    Awesome video packed with useful info for a newcomer like me 🤗. East village seems to be the place I'm searching for with ease of access to public transport, being in the city but seeing all that greenery and lots of places to chill with family especially my li'll one makes my heart sing. One question though, could you expound on the stigmatized safety concerns. Thank you 🤗 and keep these fantastic videos coming.

      Hi, thanks got watching, I'm glad you found the video helpful! 😊
      The stigma comes from years ago before the city invested nearly $400 million into the area. As well as $3 billion of privately invested funds.
      There is also the Calgary drop in & rehab center in the area where they provide health services and support to adults experiencing homelessness that some people would say ads to the stigma.

      @@dennismckeown5863 Hey Dennis, thank you for commenting. I think the question we need to ask is why is there so much demand in the market here right now. Overpriced implies it is too expensive and therefore people do not want to purchase. With the record sales happening here that is certainly not the case. Here is a video I made the other week explaining what is happening in the market right now and where it is likely to go from here. th-cam.com/video/z_REGI28y9g/w-d-xo.html

      Altadore was ranked highly due to its schools, location, parks, pathways, local dining & shopping, and variety of property types and price ranges.
      What makes a neighbourhood great for one person doesn't necessarily make it great for another. We did our best to take all factors into consideration while compiling our list.

    This could also be a good list for areas where you are most likely to be harassed by homeless people (East Village, Sunnyside, Mission, Inglewood), or a list for areas were you are most likely to be sexually assualted... And some of the parks named (Stanely Park, Lindsay Park) are so sketchy, wow, I would not let my teen daughter go there. Definitely Altadore feels safer though.

  • @bowriver1
    @bowriver1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I would drop Altadore and add Bridgeland. If you are going as far out as Altadore there are other communities more deserving. Mayland Heights would be more affordable, has much better transit access, is safe and has more schools close by. Hillhurst, Parkdale and even Crescent Heights could make the same claims over Altadore. All of these communities are also far closer to downtown and good transit.

    • @LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor
      @LivinginCalgaryAnthonyTaylor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Phil, thank you for taking the time to comment. I am a huge fan of Bridgeland, it is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Calgary. It was actually just outside of the top 5 list and this was largely due to it having higher crime rates than any of the other 5 neighborhoods.
      You are correct about Mayland Heights being an excellent affordable option near downtown. The reason it wasn't considered is it lacks some of the amenities the other inner-city neighborhoods have to offer.
      Altadore is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Calgary with so much to offer for families with children looking to stay central. It would be very difficult for me not to have it in the top 5 with it being such a short commute to downtown.
      I appreciate your opinion and it goes to show you that everyone has different wants and needs when it comes to what they look for in a neighborhood. Making this list I did my best to balance all the wants and needs people consider.

      Anyone who doesnt like cold weather, Calgary is not the place for you. Having the highest quality of life in N. America, high paying jobs, the best infrastructure, and recreation in the country, the merits for those wanting all of that, Calgary is for you.
      Embracing the cold weather, means bundling up on those cold days, getting out and enjoying some of the best scenery in the country. There is a reason, Calgary is a Winter Olympic Host city.
      The city is a huge destination for those that enjoy, hiking, skiing, scenery that is often times called the most beautiful place on the planet.
      Negative folks need not come. This city is friendly, and what one makes of it.
