont", LOL! I've never really educated myself with what other kinds of yarns other people use to make amigurumi, and now...I've got 10+ bins FULL of mostly Red Heart stuff, with the exception of some bulky yarn for when I made super-sized gryphons. I might need to go through a good chunk of yarn before I really should get more yarn because I'm seriously running out of space in my art studio room! 🤣
So the last pair you mentioned. It would be cheaper to go find hand-spun yarn from wool of any kind. I raise angora rabbits and could blend wool and spin yarn that has that same halo effect the 17$ yarn gives. Just an interesting different point of view hopefully.
Hey Elise, do you have a video, or can you make a video on affordable, as well as, more pricey straight and circular needles/kits? I want to purchase good quality needles of both kinds especially, for hats, scarves and mittens!!❤️🥰🙏🏼
I’m currently using lanaloft wool from Brown Sheep Co. which is one of my absolute favorites! I’ve used it for hats, mittens, cowls and scarves also 🥰. Great video as usual 👍🏼🧶….. Karen from Greenleaf Idaho
Thank you for information! Please make this same information about Granny Squares! I need a baby and throw to create and I’m having problems with what yarn use! Please help!
Thanks for all the info, I appreciate the way you make your videos! I enjoy doing the amigurumi dolls with Katia Menfis and capri very lovely they come from Spain
Love these kinds of videos on your channel. Your reviews are the best! I love a lot of those. Personally, if you make smaller things (like ornaments) the Premier Just yarn from Dollar Tree is pretty great! Now the color options will be limited by the time of year but stock up on colors til December and you have a great little stash.
Just a question... wondering why Lion brand wool-ease is never mentioned. I've done a number of projects with it, and thought it was wonderful. Just starting amigurumi and will likely try it for toys. Anything I should know??
I've used Lion Brand Wool Ease for a hat and blanket, but it's such a thick yarn that I don't know how well it would work for amigurumi. But I think it's a great idea to experiment with it! 🧶🧶🧶
I adore luxury yarns but I'm always afraid to buy any because I have no idea what I would do with them! LOL I do have a knit shawl pattern that I'm tempted to use some for but I need to get better at knitting before taking the plunge. :)
Rowan and Burraco yarns are my favorite. Can I afford them? Once I bought Rowan and just loved it! It crochet like a dream! The Burraco, I bought several skeins and because they are so expensive I put them in a drawer and won't use them! LOL!😁
Lol!! I have a hard time using up my most expensive yarns!! Although Rowan is typically more expensive for me than the Berroco. But I'm sure prices can vary depending on where you're buying them!🧶🧶🧶
My favorites are I Love This Yarn, (not the cotton or neon or anything. Just the original,) the Red Heart With Love, (though I'm not sure they make it anymore?) Impeccable that I found at Michaels, and sometimes the Caron One Pound yarns that I've seen at Michaels and Jo Anns. The Caron is especially good for me because I can buy the one color and make a whole bunch of hats with it, which is exactly what I'm gonna do. I got a blue one recently, so I'm gonna use all of it to make the Tardis hats to sell at the next Long Island Who Con. I feel like the ones I get are cheap-to-mid price point. If I got anything expensive, it would up the price I sell them for, and I don't want to up anything yet. Maybe if I do a one of a kind item in the future, but I'll see. I gotta ask, though - while I love the look of the finished product, (the bunny, in this case,) is it really annoying working with yarn that has that fluffiness/halo to it?
Oooh! Thanks so much for sharing your favorite yarns, Kate! With the Rowan yarns, it isn't annoying at all to work with. I absolutely love those yarns. The only issue is if you make a mistake and have to frog the mohair sticks and it's not fun. I've heard of people putting their projects in the freezer if they have to frog mohair for that very reason!! Irs definitely not practical for toy making but goodness they are gorgeous yarns. ❄️🧶💗
@@EliseRoseCrochet Lol, omg, I just had a mental image of a husband looking in the freezer for soemthing, heaving a sigh, and saying, "Honey, why is your yarn in the freezer again?"

