Street racers shut down Jacksonville highway to perform car stunts during 'highway takeover'

- Shutting down the highway for street racing, videos posted online over the weekend show cars blocking traffic and doing donuts on I-295 on Jacksonville’s westside. This video is now helping police with their investigation and officers tell News4JAX they’ll soon be arresting some of the drivers. That's not street racing. Street racers go to great lengths not to call attention to themselves. That's a bunch of clowns doing doughnuts and wasting their mommy's and daddy's money.
How is this street racing? It's fools doing donuts in the road. No reaction time, no ET, no start n finish line. This is NOT street racing.

On May 20,2023 about 3:45p there were nine motorcycles doing something similar on Lem Turner between Henry Katie Elementary School and Roses Discount store. Always to Capper Rd. Traffic was back up.
Wow... I am a car guy but.....that's so stupid and ignorant. The law should be ....you do that dumb 💩......impound the car, revoke license and go to jail for at least one year....
Felons, every single one of them. If they are not 21 years of age and still living with parents/guardians, they should also be fined and the drivers and participants should be charged as adults regardless of age and sentenced accordingly! At the very least, vehicles impounded and driver's licenses suspended for 5 years. None of this first offense spanked wrist silliness! These dangerous revelers are responsible for many potential difficulties experienced by those they blocked from travel!

@@hiswheeler wish they would but they keep letting them go. 2 of them live in my neighborhood, have current fleeing and eluding cases against them and are getting slaps on the wrist while they're still out there doing this. I saw both of them in the video.

This is a simple solution,govern hoursepower and speed capabilities on all vehicle just like the big truck industry..Why sell vehicles that have the capabilities speeds to go over 150 mph, when the speed limits are 70 to 80 by law?.
Never gonna happen. Nobody will ever convince auto manufacturers to do that. That may be "simple" but it's not realistic.

All I see is a couple of cars doing burn outs. There is no shut down, no traffic backed up and some of these old fogies in the comment section act like they were never young before.

OK, when I was young in Jacksonville if we pulled this kind of stunt we would be in jail, we would not go home that evening, in fact it would've probably started with a citizens arrest, they would sell our cars at the farmers market, you young folks have crossed the line.

Blk people?🙄..The car manufacturers sell vehicle that have the capabilities of going over 150 mph,when the state laws speed limits are 70-80 mph...The car manufacturers advertise vehicles stocked with 500-800 horse power,a simple solution would be govern all manufactured vehicle just like the trucking industry..Why allow vehicles to come from the manufacturers with 150 mph on the speed odometer?..that's not blk people that's the car manufacturers knowing the states will make money from speeding tickets all across america.
