They (Jam and Lewis) loved the Oberheim 0b-8 as well as the DX7 and the 808 drum machine in combination with the linn drum(like their copycat Nick Martinelli with Loose Ends and 52nd Street). The Loose Ends sound wouldn’t exist without “No Ones gonna Love You” by SOS Band. Not trying to be negative but it’s important to credit the guys who came up with the sound originally. I love both of their productions (Jam & Lewis and Nick Martinelli) It’s all good!!!
Yes, you are right. Jam & Lewis loved the Oberheim, especially. They definitely carved out their own sound and permanent place in R & B... very deserving of their success.
There was an LP compilation (The Chart ‘86) I had with this and Saturday Love by Cherrelle/Alexander O’Neal and I’ll Keep On Loving You by Princess. All have the same mid 80s R&B vibe. Would love if you recreated those other 2 songs I mentioned. Edit: Great, you did Saturday Love!
Thank you! That's a good idea. I'm not a good piano or theory teacher, but if I did a tutorial this would be one of the first as it's a great song! It has multiple keyboard parts that I tried to whittle down to two. I would encourage anyone learning to use a sequencer, recording device, or another keyboard player to reproduce the S.O.S. Band arrangement or mine. By the way, the "After all that we've been through" chord may be hard to see, but I'm playing F, F#, A#, C# with my left hand.
fantastic Cover 🙏👍 great, great "The Finest" 🎶🎵
Incredible playing!
This sounds so very relaxing. I wish you did the whole song
GREAT! I'd love you to cover other sos band songs like even when you sleep 🙂
EXCELLENT!
