One of my favorite poco albums. This is a great resource to learn this classic song. Thanks for the lesson and tips.

That was excellent. Thank you so much for posting that! That’s one of my all-time favorite albums and I wanted to learn it on guitar, so I appreciate it.

Great lesson, and it's wonderful to see someone cover this classic Poco tune. They must surely be THE most underrated band of all time. I transposed this exactly the same way as yourself, but it's nice to see someone else thinks the same way, many thanks.

This song has meant a lot to me and not just because it’s a great song. The harmonies are just gorgeous how they seem to flow effortlessly in and out, almost like breathing. The transition from the Gm7 to C has given me fits over the years and playing it out of D solved that. So, yes, I have absorbed your tutorial for days now and I am looking forward to bringing it to my jam group. Great job.

Dan, Thank you so much! I'm amazed that ANYONE ever found this helpful because I put nearly ZERO effort into this video! Watching it again, I'm honestly ashamed that it is of such poor quality and disorganized thought. Thinking about re-recording it, this time with significantly more effort.

I really need to redo this. It was a spur of the moment thing without much thought or effort! I didn't even mention that Poco tuned down a half step, explaining WHY it was in Db!

I finally figured this song out and your version confirms it. I play it in D also but alternate from D to Dmaj7. This has been so helpful and wonder why no one has posted this song and "Spellbound" in Ultimate Guitar Tabs. Maybe I should get up off my butt and do it. Anyone got Spellbound figured out?

Bill, thank you for your kind comments. I'm a bit ashamed of the tiny bit of pathetic effort I put into this song and video. I never dreamed anyone would really care! Indian Summer has been one of my favorite songs for a very long time. I have NOT worked on Spellbound but would be interested in doing so when time allows. Poco used some incredibly creative chords and voicings back in the day, so it would be interesting to see what they did with Spellbound. Did you see my video and TAB for the Indian Summer solo? I actually put a fair amount of effort in that one! ;-)

@@gitarbob Yes, I did and you did a great job. I played this song this past weekend for some friends and even though I stumbled on the last verse, it was received well. I wish Paul C or you would explore "Coast is Clear" CD because I think that's one of the finest recordings ever.

Thanks Tommy! I haven't put up any tutorials for a couple reasons; First, I'm too old to deal with trolls! Second, I don't want to join the thousands of others who don't really know what the heck they're talking about and make a public spectacle of my incompetence! It's good to know I could do something positive for the guitar community! Thank you so much for your positive feedback.

so if you wanted to play along with the record and you had your little tuner on top of your guitar you would just basically tune each string down one hole step to get to the D??
I like that neck guitar pretty cool

Kev, Poco played this in Db, so you would tune down a Half Step. Instead of E,A,D,G,B,E it would be Eb/D#, Ab/G#, Db/C#, Gb/F#, Bb/A#, Eb/D# .... after which your normal D chord is now Db. I hope you have a chromatic tuner that will allow you to tune to half-step intervals. My headless guitar is a Kiesel Vader and I love the little thing! Very lightweight, incredibly easy to play, never goes out of tune and sounds amazing (even when I'm playing it).
