- Today, Saturday, August 17th, we prepare to bid farewell to my parents, who are departing for India this evening. Their shopping and packing were completed well in advance, a week ago.
We dropped off Nanda at Plano Senior High School for a music camp around 9 a.m. After lunch, we picked up Nanda from school and continued to the airport.
Their flight is scheduled for 6:55 p.m., and it is a 30-minute drive to the airport from our place. We arrived three hours early. As a gesture of love and gratitude, Arun, Sunil, Veeru, Yeshu, Rohin, and Indu will accompany us to the airport to give them a heartfelt send-off.
Their visit has been a cherished chapter in our lives. They arrived on May 22nd, just before Nanda’s school year concluded, and have spent nearly three months exploring the richness of Dallas.
We’ve endeavored to show them the very best of what this place has to offer-taking them to as many attractions and places as possible during this short span, introducing them to the Dallas Sahaja Yoga Center, and engaging in sacred rituals during the Karkkitakam Malayalam month, during which Amma chanted the Ramayanam continuously.
Their days have been filled with visits to various temples, delightful culinary adventures across Chinese, Mexican, American, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Indian cuisines, and glimpses into Nanda’s new school life.
We even enjoyed a Malayalam film together, adding to the tapestry of their experience.
We have reserved the rest for their next visit.
As we reflect on these past three months, we hope they leave with fond memories of their time here.
It is a 14-and-a-half-hour flight from Dallas to Doha and a 4:30-hour flight from Doha to Bangalore. We opted for Qatar Airways, which allows 23 kg of checked baggage and one 7 kg carry-on for each passenger. I booked and confirmed wheelchair assistance for both Amma and Achan; unfortunately, Amma did not receive wheelchair assistance in Doha and Bangalore. I have raised a complaint with Qatar Airways.
19th August 2:30 am they landed in Bangalore Airport.
Their journey continues as Angad, my sister, my brother-in-law, and Angad’s friends warmly received them at Bangalore Airport and led them to Wayanad.
By the afternoon of August 19th, they had safely arrived in Wayanad, marking the end of their memorable trip to the U.S. and the beginning of new adventures in Wayanad.
Wish them the best❤❤ Goodbyes are hard. Hope they enjoyed their visit!! Wish them a safe travel back to India.
