Holy Fu** ... just figured out his dad is Mike Minchinton! Can I come say hi someday? I'm coming from Idaho though, through a lot of great deserts on the way ... probably on an old battered klr650 ... no surfboard racks ... but maybe I can borrow a board? Got one of your boards a long time ago, maybe from George at the Robert August shop, fast, a little stiff - but I'm a short boarder, so what do I know? I ain't no pro ... but used to surf with Pat Downey and Bud Llamas? Back in the day ... before HB had houses ... nothing but oil wells, tar on the beach, the Golden Bear, working at a little body shop on 3rd street, the old library, with the big cracked liberty bell, we lived across the street in a house my dad got for 16k ... playing sand crab dogs in the shorebreak at 4 years old ... surfing the storm that busted the end cafe off, on a 5'7 twin fin ... oh yeah, couldn't drop anything ... teenager with parties - 2 per block, cruising ... a lot of memories. Born there in 64 ... a lot of mother ocean ...
One of the most inspiring clips I ever seen. I droped a tear while watching this. No shit. Peace to you guys, you life the Dream. Greetings from Germany
OMG - amazing film... this took me back to the mid 70's.. north of Jeddah riding my bikes in the Arabian desert... thank you for bringing it all back and giving this old heart a young bump!
OMG..What a vid.. Lucky young man you are.. You can drop many of worries and stress there, the desert can handle them all..your compound is oasis..you can fill your emptiness..you don't know what is lay beneath it..
Oh, and I lived in Wrightwood with friends senior year, and graduated from P land high (Serrano) ... lots of time out in those deserts too - you are a little further north ... know the place well. Beer for breakfast, and beer for desert ...
It is in such movies that my life long dreams were born. I feel the nostalgia.. I feel the calling.. thank you for making me dream and long life to motocross!
Tell me if I remember right. It was the liquor store, then Plastic Fantastic, then the Infinity store and then maybe a clothes store, then the Greek Surfbords, Bob Boland, then I think on the opposite corner to where it is now, was Jack's surfboards. I can't remember up Main Street, but Robert August was up there somewhere. I can't even remember if I got your board at Infinity or Robert August. Doesn't matter ... thanks for the cool film!
And Bob Boland started Huntington Surf and Sport, on 17th street, and sold it to Erin (or Aaron?) ... Now, tall hotels, expensive houses, but the sand and waves are the same ...
dos meras leyendas, y saber que pasaron por mi lindo país el del pura vida Costa Rica, un día voy a conocer a Forrest, el tiene la vida que yo quiero tener cuando sea grande, riding dirtbikes and surfing, nada más sólo eso
