- Welcome back to the track Karman. After a 4 year absense the Ford Barra powered XR6 turbo awoke first pass off the trailer. The Falcon is still a full weight car with electric glass and factory interior. Quickest pass for the day was an easy 9.0 at 151mph. The 4L turbo six is now using E85 fuel.

What else needs to be said? The mighty Aussie Barra is easily worthy of tangoing with the RBs and 2Js...
Does the rb even compete? Fully built maybe but simple bolt ons on the mighty Barra and the 2j slaughter an rb
@@JXC98 not really 25s and 20s go hard as fuck the real downfall for the 26dett Is the awd system and how hard it is on the motor
@@samgemmell6617 yeah but stock DETs ain't much good for anything over 300kw. 26DETT is a different animal, it's pretty well built from factory as it has all the goodies, but it's not your average RB20 or RB25DET Neo. I love my XR6 but I don't love the fuel economy. A Skyline is much much easier on fuel as it's not a full size sedan like the Falcon, it's what the American's would call a compact car. There are many things to consider, but ultimately a wreckers yard NA Barra is much stronger than a wreckers yard RB25DE, but it's also much much heavier and the Skyline chassis isn't designed for that much weight up front. RB26DETT can only really be compared to a similar spec FPV Typhoon motor as they both got the goodies from factory. Built RBs go hard, but NA motors aren't as strong as an NA Barra...then again they don't weight the same either.
And they are cheap to build but rbs are expensive 😂
Funny as how people get on the xr6 turbo vids, see how ridiculously grunty they are then say how much better a supra or skyline is. That's actually a compliment even bringing that up because its means they are comparing a Japanese sports car to an Australian family sedan lol.
I know mate I have flogged heaps of cars in my na xr6 now I got a turbo xr8
+howitis howitis especially since they've gone quicker and faster than this car with a zf and irs driven to and from the track now....
I know bro, and people forget that it weighs just under 2tonnes 🤣
The Japanese motors have also had years of research under their belts compared to the barra.
and the 2jz and rb’s of all kind are much different to the barra aswell 😄
Mustang: I'm so fast
Barra: u wat
Insane. Wheelie bars are on the shopping list now.
VL Calais Turbo & XR6 Turbo - Best Australian cars built.
the VL has a nissan RB30 so its heart isn't aussie
zacrx4
Nor is the body! The commodore originates from all over the globe! opel, chev, daweoo ect
zacrx4 Yeh thats the best thing Holden done, putting the Nissan RB30 in the VL. Its still an Australian car.
Fords best decision was making the XR6 & G6E come out in a straight 6 Turbo... And I think if it wasn't for the VL Turbo, Ford wouldn't of came out with the 4L Barra Turbo... Watch how popular the XR6T & G6ET will become within 10 years, just like the VL... Holden made a mistake not bringing the VZ & VE out with a Turbo 6... And this is coming from a Holden fan, one day ill like to own a G6E Turbo theyre mad cars, a modern VL Calais Turbo.
*****
Been ten years already. They certanly are popular!
***** Yeh but nothing like the VL was where im from (Wollongong)... The VL is like the most popular car ever in Wollongong. 10 years ago there was so many all over the place. Theres been heaps of VL cruises/meet ups in Wollongong... I think the G6E Turbo will become really popular once they get abit cheaper, like under $10k.
XR6 = VL Commodore
G6E = VL Calais
Aussie built Ford Barra 4L DOHC factory turbocharged inline six. These engines make anywhere from 240kW to 310kW in stock form.
The missus would have had to come out to the track with a new pair of duds if that was me driving lol.
Great car mate.
first proper wheelstand i've seen from an XR6T .. wicked...
it all comes down to personal preference, want a turbo? get a ford. Want an 8? get a holden.
Nothing wrong with the charged coyote v8 335 gt mate, or an fg 5.4
+Ucwepn It runs a bit deeper than that I think
Barra all the way XD
Or you could say buy Australian or buy American...
I'm a Holden fan but that XR6 is TUFF!
Get one imported my friend. make sure you get the FG Turbo 6 or FG Typhoon engine if you do.. all the issues were ironed out from earlier models by then.
so the motor is an Australian! mad props!
I apologise for my last comment, I may have been a little harsh. I think I understand your problem. VYs and VZs look almost the same from the rear, which is probably the only part of the car that you ever see when you are driving your Falcon.
The HFV6 (Alloytec) engine used by Holden since 2004 is a joint design effort by Holden and Cadillac. They are manufactured in Melbourne.
They were even exported to the US in the Pontiac G8s.
How many Barra I6 engines has Ford exported to the US?
Holy flying batman! Love it. Great footage
Well done Fullboost!
I wish they would bring this car/motor combo to America. So wicked!
That was sweet love the launch and wheelie. That straight sounds good with the whistle of the turbo.
