    I forgot to plug in my external iPhone mic so what you’re hearing is just the mic from my iPhone. Seemed to capture the audio ok but not as good. Oh well, next time. Also, looks like the audio went out of sync with the video somewhere around the 4:46 mark because my alarm went off on phone disturbing the connection. Hey, at least you can hear what's going on. lol.

    Enjoyed everything you shared, Ronnie. I'm happy to have found you, it's no coincidence either. Just two days ago I discovered The Rocket on musiciansfriend, loving it all, though it seemed expensive. I've not bought a Hohner since several attempts to buy a set of three Special 20's that were not in tune or near air tight. Their 'Blues' Harmonicas, wooden combs, failed to perform, too. I have purchased three Seydels and love them. However, bending notes with any sustain has been hard to achieve for me. I've read about players who've disassembled harmonicas' and have a process that makes the reeds more bendable. My lungs were partially paralyzed forty-three years ago, a result of a spinal cord injury. My hands don't work, goodbye guitar. Playing along with my favorites are my way of exercising my lungs and serve as one of my hobbies. I have a Special 20 in F that I've found only a few songs this key goes along with, but am greatly impressed with your lesson in a low F. I went to the link you shared and see the Marine Band for fifty-four dollars. The Rocket at $84 - a nice set of five Rockets, in very familiar keys, for $236ish. Can you point me at the harmonica most likely to allow longer sustain when bending notes or am I whipping a dead horse?

    If you swoon over the LF, I challenge all to get into a LLF I got a Seydal recently and it can start to vibrate a listener’s chest if they are close enough.

    Low F works great for jazzy ballads or even melodic country songs in C where you need to emulate the feel of a fiddle or a saxophone.

    Picked up a Suzuki Manji in low F a while back and love it. If you let your teeth touch the harp while playing chords in low notes they will be rattled. I have to drive a lot for my work and get my practice in while driving playing one handed. I like to improv along with songs on the radio.

    Thanks for the video. I wish I could get my chords as sweet as yours! You might have made Sweetwater sell out of the low F..
    I think you might have caused me to get my first Rocket. I really love how they feel and play! (Can't beat the colors!!) I think they are easier than a special 20 and sound way better. Thanks!

    The low F and the low F sharp are great for if you are tuning your acoustic guitar down a half step or even a full step. For example if you're playing a lot of the Neil Young songs which the harmonica in the key of G then you need to replace it with an F sharp if your guitar is tuned down a whole step. You could always use a regular tuned F sharp but it is so high up on the register that it just doesn't sound right.

    Thanks for this new video, very interesting as usual but you play so well I am definitely stuck in the same question : going for Rocket or Thunderbird, not only because of the lowest note but because I plan to use my harps with some effect pedals (mainly overdrive/distortion or fuzz, reverb & delays as well). So what do you think ?

    Hey Ronnie, right now I’ve got a set of harmonicas I bought for about $40. Does the bending of the sound get easier with more expensive harmonicas?

    • @Harmonica123
      @Harmonica123  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Up to a point yes. The beginning sweet spot for a harmonica that's easier to bend is around $40. If you go much lower those reeds are gapped funky or too high making it more challenging to bend. Special 20 is a good one!

    • @norfolknwhey4787
      @norfolknwhey4787 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sp20 is probably the easiest to start bending on for sure. Another option is a Lee Oskar, but they are not as forgiving as a sp20. Until you learn how to adjust reed gapping, it’s best to stick with nicer options ($40-60) to avoid unnecessary frustration.
