another tip for the shoulder missiles/laser beam! it tells you if it loads sapphire or emerald data, sapphire always means the stack, emerald always the spread!
tried to prog this twice already, flood ray is definitely the main killer. quick tip: you cant wait for the swap, after you or your number partner got blasted you have to Move asap. dallying will get you murdered. EDIT: also!!! for caster mains like me, diamond rain can be addled. help your healers out!

I've been playing FFXIV for a few years now, but never dared to try a current Extreme. But today, after watching the guide and reading some text strategies, I decided to grit my teeth and give it a try. And it took nearly four hours, but I've cleared it, in part thanks to the clear and concise instructions in this guide. Thanks so much! It's a good feeling to actually manage it, even if I still fumble Auri Arts quite a lot.

Yea, but it's good practice to keep to the sides anyways, so you dont accidentally mix up the orb mechanic and take either unnecessary vulns or get yeeted off the platform
Something real important about flood ray that I've seen a couple of non melees mess up: you want to be inside the inner corner when you're taking your ray, basically in line with your number. If you're in the middle of the column or farther, you're going to cleave the center of platform and kill everyone waiting there.
Not sure if this is the last endgame raid content we are getting this expansion but if it is I really need to thank you for providing all those guides, I was able to clear every extreme/savage this expansion thanks to u, since I’m a solo/pf player I only join pf parties after I’ve watched them

@@matthewhackney4279 it was a bitch to make it there, but I finally arrived at the store. Not just any store, but a bloody space store. Nowhere else do they sell telescopes with such incredible quality, and it was 3 states away from my hometown. Bought the top quality telescope, a huge investment. All this money spent, distance traveled and even used a fucking telescope and still can't find the one who asked.
Learning this fight on day one and two of this patch was a heart pumping extravaganza with a bunch of different PF groups. I managed to get 10 clears so I could use the totems for my white and red mage weapons. Hopefully I can either level up more jobs or just help more people through :)
While it's probably common knowledge by now in EX fight, the tankbuster is AOE so ST don't stack on top of MT when you do the provoke shirk shenanigan.
Certain attacks, like Diamond Rain, Limit Cut, and meteors only count the number of players currently alive, but that's only before they start casting. (I.E. If 7 people are currently alive before meteors spawn, only 7 meteors will spawn.)
I was trying to clear this multiple times. People never explained properly on how to do the floodray. Only now that ive come back to it I understand. Position 1,2,3,4 is proc’d. They then switch with the next number on their platform that will go off. It was not just me getting it wrong this whole time, people never explained to me properly!!!
I have never done an extreme raid before except when solo unsynced in Realm Reborn raids and Heavensward raids. I kind of want to try my hand at an extreme raid the way it is meant to be played. I'm just afraid of being with a group of people that will get pissed off at me for missing mechanics when I'm just trying to learn. That's what is stopping me from doing any extreme or savage raids.
You can look for progression groups in party finder according to the fight phase you don't feel comfortable to play. They are really noob friendly and an ideal place to learn the fight from scratch
My tip is create a PF yourself, put fresh prog for new people and no salt You'll only get toxic people(the majority of time) if you go into duty completion/farm partys and keep wiping then, otherwise just go to the progs and you'll be fine

You can put down waymarks on the far platform after you've cleared the boss, and then save them in the menus at the bottom of the waymark selection interface. Then, next time you go into the fight, you can load that set, and the waymarks will appear where you saved them, even on the half of the arena that's not there yet. You can also save them if someone else puts them down, so you can essentially copy them off of someone who's already cleared -- or someone who copied of someone who already cleared, or someone who copied off of someone who copied off someone who's already cleared, or...
Is there a reason we must face the Diamond Shrapnel (The following beam attack) towards the other platform and not outwards? If we faced them outwards won't that give us plenty of time to position and soak the towers?
They really need to update rewards from expansion trials or something cause i played through the base game without having to wait and same for havensward but when i got into stormblood and shadowbringers everything has such a long wait time i can't even que for the shadowbringers trials on ex to get the experience it's all party finders demanding you already know what to do
After number 1-8 mechanic, is it really necessary to come back to assigned platform? Since it is already 4-4, isn’t it better if we stay just like that?
Hey! Just started trying this out and I was wondering: How did you get the waymarks on the opposite platform? I can't seem to do it before the platform is there and you can't do it in combat.:o
one way to do it is to go into cloud deck normal, clear it, and place the waymarks BEFORE you exit. then you can save the arrangement into your waymark slots (for those who don't know, that's the drop down arrow menu at the bottom of your waymarks window).
Cleared day before yesterday. Earliest I've ever cleared an Ex. And was super happy. :D It also dropped my Job weapon (WHM), and as a person who is forever terrified of trying Savage, it was a nice upgrade vs my current Relic step. But I love watching your guides anyway to understand all the mechanics. This is (at appropriate ilevels) probably the easiest Ex this expansion other than maybe Innocence. Fun fight and well worth the runs. Numbers part is the part most likely to trip people up. Every boss has a whombo combo (like Titania with the giant trees) that, once you can get through, the clear isn't so bad. For Diamond, it's the Numbers and (sorta) the Meteors. If you can master those, you've got it made. Just keep an eye on those hands in the latter phase!