You do. 04-06 Pontiac GTO is a Holden V2-VZ Monaro. Pontiac G8 is a Holden VE Commodore. The soon to be released Chevrolet SS is a VF Commodore.
any turbo'd straight six is awesome
That is one angry Ford my friend!!! Love it..
i loved the ute skatin down the track hahahah
The car is heading slightly to the right during launch, instinctivley he's turning left during the bigger wheelstands and thats whats causing it to head hard left when he comes down, making him lift, I had a similar problem with my 240z untill I saw video of it all happening then we sorted it out.
depends on ur transport department..... the 4 link rear would also be an issue.... BUT who cares, check it out. Ducking awesome!
If you want to speculate about the future Torana being based on the GM 130R (which is RWD, not AWD) then you could also say that there is just as much chance that the 2018 (and beyond) Commodore being based on the Cadillac Alpha platform.
I am a Falcon n00b because I live in the US (we don't have them). I would like to know if there are any good resources where I can learn about them? Thanks
lots of info written online, checkout the fordxr6turbo.com and fordforums.com.au forums as well. First one is not as busy but specific to the car.
Plain and simple, falcons are the Aussie brilliance of the mustang. Very versatile power machines. Ps Google is your best friend !
nutnfan1 The falcon was originally an American built car to sell with the mustang and Thunderbird but wasnt successful. They got sent over here and we made them what they are today. Go read wikipedia articles they have tonnes of info about them from the xk falcon right up to the fgx falcon.
The Zf was the first ever Australian designed and built Ford. And they've come a long way only to die out cause of a fucking recession.
If you want a Barra engine I know a guy importing em and parts. They're not cheap persay, but they're versatile, narrow, but also tall and long, doing a ranger 4x4 myself. It's gonna a wild ride
The ozzie falcons have been local designed and built since 1972. None of the variations were shipped to the states like holden did with the commodore. Unfortunate really as it looks like the falcon is coming to an end over here. Luckily this engine was sold in nearly all of them for the last 12 years so theres plenty to go round! :)
man what shifters that looks sick , air shifter?
That thing hooks up
yes i know that turbocharged vehicles are not available to P platers to drive. But the n/a versions of the xr6, would they be an ideal car to drive?
And of course I'll go through the phase of modding my car up a bit. and then maybe, if i can afford it maybe tweak some power out of the engine liek turbo and bigger cams ect.
I also have the s13 silvia and 180sx, or a sv6 vz as my p plate car. I drive a ford laser 87 kc hatchback, to learn manual as im a learner with 88 hours logged
Well guess I know what engine I want when I start building a drag car in the next year
what rear end is in it? 4 link ? the things nuts i love it
this is a beauty
It’s funny how he try’s steering whilst in the wheelie 😂
And having a 9" is not just about handling high hp..theyre more reliable than anything else out there...theyre bullet proof...its piece of mind knowing you have a 9" in the rear end..
i see the problem . the parachute is too heavy . it makes the car tail heavy . You should put the parachute on the front .
haha
what are the rim sizes/offsets and tyre sizes? ideal setup... awesome...!!
pretty sweet wheel stand!!! probley on 40-50psi.. impressive to say the least... I was more impressed by this video though Johnny's VT 8.8@151 - CV Performance (no forced induction.. standard stroke Ls1.. full weight vt) worth a look ;)
Your right bro they will discontinue the falcon and the commodore is next they will be changing out to mid sized AWD turbo car's the prototype torana is proof. Gonna hold on to my BF mkII xr6t gonna make it my toy now :)
Prop silly question but is that still IRS in the rear cause most got to a non IRS set up
V6 is better for weight distribution though. Straight 6 is almost twice as long as a V6 so there is a lot more weight towards the front of the car, and also weight in front of the front wheels. Having a cast iron block like the Barra engine makes it even worse.
That is why the VE and VF Commodores have 50:50 weight distribution, and the BA-FG Falcons don't.
TUFSS3 is a nitrous motor
So it takes a GM transmission to put that much power to the ground?
so close to an 8... hope he got there
I wish we had Holden in the states.
Thinking of importing a Barra 6 to the states. Just curious as to if these share a bell pattern with the modulars or not. wanting to have a manual trans behind it and 4x4 (ill use a 205 if i have to) also rather than fight to use falcon wiring in a f150 i was hoping someone could point me to a popular standalone for this engine.
hatech 2500
It's not all about the speed for me though, the xr-6 is the faster car and I like it for having an Australian built straight 6 because the straight 6 is one of my favorite layouts.
What's funny is Holden now trying desperately to disassociate themselves from bogan Holden Chev badge commodores. When you go broke that desperation tends to happen.
Settle down there, big fella.
