I don’t know why, but, I am one of those “rare” Gen-Zs who really love listening to old song, specifically OPM. I always thought that these songs pave the way to many things in the present. I was always enchanted with old performances of singers like Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera, Jaya, Lani Misalucha, Gary Valenciano, and of course, Ogie Alcasid. They are the foundation of the emerging “New Generation” of singers. For me, watching all these performance are just like reminiscing special memories in the past. 💚💚

What’s impressive in this performance? 1. So feminine, bagay na bagay yung areglo sa boses nya. 2. Dynamincs! Lowest to highest register was showcased 3. Less movements, unlike any other singers (new or old) halos mangisay na pag kumakanta with belting. 4. Super galing sa 4:58, notice it everyone! Yung belting pabuga! Hindi paipit, tulad ng ibang gumagaya. And lastly 5. for me the most impressive ones... yung ending! Yun ang pinakamahirap iperfect at isustain eh. You have to do it with power also kung hindi matatabunan ka ng instrument. Songbird did it well, so powerful kahit na ang layo layo na ng mic sa bibig nya. Either you can make it or break it. First attempt nya to sing this song was in Martin and Regine The World Tour sa Araneta and she didn’t sustain the last part. Nagbreak agad yung boses nya. Then she mastered it and sing it again here sa One Enchanting Night Concert. After several years, she sung it again sa Songbird Musical Show and she proved to us kaya pa nya in her 40s. Less movements, unlike any other singers (new or old) halos mangisay na pag kumakanta with belting. 4. Super galing sa 4:58, notice it everyone! Yung belting pabuga! Hindi paipit, tulad ng ibang gumagaya. And lastly 5. for me the most impressive ones... yung ending! Yun ang pinakamahirap iperfect at isustain eh. You have to do it with power also kung hindi matatabunan ka ng instrument. Songbird did it well, so powerful kahit na ang layo layo na ng mic sa bibig nya. Either you can make it or break it. First attempt nya to sing this song was in Martin and Regine The World Tour sa Araneta and she didn’t sustain the last part. Nagbreak agad yung boses nya. Then she mastered it and sing it again here sa One Enchanting Night Concert. After several years, she sung it again sa Songbird Musical Show and she proved to us kaya pa nya in her 40s. Now, let’s wait if she will do this again in Asap or in any other show. Ganun tayo kamahal ni Songbird. Alam nya kung ano makakapagpaligaya sa ating mga Reginian. Long live the Queen! 👸❤️