Welcome to the club!! Haha!! 😂😂😂 Glad you're enjoying the content!! 🧶🧶🧶
Me too! If you need a buddy to learn with let me know! Lol
Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
That bunny at the end is everything...!Oh my gosh!LOVE.
Thank you so much! Dot Pebbles patterns are amazing!! 🧶🧶🧶
I love the paintbox yarns. They don’t dry out my hands like others and they hold the shape of your amigurumi project.
They are fantastic!! 🧶🧶🧶

So far, "I love this yarn" is currently my go to for Amigurumi.
I know a lot of people love that yarn for amigurumi!! It's a good name for it! 🧶🧶🧶
I know that this is an older video but I am just getting into amigurumi and knitting animals and I wanted to share how much I appreciated this video! I am enjoying the amigurumi playlist!
Awww, thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet What amigurumi book would you recommend a newbie to start with? I have watched your book videos but can't decide which one to start with. ❤
@@heatherinoklahoma I think the first Animal Friends of Pica Pau book is the one I would start with!
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it! ❤❤❤
We have a local yarn shop here in Omaha that carries the Berroco Vintage, and since it was my birthday, hubby took me over there to pick out some hanks. The lovely ladies there rewound it into cakes and I can't wait to use it!
Oooh! Yay! I hope you love it as much as I do! 🧶🧶🧶
I don’t do amigurumi but blue sky fibers yarn in cotton in an absolute favorite, it’s the softest 100% cotton I’ve ever felt.
Oooh!! I'll have to check that out. Cotton is so great for amigurumi!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you! ❤️
I only just started making plushies, but so far Bernat Blanket yarn is my favorite!! It’s soft, snuggly, and I’m addicted to how it feels! ❤
But I’m also a touch biased cause I like those plush/velvety type yarns 😂
Right now I love Gründl Cotton Quick print a lot. I love to make squids and other sea creatures and the striped yarn gives them lovely patterns. It's also really nice to work with (I have no problems with fraying at all) and I love the shimmer from being mercerized. To me it feels even nicer than Catania.
Thank you so much for sharing! I haven't heard of that yarn before! 🧶🧶🧶
I just love how much information you share! Soooo informative!!💕
I'm so glad it was helpful!! 🧶💗🧶💗
If it wasn't for you... I wouldn't have thought about berroco vintage yarns. You're 100% right, it is like BUTTER!! And yes... it's my absolute favourite too. I also love Debbie Bliss collection... lovely to use when making scarves or cardis
I'm so glad you like the Berroco Vintage!! It's such a pretty yarn and works so great for toys!! 🧶🧶🧶
This video came just in time I was getting so overwhelmed with all the options, thank you!
There are soooo many options! I'm glad the video helped!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much for the suggestion!! I love this idea!! Will have to make a list all these yarns to try one of these days! 🧶🧶🧶
That rabbit at the end,is beautiful! 💜❤️ Happy New Year,Elise!🎆🎈
Thank you so much! Happy New Year! 🎆2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣❤️🧶✨
My favorite budget friendly yarn is Caron Simply Soft. Lots of colors to choose from, works up well, wears well, and, most importantly, is soft.
Thank you so much for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much, Nicole! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! It's so nice to have a variety in the stash! 🧶🧶🧶