Tuff love the ford 😍
there should be a light on your dash that turns on that looks like a car skidding
epic wheelstand
Its alright my dads xr6 Turbo has got 680 bhp at the rear wheels it flies
would it be a good ideal car for a p plater? not saying Im wanting one, just asking
damn what kinda motor is that thing running?
Does this have the high flow cat mod?
is he running chevy badges for 50 more hp
is that road legel btw?
love that ss ute skating down the strip haha
Hell yeah!
Love one eyed XR6T's! But I find most people will see the missing light and then all of a sudden have a change of mind and put there indicator on and turn :(
lol
pretty cool....for a family car
very true but America never had this model ford I don't think
It wasn't because you said you like the XR6T.
It was your comment " the XR6T shits on every Holden" that I took exception to.
Yep your right brother, just got an Rspec f6, gonna be worth shit loads in a few years
what kind of gear box is that
so sence the engine is aussie technelchly could u call it a holden
What do you mean "Holden is essentially Chevy"? The Chevrolet SS is a Holden, not the other way around. The LS engines are a product of GM Powertrain, not Chevrolet.

Ah, so you were talking to me.
To answer your question; yes, I understand English and I also understood what he was saying.
Do you?
Holden haven't used the Buick V6 since 2004. The Holden HFV6 engine used since then is a much more advanced engine than Ford's Barra 6 cyl.
Why are you talking about RB30s getting "smashed"? Holden used that engine 15 years ago, for two years! It made 120 kW, and 150kW for the turbo version. Comparing it to the 195 kW Barra engine is just stupid. Anyway, the 4.1 EFI engine in the XF Falcon only made 120 kW, and it was more than 1 litre bigger than the RB30. Ford was failing back then too.
CooooooL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fords transmissions can handle power.....the power glide is just a better option for drag racing. Thats like saying... You need a Ford 9" to put the power to the ground....well you probably do, because GM or any other car manufacturer for that matter, dont have diffs to handle high hp...
Which "Holden fans" said that?
That thing is fucking HECTIC
Toyota Supra owners can only wish they had something like this
thats mad!
This is an Australian Ford, Either a BA or BF Ford Falcon
so its not a standard in america.
Ford Auz = Ford US
Holden Auz = GM
Love it
awesome!!!!!!!
Im thinking of getting 2010 - 2014 xr6t anyone know whats the average price in Australia?
As cheap as $10,000 - $12,000 up to $25,000.
And that's why I like Holden over ford in many aspects, but it doesn't take away from the bad assery of the i6 turbo. Not to mention Holden is essentially Chevy, and I hate Chevy so it kinda taints Holden for me.
That's fucking amazing
Hope you find happiness in life....i have...everytime i see another holden try to have a run with me...but they still end up disapearing in my rear view haha
dope as : ) fords
cheers
You don't know what you are talking about. The Holden HFV6 engine was designed by Holden, and it is manufactured in Melbourne by Holden.
Ford Australia have NEVER designed their own V8 engine, they have always been copies of American V8 Ford engines. Holden designed and built their own V8s for 30 years before 1999.
that would look so cool if it was painted like a vic taxi
Yeah, I could go and buy myself a Super Clubby tomorrow too. Still wouldn't be as fast as my bike.
Yea, and now we're in 2013 and ford build there own i6 while Holden borrow all there engines. Not to mention I don't care for v8's in the slightest thence the reason I like the XR6 more than any Holden we have today.
i know ;) they go to 1.5 millions kms and the engine can still run if you take it to the dealer ;)
well, that escalated quickly
O shit!! "Wild"...it's true!!!
Ford fcks holden any day of the week, inline 6 ftw. Love ford.
the thing is, all those holden i smashed...the owners of those cars know it...cause ive come up against a couple of them again...and they gave respect where it was due.....Aside from some history details about holdens, I probably know more about them than you...Im a mechanic by trade, so ive been around a few cars in my time....fyi, im 6' 3", and I weigh 144 kg...good luck buddy...
I lean towards Holden because there's more variety of cars I like but the xr6 turbo shits on every Holden we have, I like the Xr6 turbo more than any Holden but I like more Holdens than I do fords, and I despise American fords.
This guy saying his cbr1000 is fast 😂 put it up against my hayabusa or 550rwkw f6 . Ford power
Probably done an eight by now !!
Holden never used the RB20 engine. They only used the RB30 in one model, the VL Commodore, over a period of two years. For forty years before that, Holden designed and built their own in-line 6 cyl engines in Melbourne.
Let's talk about V8 engines now. Ford Australia have NEVER designed their own V8 engine. They have always used copies of American Ford V8 engines. Holden designed and built their own V8s from 1969 to 1999.
I forgot the 179.
And there you go boys and girls, the differents between a 3 speed to a glide, 3 speed car are a lot more violent, 2 speed glide cars are less of a hand full,
