Such a sad end for a relic of the past! I salute you computer, may you find yourself in an electrical heaven with all the bandwidth and high internet speeds you could ever dream of! o/
If you look at 6:56 very closely, there was a blue screen of death with stop code "Unknown Hard Error" (pretty sure of that after looking at it multiple times) which I found interesting that it just displayed it for a split second. It was very quick you need to put it at 0.25 speed.
The computer behavior is also consistent with sudden hard drive death. It's able to perform actions up until he tries to open the folder. Its likely the operations up till that point were cached in RAM, but clicking on the folder caused an interrupt in the CPU to call the disk for the necessary information. Everything starts going downhill right there.

+Zuazzer'n'Stuff This magnet is powerful enough to shatter the bones in my fingers if caught between the magnet and a thick piece of iron or another large magnet. I can't really say why the BIOS got reset by the magnet (I'm assuming since it said "time and date not set") but the reason the hard drive wouldn't boot after that is because I'm guessing that computer never had its hard drive changed and therefore is still a platen disk drive which stores its data magnetically. Magnetic positives are 1s and magnetic negatives are 0s. The main reason you were told to keep magnets away from your computer is because a strong enough magnet runs the very high risk of not only doing a very harsh formatting of the hard drive by changing every bit to a 1 or a 0, but also runs the risk of demagnetizing the drive entirely turning it into a paperweight. A lot of newer computers come with SSDs so the risk is greatly reduced but as I've learned here, the BIOS may still get hosed if you put a neodymium magnet next to it.
If you can't afford to buy the magnet used in this video, I have found that a cheap alternative is a large rock from outside. Just take the rock and throw it really hard against the computer, it should give the same result.

Now imagine what a E-Bomb can do!
Yep, it's definitely not recommended to put a large magnet on a CRT monitor. With smaller magnets you should be able to degauss the monitor - but not with a ruined mesh :)
Pikachuk That is because hard drives write data magnetically to platters in blocks. The arm has very tiny heads and the neyodium magnets in hard drives are used to stableize the arms as they write to the disk spinning 7200 rpm (oreven faster in some server disks). They move very fast. This magnet probably corrupted the blocks on the hard drives platters and possibly damaged the arm. I have pulled apart tons of bad hard drives to salvage the magnets to use on fridges and such. The same principle applies to floppy disks which is why you never kept them around magnets.
hey guys what's up techraxsere so today l have a niodiminomium magnet and we're going to see what happens when l get it really close to the screen. wow it looks... so beautiful and amazing. it looks very alluring and feels very sleek to the touch.
today i met with the top magnet producing companies in the world to find the strongest magnets for my test. Will the magnets break the computer or will it create a 3 1080 sli build from thin air? keep watching to find out. *linus intro plays* trivago searches over 300 websites to find you the best hotel for the best price ok so today i have a niodiminomium magnet and now lets see what this will do... "instructions unclear; beat dick with magnets". oh woow look at what its doing to the monitor it looks like my wife's ultrasound thats amazing *guy in the back smiling awkwardly from embarrassment* now lets do a benchmark - battlefield 1942 at 480p30fps so its not 3 1080s.... unless the cpu is a bottleneck which means this computer doesnt know how to build itself USE THE INTERNET YOU DUMB BRICK!!
the hard disk is formatted, that is to say a hard reset is made the hard disk has been totally eliminated nor the bios will have been left since a magnet is layers of hard reset
+EpicGaM3R13 He did a video on it. It's in this around 18"x18"x24" box with the magnet in the center held in place by a bunch of styrofoam, with a steel plate on each pole side of the magnet to help redirect the magnetic field a bit. Stuff still gets a magnetic attraction, but it's easily manageable.
Ah I love how I can understand why the tv is going like that! The magnetic field repulses the electrons away from the screen so the image is altered! The tv is powered by an electron gun that accelerates electrons to the screen but the magnetic field just deflects the path of the electrons!
Thanks for posting the video. I once had my CRT screen deflected just like you show with the 6" neodymium (@ 2' 45"). It was just as a truck or lorry passed the house. I always wondered if the truck engine (or perhaps cargo - a generator?) could have caused this effect. It only ever happened once and was strange.

