Not to diss Feraligatr lovers, but I really think Empoleon will be the water starter in this. Would love to see Feraligatr myself but Empoleon is too perfect

Yeah it’ll likely be empoleon, but it’s a fun experiment to redesign a regional variant regardless :P

I mean... the leak is a fake anyways, since Gamefreak always makes at least one of the typings Super Effective against the other, even in an imperfect triangle
Look at the Sinnoh Starters
Torterra - Grass/Ground
Infernape - Fire/Fighting
Empoleon - Water/Steel
Infernape is fine, in regards to be hitting Torterra Super Effectively on the Fire side (Its already strong against it regardless). However, the issues is with Empoleon being part Steel that forces Torterra to be part Ground, since Steel resists Grass making Grass neutral.
Thats where the pitfall is for this leak as well..
Serperior cannot hit Feraligatr Super Effectively, since Steel resists both Grass and Dragon.
Mega Chesnaught is S CLASS! Looks REALLY good!
I want normal Serperior to get a mega-evolution. I love it's normal form desing so much.

Were this rumor messes up, is that Gamefreak always makes sure one of the typings can hit the other Super Effectively, which means that if Feraligatr is Water/Steel, Serperior cannot be Grass/Dragon.
Look at the Sinnoh starters.
Empoleon being part Steel, forces Torterra to be part Ground or part Fighting, since Steel resists Grass and is only weak to Fighting and Ground.
But either way, amazing designs for both Serperior and Mega Chesnaught
Same with the regional dragapult. it's a reference to dex entry that states the dreepy line in ancient times were dragon water and they eventually went extinct into the ghost and dragonform something like that. At least I just feel like this game can't take place that long ago. You know? I'm pretty sure it says prehistoric times as well for the Dex entry

As a lifelong pokemon expert, I wanted to see the original version of Chessnaught and was very impressed by your version. He a chonky boy. Liking the sound effect and visual gags you've been inserting, and the cute lil Stern avatar is delightful.
As a huge fan of Chesnaught, personally my favorite malls starter, u did a great job, if legends Z-A came out, and that was the mega Chesnaught, I would be happy. Also I think u should rename the video to “How to make the player spend hours on picking a starter”, cause you are killing it on this starters so far, I’m excited to see the regional Blaziken design.
Oh my gosh! Thank you! Yeah I think pokemon does a good job on making less liked pokemon more viable with regional forms but we could always use more

Thank you for these redesigns because they all look amazing. Serperior is one of my favourite Pokémon and my 1st Shiny ever. As a French girl, I would have preferred a more "royal" design with a Louis XIV inspiration. But it is still excellent, congratulations!

I know how you feel, I mainly choose grass and water starter pokemon and I rarely choose fire starters. Still hoping what the starters will be for Z-A "if" or "when" we get more information this month.

These designs and Feraligatr are great. Especially Mega Chestnaught is amazing. It gives real Doedicerus vibes, which the normal design kinda misses. Please make more!
One thing I would prefer is Feraligatrs spear being replaced by something attached to its body like an extended body plate, simce Pokemon doesnt really do weapons like that often. But the current design is great too!!!!
Yeah i toyed with other ways to use the spear but last came to a loss. Consider it a stand in and pretend it’s something cooler
@thesterninator OH no its plenty cool! It's an amazing design, besides it's just a personal preference and even starters have had weapons like that! The design really is so good, I can't imagine I'll like the official water starter this much
I do think the Kalos starters will get Megas, they should have had them from the start
Serperior’s design was great and its stats where something it did kind of loose its spark when its speed went down and it’s going to seem like it’s no longer a speedy sweeper being able to take out opponents with good attacks but it’s not terrible balanced it’s just a little bit more in the mid section. But if this leak is true than hopefully it learn dragon dance, agility, and quiver dance so so it can gain some good speed and good attack and defense and I think that should make it even more dangerous than it was as a normal serperior. Mega Chestnaut wasn’t bad now that I look at I really don’t think theirs no other way to go for it’s designs but to be a ball it makes sense seeing as it’s most likely based of a pangolin it looks great.
If I were in charge of Mega Chestnaught's typing I would make it a Grass/Rock type to embrace that natural armor.
What if the new Legendary that is implied on the title's art is based on the Tarrasque from French lore? In French lore, the Tarrasque is a legendary dragon that is unstoppable until a saint comes along and recites holy scriptures to it and whack it on the nose. The Tarrasque is also a virtually invincible boss monster in D&D. So, it could be fun seeing an interpretation of the Tarrasque that could potentially show up as a Pokemon in Legends Z-A.

@@thesterninator Happy to help; Red over on Overly Sarcastic Productions did a video on the Tarrasque's story a while back, that could help act as a starting point.
Fantastic job! You're design for Mega Chestnaut is awesome! I feel very similar in regards to how og Chestnaut's design was executed, and I feel like your art really brought back what I was hoping for with the original design in a unique way!
You mentioned it in the video, that you were interested in ideas, even if they'll never be executed by Gamefreak themselves, I'd love to see your interpretation of mega Crabomidable if tackled with a similar thought process like you did with Chestnaut, perhaps returning some of the concepts it lost from Crabrawler upon evolution.

Give Mega Chestnaught the Heatproof ability so that it only takes 2x Damage to Fire and can't be burned. Then it will be a pretty good tank.
I'm really hoping for Feraligatr getting a mega and being water/dragon so it completes the Charizard and Sceptile and we have a starter of each type and each of the first 3 gens being dragon.

what do you use to draw
I use photoshop. I know there are probably better solutions, but I was trained on it and it works well with my editing software, Premiere Pro
Serperior is my favorite starter and dragon is my favorite typing, so I was STOKED to see this design. And I think the purple is perfect! Really brings in that sense of regality, and I honestly think it makes it more draconic-looking
