Seavey Pass is named for Clyde Leroy Seavey (1847-1943) a California politician and administrator on various state boards. - The Sierra Nevada ends pretty much where the Cascades start. The north end is generally said to be Fredonyer Pass, southwest of Susanville. For the PCT, that's when you cross State Route 36 near Chester (Mile 1331.3), just past the midway point on the trail.
Good morning, Juliane. Shame on you for unaliving those poor mosquitos. I would have too. Great day today. I have never seen so many creek and river crossings. The lake you showed us, when you asked if we were ready for it, was absolutely gorgeous. How neat it must be to see all these beautiful spots up close and personal. Thank you for sharing them with us. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Roadrunner....I can really see the enjoyment in your smile, eyes, and infectious humor that you share with us an your Tramily. I definitely see you as the GLUE. Luv how you had the camera on you and your hiking and River Crossin's. We are on the journey with you till the end.
Y'all are doing SO WELL!!! Please address not using head nets to keep the mosquitoes away, it would make so much sense to use them!! Gorgeous waterfalls! Thank you for posting!!!
I wondered what the birds were but never mind, those were mosquitoes. At 14:50 right there is Wooley Mule's Ear (Wyethia mollis) They are very common plants in the entire west on all the high elevation trails. You can see 8 other species from NMexico to Washington. The seeds are edible like long skinny sunflower seeds. They live so long you can see the exact same clumps 20 years later if you go back to the same spot.
This is the first time I've heard another Wayfinder! It's been my trail name for a few years. Hi Wayfinder/Birdcall! I hiked with a Bad Ass most of trail last year.
They have been really lucky so far. But it is not impossible. As you can see in the vids of Austin Seder or Jack Keogh, it's not uncommon to get the first rain in Washington. But the opposite (like lightning and thunderstorms in the Sierra, combined with a lot of snow) is also possible (Elina Osborne, 2019).
You gatta do what you gotta do with those pesky bugs! Love your hike Julianne, ove your tramily, watching BB, BC and Boujee too. I will never be able to do the PCT so I appreciate y'all taking us along to enjoy the hike and the views. :o)
Off note how do you like the Platypus water filter in comparison to the Sawyer? Thanks in advance, love to hear your thoughts on what works and what doesn’t 😉🤙🏽 Keep crushing it
So, you wish the whip-or-wouldn't? Have fun. Don't let your inner german over analyze things and decrease your enjoyment. I let go of my inner german in my 30s and life was easier. You could carry a Zippo(or similar) pocket warmer to dry your shoes and socks at night. It burns lighter fluid. This also gives you heat for your sleeping bag if its a very cold night. Happy trails. Good Luck, Rick
Cheeseburger in Paradise: the only true cheeseburger song. RIP Jimmy Buffett. Sleep on your socks; they’ll be warm when you wake. Stick an Air Tag on Somewhere, just for the irony.
Another brilliant day on the trail. I noticed you were videoed by one of your group more in this video than many others. Do you airdrop (or share someway) your videos to each other?
Based on where I think you are, those should be Mountain Chickadees. But I agree that whistle sounds like the Black-capped I know so well in Connecticut. I can understand why you’d find Whip-Poor-Wills annoying, but it’s music to my ears as they are pretty scarce and seldom heard where I live. I’m sure you have two pairs of socks - can you put the wet one on back of your pack to dry out during the day?
Having watched thru hikers attempt the PCT, I've always wondered how you can afford the time and cost of the hike...how do you get time off work or school, how much do your expenses total? So many you tubers now vlogging too
I'm not completely understanding how you follow the trail out there. Sure, there's plenty of places where it's obvious, but it seems there's places where it's not, and I don't see any paint on trees or signs or anything. Is it the far out app that keeps you on trail? Anyway, still enjoying your journey and still hating the skeeters!
PCT indicators are at trail junctions and trailheads with North and South indicators, and then a confirmation indicator is around 100 feet further down the correct trail. There are usually no mile markers or paint blades, but sometime you can see the old tree blazes that were from the original trails that the PCT uses. As for completely covered trail, snow or water, or when FarOut gives up, you can always fire up the GPS unit or phone maps for trail confirmation, today's technology has really made wayfinding easy.
As someone who lives in NC the whippoorwill is highly annoying 😑 when your trying to camp and he yelling as loud as he can 20 feet from where your camping at 1am and he sounds like a dang car alarm going off 😅.... bossbay is a beast of a woman she was a bodybuilder she has videos on her channel. She also knows how to box as well. Thats why her balance is so good.
Well here in North Florida the Whippoorwill comes out the same time every night sing their songs(which I love), then fly over to some other part of the woods. Some years ago, having just moved to NC( spent 8 years then moved back to NF)I was hiking the Babel Trail(not a good first hike for me but fun just the same)I heard; and I swear sounded like cicadas. What ever they were, they had to be the loudest pia’s in the world. It sounds like I’m dissing NC vs Fla, but I’m not meaning it that way. Loved my hiking/canoeing/camping days at the Gorge, Fontana…etc.
A German with an affectation of southern English will never get old
The Sierras are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing your journey! Love your tramily but miss Boujee.
When "Sam I Am" Sam Ducharme did his AT hike, he opined " I never want to hear another Whip-poor-Will call again. You're not alone. Great hike.
When you stayed at Creek House we gave you the tramily name Magnificent 5. You proved to be so! ❤❤
I don't comment much, but watch all the videos. You all amaze me. I hike through your hikes. The best I'll get to do. :)
The yellow flowers are called "Mules' Ears." I looked it up. Very pretty. Beautiful scenery. Lovely video. Thanks!

