it's heartbreaking to see jaedong getting knocked out like this but with all the love I have for him, tbh he kinda deserves it. When he went in with the muta he saw few turrets, few marines, starport but NO factory. A player of his caliber should have known at that point that this could only be a vulture run by from a proxy fac. He had no reaction instead. he didn't even morph the sunk.
Yeah, it was a blunder. I guess he initially assumed the factory was floating near the natural to help the turrets spot Mutalisks over the high ground, and by the time he thought of the proxy cheese, it was too late. But you're right, he should have suspected it, especially in the context of a bo1 against a (on paper) weaker player. You often see cheesy tricks in those bo1. He didn't scout enough; it was reckless. But the good thing is, it also was the last mistake you'll ever see Jaedong making in ASL. Be prepared for the Tyrant's return: Jaedong is winning ASL 18. Mark my word. Jaedong ASL 18, with a 4-0 ZvT victory in the finals.
I do get the vibe from previous ASLs that JD is mostly getting by with his strong control, but he doesn't have the instinctual knowledge of enough builds his opponents might throw at him to react to a base layout in time to counter.

Spoilers for Winners match Isn't the general strategy for Protoss when there's a Marine/Bunker rush, to just let Terran destroy the natural in order to save the Probes? Eventually Reavers will just kill everything down there.

He smashed Light, JYJ and Rush in a row in Proleague last week. He dominated shuttle 7-2 in ultimate battle 2 weeks ago. But when it comes to ASL he plays like total shit. This has broken my heart so many times. Why JD?! Why???
I was thinking the same thing. From studying many games, JD cuts corners in an era where that tends to get punished by top players. In that first JD game, he didn’t want to spend the 50 minerals to make the sunk. That sunk would have allowed him to have somewhere to escape to with the drones in the main. He’d still lose a lot, but maybe 6-7 instead of almost all. He scouted the main, saw star port and no factory, and still** didn’t spend the 50 minerals to make a sunk. If you review his ASL games, he tries to get an advantage by cutting corners instead of great micro or strategy (the harder ways). That style works great on all but the top players, which is ASL. Hope that helps.
yea man I was thinking the same thing. Just make the damn sunk! Why be greedy? Sheesh. Especially since TY did that same build to Shine on ladder, and that game was even cast on a major channel. JD doesnt do his homework very well. Kills me@@SH57578
No I remember that! I remember every JD performance. He got round of 4 in ASL 2 and Second place in KSL 1. He also got 1st place in wins in KCM in 2018 (11). But the last 2 ASL's have been shameful@@zdenekstyblik437
