    There was more than 1 or 2 times when Liam miller made the wrong decision in the Copa America. Shaffleburg played amazing until the last 2 games where I thought he was average and looked a bit like all the added attention he was getting got to him. But overal canada played well. Hope they can improve on finshing and learn to calm the game down a bit and avoid rushing the play.

    Fun discussion. Looking at the CanMNT there is a lot of value for the dollar spent.
    25m for David is crazy, the only one who outscores him in France is Mbappe.
    I think Madrid is in for Davies but get the feeling they are going the Mbappe route and are just going to be patient this season and get him on a free.
    Bombito, Cornelius, Millar are solid players that teams would be getting at a good value.

    Anyone can do what Larin does at striker, Tani, Bair and JRR can all run and press. Larin's finishing is a joke and he shouldn't be starting anymore. We are better without him in a 4-2-3-1

  • @jrcanuck1
    @jrcanuck1 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Wait!!! Josh gave Larin a thumbs down!!! What a shocker!!!
    Yeah, Josh didn't want Larin in there, even before this tournament began & he continued lobbying to have him removed throughout the Copa; but somehow Jesse Marsch kept complementing his defensive & overall game, as he did Jonathan David & continued to play Larin a lot.
    If it wasn't for the role that Larin & David played, running miles for defensive & Pressing purposes, Canada would have had a lot more defensive holes in general & they most likely would not have gone as far in the Copas as they did.
    I am quite sure that Marsch would have graded both Larin & David with thumbs up, knowing full well that the goals will eventually come. I choose to believe Jesse Marsch's assessment of players.

      @@JoelER78 , thank you! Afterall, Larin is not over the hill. He only turned 29 in April & he is still our all time best goal scorer.
      They are all still adjusting to Jesse's new system too.
      Scoring was low with a lot of teams in Copa.
      We all know that the pitches weren't great & the ball was bouncing a lot.
      Also the players in Jesse's system have to run long & hard. These guys were playing in extreme heat through most of this tournament. Canada played in a heat index of 101F in Kansas City. You can't expect players to be at 100 % in those kinds of conditions.

    Canada was very lucky not to have paid a big price early with Luc. He was very shaky. I will certainly give him a pass considering he's only 18 however. And, he did settle into the match eventually. I was relieved when he got subbed out early in the 2nd half...

    • @mccullochmike
      @mccullochmike หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have 2 lenses when looking at Luc.
      1. Canada is playing for 3rd at Copa America. This isn't the game to put him in as you don't want him to make a mistake.
      2. Canada is playing for 3rd at Copa America. This is exactly the type of game where he should be playing. Luc will not gain the experience he needs by playing Trinidad and Tobago and making mistakes will ultimately make him better both individually and for Canada.. What better place to start him than against Uruguay. Canada's 6th game of the tournament where they've already been eliminated from placing first, but yet there is still something on the line. Canada needs to get younger players in the pipe line. They need to have a player like Luc moving forward with the confidence that he's already played against a top country like Uruguay. I was all for the move. He's ready. He needs to be challenged. If Lamine Yamal can play at 16, Luc can certainly play at 18. If you're afraid that your kid will hurt himself walking and you hold him back, he'll never learn to run.

    • @djknox2
      @djknox2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mccullochmike That 3rd place result was enormous for Canada. Thus it was too risky to start Luc and we got lucky. Fortunately Marsch got away with it. • @mccullochmike
      @mccullochmike หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@djknox2 Canada finished 4th. We didn’t get lucky. We lost in a shootout. And guess what? Canada is still getting the accolades they deserve ven though they lost. Luc is 18, he’s not 12 and he’s not 24. He is the future of the program and with his quality and potential no other candidate fit better. Claiming the experience for “ANYONE” is not comprehending the point or his talent. Everyone has their opinion. Many folks, like you, would claim it was too risky to have Yama play because he’s too young and lacks experience. This was a fantastic time to put him into a significant match. It will pay off later. My guess is you wouldn’t play Luc against Mexico or the US later in the summer as the matches will be too important then too. It was a great move by Marsch.

    • @djknox2
      @djknox2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mccullochmike When I say Canada got lucky, what I meant is that Luc was a bit of traffic wreck for the first quarter of the match, and had that lead to Uruguay going up a couple of goals and maybe even an extra man, the outcome of the match would have been ugly rather than positive. There is a LOT of light between Canada losing a 2-1 lead in the last minutes of ET and Canada collapsing and losing 3 or 4 nil. The latter was on the table with Luc starting. So we got lucky that didn't happen. It was stupid to start him and Marsch got away with it. And comparing Luc to Yama is just silly. I NEVER SAID that no 16, 17 or 18 year old should ever start a big match. Does anyone here remember a young kid named Pele? I simply said Luc de F should not have started that particular match. You're comparing apples to oranges and that kind of thinking is reckless. Having said all that, I only wish the best for Luc - it wasn't his decision to start that match.

      @@vincerogers1618 Do you mean goal scoring wise or chances wise?
      If you did any research, we have a few players that could come in and play striker...but David is the highest quality, and Larin is very experienced and could break out and score goals for us.
      I think they should've tried Theo Bair instead of Tani (plays in League 1 in France now, last year in Scotland).
      However, Tani does just need some time...he should be able to improve with a few more games. Jim Brennan and Craig Forrest mentioned that he had great technique and ability to read the defense. He was able to make great runs behind the defense.
      Jebbison may be an addition to the team in the future, but he didn't do anything last year (injuries).

    • @djknox2
      @djknox2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JoelER78 I agree that Tani was very impactful in making diagonal runs and finding opportunities. Had he put just one of several golden opportunities in the back of the net, we would all be talking about him as Canada's next striker. We will have to wait to see which is true: either 1) he's terrible but got lucky with the opportunities that came his way, or 2) he's got instincts and just needs to polish his finishing. We've got 20 months to find out...