You mean killing? Dead?
That putting on wet socks and shoes in the morning is not for the faint of heart
Such beautiful views. Your happiness is shining through these days :) Hike~~On~~>
Black capped chickadee are my favorite birds! ❤❤

Great video again today. Birdcall is right; I like his B roll footage!
It's incredible how beautiful it is there.
the cheeseburger bird is the Mountain Chickadee, not the Black Capped Chickadee
Way to go RR, another great video today!

how is it possible it is literally always sunny and perfect weather every video you upload?? :) is the weather literally almost always perfect?

Take those skeeters out RR!!

That is such a beautiful lake! Ahh mosquitos.!!! I don't like mosquitos. I am surprised there were mosquitos with the colder weather.
Off note how do you like the Platypus water filter in comparison to the Sawyer? Thanks in advance, love to hear your thoughts on what works and what doesn’t 😉🤙🏽 Keep crushing it
What a beautiful day. Happy trails.
I’m glad they are unalive….lol… that mirrored lake was my fav view thus far. Beautiful trail! Be safe!

Check out Packtoter and how he puts on his backpack. I want to see you try that one. Keep crushing it!

A minor nit to pick... The Sierra Nevada doesn't end until around Chester, north of Lake Tahoe 🙂

Unalive. New term. :) great content as always

The mosquitoes are all UNALIVE NOW. 😂😂😂
Cheeseburger bird is called Black Capped chickadee.
P S.: Not bad for the first time, but putting on your backpack 'BB-style' still have some room for improvement 😉

Yes, most hikers today navigate with Far Out

Mountain chickadee. I know that sound.

At least try Permethrin on your tent. Any mozzies foolish enough to land on it won’t be alive long. Only going to get worse in NorCal and Oregon.
Thank you for not playing Non Copyrighted music any more, now your videos are beautiful!
I don't k now how anyone can survive these Thru hikes without Darn Tough Socks!
Unfortunately, their quality is no longer as good as it used to be...
water on the trail looks like the Florida trail
But whats your tramily name?
I've asked myself the same thing 😊
Maybe 'The unstoppable badasses' or something like this.
Somewhere’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
🤣🤣🤣
Dancer, writer, and a painter
The “artistic Bunch”
The ''rivercrossin'' foursome. Even though they cross streams and creeks.😅
sunglasses, LOL
"unlife" Lol *adds to notes*
11:42 😅 I like that look on you.
Unalive is just a cute term
Boss Bae puts her pack on a bit more gracefully?🎉
Un-alived 😂
