So you figured out how to get those Air Band programmed channels to scan ? That is very annoying if it refuses to scan non-ham frequencies. I am in the flight path of Kadena Air Base Okinawa and constantly am monitoring Air Traffic.
I appreciate you're well spoken instructions, we need this kind of teaching with this radio. It sometimes is quicker to learn buy watching than reading from a book. Thank you.
As a newbie, this video moved really fast. I will try to go thru step by step but this is my first mobile and I am a bit lost. ..but thanks for the video..I will save it...and subscribe.
I just ordered an FTM-500 from Gigaparts. The only thing that would make this radio better is if it was all mode, ie.. SSB and CW. Thanks for the video.
Apx 315MHz is a Military Aircraft Band (Also AM, not FM) if you have any military bases around, set the parameters for 10-15MHz range and see what you come up with.
Hello Friend I live in Brazil, traveled to JAPAN, bought a Yaesu FTM 500D (Japanese version). I need to transmit in Brazil on 146.950 and the radio says TELA is prohibited. TX PROHIBITED. Can you help me make a change of region or opening in TX? What is the best solution for my case? Thank you if you could help. Moacyr PY3FK
Domestic radios in Japan are not modifiable , look at the case of the radio, if there’s a letter J, inside of a triangle, that radio is a domestic model, you’re screwed.
You can no longer buy export model radios (of any type) in Japan. The radio you have will not transmit above 146MHz because the Japanese 144MHz band is from 144-146MHz and is a SIMPLEX only band, no repeaters. Sorry to have to tell you this. It is not modifiable because domestic nerds would “Jail Brake “ it and be transmitting all over the spectrum, not just the ham bands.
I could not scan the Aircraft band as these channels were not set for "SCAN" in the configuration. Otherwise, things would scan normally.