Titania still requires a lot of people in the group to do their thing correctly otherwise it can wipe the party, particularly the puddle events and also the giant tree part, both of which can KO most or all of the group. Innocence doesn't actually seem to have a whombo combo at all, the worst is the swords with the death pizza part, but that's not all that difficult. And the only way single players can wipe the party is if they kited their sword lines right through the middle of the boss and the group. I guess there is the thing with the big laser blowing up the wrong star, but that's stupidly easy to aim as long as people aren't being total morons, and IN THEORY a healer with Rescue could jank them into position if needed. Then again, I haven't done either of those since 4.1, so gear may make it where you can eat vine teathers and stuff on Titania with no problems now? Don't get me wrong, I liked Titania better, and it was my first clear and dragon back in 4.0, but that's because it's the same every time other than the Rune while Innocence is a little more variable since it randomly targets people with swords. But other than the star explosions, no part of Innocence will wipe the entire group if one person mucks up while several of the other fights CAN. But I do agree that DiamEx is definitely closer to Tit/Inn levels of difficulty. I'd say it's easier than Titania but harder than Innocence, though not by much. Half the problem is the numbers bit, and half of THAT is just being able to see them. I wish they were numerals instead of dots, and I hate that you don't have a debuff you can look at to see it like Save the Queen in Delubrium. You only have that amount of time to see and count the number and its color, then it's gone, and if you have a marker over your head (as a healer, who was also calling mechs, they liked putting my group number over my head so my sub-party knew who to folloiw), it made it hard to see sometimes. But it's not a hard mechanic to execute once you understand it.
The only way our group managed to do it was after we cleared it for the first time, as the platform sticks around at the end. Unfortunately there's no other way to get them there as far as I know.

I have a noob question I'm wondering if someone can answer for me: how do you set up markers on the B side in this fight? To my knowledge you can't set them during battle and when I try to set up the B side ahead of time it says "invalid target" or something because I'm trying to set them in a place that doesn't have a platform yet to place them on.
You didn't mention the final mechanic. The meteor circles. Usual practice seems to be - you go to the position assigned to you by the macro you happen to be using. E.g: Left Platform Group's tank takes the top most meteor on the left platform, The Right Platform' Group's healer takes bottom most on the right platform.
@@OMGITSMEDUSTIN I call that BS. The thing is that Diamond suffers from the "follow me strat" which is super effective at phase 2. Don't know the mechanics? Follow someone and just learn a bit about the vertical knockback. Phase 3 first mechanic is easy I gotta admit and the rest is just phase 1 with hands + meteors. Titania was super easy.
God this fight is so disappointing. Like imagine following up on these huge dramatic cutscene-having phase transitions, where you get blindsided by rematches with fucking Nael and Gaius, with inexplicably turning into fucking Ifrit, *and then going back to normal when you're done*. Fucking IFRIT, who, let's be clear, I'm pretty sure fuels Ul'dah's economy because he's such a weak primal they probably farm his parts like he's cattle.

5:00 - Note that If there's only 1 orb, the middle lane is actually safe. You don't need to stay on the edge.

I liked the fight; simple mechs but a lot of quick thinking to locate safe spots, especially the second phase which is fast paced.

This is beyond Titania which is actually the easiest. I think the hardest was either emerald or hades

You have to clear it and do it then. You can do normal and put ur markers then

It’s legit the easiest primal they’ve added IMO. I got 40+ clears so far and the fights a breeze. Kind of disappointing it’s the last primal.

God this fight is so disappointing. Like imagine following up on these huge dramatic cutscene-having phase transitions, where you get blindsided by rematches with fucking Nael and Gaius, with inexplicably turning into fucking Ifrit, *and then going back to normal when you're done*. Fucking IFRIT, who, let's be clear, I'm pretty sure fuels Ul'dah's economy because he's such a weak primal they probably farm his parts like he's cattle.