It’s a dream, when you get all your projects done or eliminated. I’m well on my way through my list of WIPs, so I’ll be able to purchase yarn for new projects! 🙃
thanks for the recommendations! i made a plush for my friend and she loved it!!
You're so welcome! That's wonderful! ⭐
Oh that merino yarn sound amazing!!!!! 🧶🧶🧶 cotton is nice for the kitchen!! ❤️
Bernat Blanket yarn I make chunky Dino’s with it and at Joann’s it’s originally 12 dollars but usually on sale for about 8 it uses an 8mm crochet hook and works up pretty fast
Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much for your yarn reviews!! I love learning about other yarns that I haven't tried before!!!🧶🧶🧶
Oh! Kitten and her mittens - eeeeee! I can not wait
I'm so glad it was helpful!! It definitely takes time to find those favorites!! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet I’m just now knitting my first pair of color work socks. It’s slow going but definitely fun.
I love this video! I’m getting ready to crochet my first cat doll and didn’t know what kind of yarn 🧶 to use. Thank you! That rabbit 🐇 is absolutely beautiful!!!!😮
Big twist cuddle yarn is great too and almost always on sale for around 5 dollars at JoAnn fabrics and uses an 8mm crochet hook
Thanks for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
I am in the UK and my favourite is Sheepjes Catona.
Love your channel. Thank you xx
Thank you for sharing!! I've heard a lot of good things about that yarn!!
Thank you so much for the suggestion and for sharing those different yarns!! 🧶🧶🧶
I crochet plushies and I love the alize velluto yarn, at my local store it costs 3,49, frogs really well and almost dosen't shed. The yarn is like a cloud, I've made a few plushies with it and they are amaizing. It's perfect for crocheing plushies. I really reccomend it.
Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
also, I just want to say I ADORE your content.
I was raised in the area, Goshen actually. Northern Indiana and South West Michigan is a beautiful rural farm area, Amish country.
I love red heart super saver, it’s budget friendly and very simple to find.
Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
My absolutely favourite for amigurumi is Ricorumi from Rico. I'm not giving chance to any other brand yarn anymore. They are the best to work with, have lots of choice colours and all my amigurumi seem amazingly perfect.
Oooh! Thank you for sharing!!!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the I Love This Cotton Yarn!! I've heard a lot of good things about it! 🧶🧶🧶
I mostly use premier antipilling yarn for most projects. If wool is needed then I generally use berroco .
Both fantastic yarns! 🧶🧶🧶
I love the ‘I Love This Cotton’ brand as well! I’m new to the Amigurumi scene and to me that Yarn works best for me!
I really love the little Pooko’s friends amigurumi! They have so many options and accessories
I'll have to look those up! Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks so much for sharing those yarns!! 🧶🧶🧶
I don't have a Hobby Lobby around me. I also love using Red Heart yarn.😊 Is it a good yarn for Amigarumi?
Thank you for this review. It is very helpful❣️I love the cotton fair ❣️ I live nearby Herrschners store + get the cotton fair when its on sale. Like you, i wish it came in more colors. I use it for making doilies + table runners. I look forward to watching your toy making tutorials.

Thank you Elise for all the different yarns for Amigurumi , my favorite is basic yarns and red heart soft .

I love using Joanns big twist value worsted yarn for amigurimi. I definitely want to try Premier's basix yarn. Great video 🤗🤗🤗
I wish we had a Joann's nearby!! Well, maybe it's a good thing we don't have one!! 😂😂😂
I do really like the Wool Select as well! I hope you find some yarns that are readily available there in Australia that you love! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much for sharing!! Its always tough when you love a yarn but they don't have many colors! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks so much for sharing that!! I don't believe I've heard of that yarn before and will definitely look it up! 🧶🧶🧶
I love Ice Yarns!
Lilly sugar and cream is my favorite cotton yarn, I’ve seen it go for about 3.50 for 3-4 oz

this video was soooo helpful!! thankyou!! I also love the yarn bee soft and sleek yarn it's really cheep $5 for 5 oz but it's sooooo good for amigurumi! it always makes my projects so soft and squishy!!!
Oooh!! Thank you so much for sharing!! 🧶🧶🧶
Oh yes!! I've used Cascade Ultra Pima before and that's a fantastic yarn for amigurumi!! Thanks for sharing the yarns you use!! 🧶🧶🧶
I really love all Cascade yarns.
Thank you so much! I haven't measured it, but it's approximately 9 inches and the clothing will be knit! Working hard to get the pattern finished! 🧶🧶🧶