Now imagine what a E-Bomb can do!
at 3:23 - dangourus stuff! He produced a black hole!!!!
Nice try
6:25 me when my computer freezes
Once you distort the mesh in a CRT monitor with a magnet, it might get stuck that way. Not recommended :o)
Yep, it's definitely not recommended to put a large magnet on a CRT monitor. With smaller magnets you should be able to degauss the monitor - but not with a ruined mesh :)
It is highly recommended.
The magnet erased most of the operating system files.
It's like "Delete 'system32' to make your PC faster" on steroids.
hard drives are really sensible to magnets, it would have been interesting if he was able to disassemble the pc to see the parts that died
The same principle applies to floppy disks which is why you never kept them around magnets.
old school tech rax
He waste old things olny
BusyBeeTV lol I love techrax
hey guys what's up techraxsere so today l have a niodiminomium magnet and we're going to see what happens when l get it really close to the screen. wow it looks... so beautiful and amazing. it looks very alluring and feels very sleek to the touch.
Oh yeah. Techrax is amazing! Killing cockroaches and hearing them scream in pain and agony just for fun is great!
today i met with the top magnet producing companies in the world to find the strongest magnets for my test. Will the magnets break the computer or will it create a 3 1080 sli build from thin air? keep watching to find out.
*linus intro plays*
trivago searches over 300 websites to find you the best hotel for the best price
ok so today i have a niodiminomium magnet and now lets see what this will do... "instructions unclear; beat dick with magnets". oh woow look at what its doing to the monitor it looks like my wife's ultrasound thats amazing *guy in the back smiling awkwardly from embarrassment* now lets do a benchmark
- battlefield 1942 at 480p30fps
so its not 3 1080s.... unless the cpu is a bottleneck which means this computer doesnt know how to build itself USE THE INTERNET YOU DUMB BRICK!!
Guys remember, if the magnet doesn't break it at first, just drop it on top of the device.

I try to reach to it, and when im just about to grab it, i accidentaly push it
+aca maca fatty
What?
luis pereira thx
+aca maca - No problem.
“Gives a quite beautiful show”
Chunks larger magnet through screen*
the hard disk is formatted, that is to say a hard reset is made the hard disk has been totally eliminated nor the bios will have been left since a magnet is layers of hard reset
I like that you adjusted the screen back at 8:30.
Why r u using ancient electronics?
do you have money to destroy a new computer or graphing calculator?
to not waste money
He doesnt want to waste money and perfectly usable modern technology, stupid
he said in the video newer tvs are different and dont use the same electro magnet inside. He showed what it looked like in the video
Wow. Your name sucks. How old are you using a Minecraft profile?
I remember watching this video when i was like 12, I'm 19 now and i didn't know this video was from you, a channel i watch all the time now!
How do you even get one shipped to you with out it getting stuck on something!?
I don't know what it's called, but I believe there is a material that acts like a suspressor or force field to magnets
+EpicGaM3R13 Was thinking the same thing. Imagining the UPS/FedEx guys trying to pry the box off the inside wall of their metal trucks. lol
+EpicGaM3R13 I got a slightly smaller one in just a styrofoam, some steel plates and bubble wrap. Basically couldn't feel much of the magnetic field.
Imagine walking around with that magnet and it just gets stuck on a steet lamp and there goes your fingers.
0:30 - “a smartphone without the phone”
Wisely spoken 😂
I was expecting to listen to some Monster Magnet tunes but I got this. Oh well.
Same!
+Ashaz Rahman spacelord
I got a Monster Magnet right here ;)
Jimmious me too
The video that introduced me to your channel 4 years ago
Found this channel just now and now I'm obsessed
Ah I love how I can understand why the tv is going like that! The magnetic field repulses the electrons away from the screen so the image is altered! The tv is powered by an electron gun that accelerates electrons to the screen but the magnetic field just deflects the path of the electrons!
I expected a different video about Monster Magnet, but this is quite nice too.
Nice one
me too
Magnet: Comes closer to TV
Dots on the TV: Ight imma head out
Its cool how you can see the magnetic field on the tv! 3:12
7:56 wtf is that sound lol
Silver Slinko that magnet is extremely strong
Ikr
Really? I thought he said "Urrrr-urr krff gammit"?
;)
Lady Alfhildr of the Forest of Violet Mists loll
lmao stop hahaha
6:24 Me when there's a skippable ad.
The TV is trying to summon a black hole 😂