Unfortunately, it shipped from Denmark and it's been almost 2 weeks and no package updates.. I am itching from trying it but at this point, I'm just hopeful it will make it here to Texas! What crochet number do you use ?
I’m making Amigurumi with this yarn but my project has holes 😟
Hi, Elise!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge!
Most everyone is looking forward to Christmas, I am too! However, I can't wait till it's over 'cause then I'll have time to practice making amigurumis! I want to put up more shelves in my craft room so that can display my toys as I make them. 😊
I was wondering if you've ever used Hobby Lobby's 'I Love This Yarn' for making your amigurumis? If so, what was your experience?
Thank you!
I totally understand that feeling!! I have not tried that yarn, but I would like to, so many people have recommended it! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet , looking forward to that video! Thank you!! 😊
Would you consider creating a printable chart with your yarn reviews and recommendations? I can’t remember the ones you say you like and why and I really appreciate your opinion!
That's a great idea!! I should make a chart and put it on the blog! Thanks for the recommendation! 🧶🧶🧶
What do you use for the blush effect on your Amigurumi?
Sometimes I just use blush, but that doesn't seem to last long. I've also used chalk pastels. I've also heard of some people using crayons and rubbing it on the area they want to put color. And once I used watercolors. Hope that helps! Lots of options! 💞
Should I stick to the same brand for the same doll. Like if I am using two colors does it matter if you use one cotton and one acrylic type lets say?
Have some "I love this Cotton/yarn" I haven't tried yet.... we'll see.
Not a fan of Premier so far.🫶🩷
Thanks again for another GREAT video & content!
Btw, coming at ya from DFW, Texas.🌟❤️🔥
Thank you soooo much for sharing your favorites!!! So good to learn about new yarns!!! 🧶🧶🧶
That's wonderful! My family is from Ft. Worth! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have you tried I love this yarn ( 4 ply) acrylic yarn for toys? It’s my favorite yarn for Afghans and hats. Can you tell me if it’s good for toys? Thanks :)
I haven't but I've heard a lot of good things about it! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much for sharing! I imagine it's fun to have the bunnies as well!! 🐰🐰🐰
Thank you for this video. I really want to try crochet a toy this upcoming new year
You're so welcome!! They are so much fun to make!! 🧶🧶🧶

When you use Berocco Vintage hanks, do you hand wind it into a ball or use a yarn winder?
Before I had a swift and ball winder I wound them by hand! 🧶🧶🧶
Great video!
I love the premier cotton. It has a very tidy look to it. Also, I use it for embroidering amigurumi (you can split the plies).
Oooh! Thank you for the idea about using it to embroider by splitting the plies!! What a great idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thanks for all the info, I appreciate the way you make your videos! I enjoy doing the amigurumi dolls with Katia Menfis and capri very lovely they come from Spain
Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you so much!! And I've been hearing a lot of good things about the Premier Dollar Tree yarn! I'm going to have to check it out!! 🧶🧶🧶
I have a question. Have you heard instead of yarning over, yarn under your hook makes amigurimi look better?
Yes! I have a video about it! I love the look, but it made my wrist hurt quite a bit! ❤️
May I ask the name of the video?
Premiere is at dollar tree too. Glad to know they are a decent brand
Yes!! I've been hearing a lot of good things about that yarn at Dollar Tree! Premier is a great yarn brand! 🧶🧶🧶
I don't blame you for waiting to buy luxury yarns. I don't have a lot of them, but they are wonderful for certain projects! 🧶🧶
Took notes on the second watch.
Thanks for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
But I'm sure prices can vary depending on where you're buying them!🧶🧶🧶
I just got into crocheting. I have some joint issues as well. Why does Cotten hurt your joints? Does it move around more?
Cotton has less stretch than other fibers like wool and acrylic. 🧶🧶🧶
I'm really enjoying all your amigurumi videos 💜
I'm so glad! ❤️❤️❤️
@@kateworkman921 😂😂😂
I love Ice Yarn amigurumi yarn!!!
Thanks so much for sharing! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for all your helpful information. Just curious, what’s your opinion on Walmart’s Red heart yarn?
What's funny is that I haven't tried that one yet!! 🧶🧶🧶
