There can never be a track with a composition like this, i often ask folks when i show them music like this ""what emotions/thoughts do you feel when you hear this ? "" and if their eye movements and facial expressions change pondering the question i just asked them, then you know you got a damn good composition on your hands !
I love vildhjarta and have since their last album came out... I think this is their best song so far but I havent heard the rest of the EP. Still, this is amazing.
That sucks! I have a good 40 or so hours in it and I thought it was fantastic. Totally tension building stuff when you play alone. Sorry you didn't have a good time with the game.
This is a complete progression, never doubt Vildhjarta's musical growth. This is brilliant. Just enough to make me want more without building expectations for the remaining tracks, well played.
As far as transitions go, perhaps keeping it all acoustic or distorted ran together & giving it that abrupt change added dynamic to the song. Their guitar tone is amazing, instead of shoving razors into your ears with high frequencies they lull you in the mid section. May sound a little flat but the bass guitar picks up the bottom end & the drums/cymbals shine & snap a little more by picking up the high end. Let us not forget the kick that hammers.
Just awesome. It's not often that I'm actually surprised by this particular brand of metal anymore, but Vildhjarta is one of the few bands (along with Meshuggah) that still manages to do so. Keep it up guys!
***** It sounds to me like a super compressed acoustic guitar with a direct input. Maybe some sort of acoustic with nylon strings. I've never really heard any kind of chorus effect like this, I've been playing guitar for 14 years. Unless I missed some sort of acoustic pre-amp effect, which would be sick.
mikeyxbriches Nope they used their normal guitars with Lundgren M7 pickups. According the guy who mixed/mastered the EP it is electric guitar DI into an acoustic simulator.
Nunca esqueço a primeira vez que escutei essa música, eu estava completamente chapado e tive o prazer de cair nesse universo em forma de música. Lembro que fiquei viajando no som e no clip também, demorei para sair daquela viagem...
all you guys saying negative things have to realize that the focus of this track isnt crushing guitars, its most likely going to lead into another song seeing as the guitars on the end of the track are filtered and dont sound full, its a common technique.
Sounds to me (based on the various teasers floating around) that this EP will be something of a concept that self-references between tracks. Really looking forward to hearing this track in context!
I think I just acquired a new taste for this band. Despite its simplicity, something about this track really captures the aesthetic I wanted to get from Vildhjarta. I hope the new album is interlaid throughout with this dense, brooding, clean-guitar easy listening. I realize they've done it a lot in the past, but this feels a lot fuller, and I like that they dedicated a whole song to this sort of sound, even if its purpose is to conclude or lead into another song.
you'd be surprised how they record . alot of the best tones we hear now a days come out of a small compact wattage amp . and they overdub their guitar tracks so some tones are impossible to mimic due to studio processing .
It is awesome seeing music nerds try to define what this band does. They obviously think far differently from the common musician that has education in theory and are that much better because of it.
The first part of the song sounds to me to be in the key of G harmonic minor. 2:45 onwards is D phrygian dominant. Though they just as easily could be aeolian, phrygian or chromatic tonalities (shit's tuned loooow brah). The root note at 2:50 is definitely a D1 though so I'd guess they were tuned to D1 (which is crazy because I can't stand anything lower than a .52 for a D2 so they must be using a longer scale 7/8 with at least a bass string on the lowest haha)
Part of this reminds me so much of the song Raise the Sun by Anciients... both are fucking beautiful songs with amazing groove. I'm not too much into Anciients though, I need to listen more. Vildhjarta is one of my favorites.
The tone is not meant to be heard, rather felt. In a listening context, you know, not live; yes, tone matters? They are doing their best to reproduce something created in reality and experimenting with the instruments and the recording gear.
I get decent miking that amp with my 8 string and some digital eq and compression stuff, still a ways from this but it's sounding pree good. my band mate let me borrow his THD head and orange cab though so I'm stoked and set now
as much as i love this............ this is a reason to never take a single prog song out of place, because this could be a conclusion of a build up to another BRUTAL as fuck track so its just out of context but still fucking awesome
I think a lot of you are forgetting Omnislash. Masstaden and the music they came out with before, sounded totally different. While this is definitely original, Masstaden wasn't really them I felt. It was a good album, but it seemed really experimental and different from their older sound. This sounds like they're going back to a more original approach. I have a feeling that we're gonna get a really good blend of old and new with this upcoming EP.
it's a different distortion then the rest of the album to fit the song and to end side a, we are so hipster we have to think in terms of vinyl lenghts now ^^ /bergström
As they've grown in popularity so has the abundant use of the word Barely anyone said thall when the demos were circulating, now they can't do anything without a literal blitzkrieg of the damn word
really. cool. what would they overdub them with? I make an attempt at thall myself on some of my songs, would love any pointers. I can get a dece tone out of my randall 75 watt solid state with large and small diaphragm condenser mics, any tips on how to progress to a more masstaden like tone?
damn coming back to this, i feel like i just realized that tosin kinda ripped off the acoustic intro of this track on Paramexer from TJOM.. could be wrong, but those strumming patterns & the key seem very similar lol
This will forever be a new track
Yes indeed Thall!
Forever the best track*
2018 and it's Still new
fuck you! youre not even my real dad!
I wish I was stoned.
Iconic dark sound without distortion.
Pure brilliance.
Its honestly my favorite part of the band. I dig their heavy stuff. but i could listen to a whole album like this.
***** An entire album like this would be so sick.
+Tyler Cox I wish...
Definitely some distortion towards the end, but yeah, you're spot on with the beginning.
I didn't realize that music like this could exist
+Keith Reece I did. I've spent my entire adult life searching for it... and I believe there's more to discover.
point me in the direction that you're going.
+Keith Reece He died.
Omega Virus is pretty sick.
@@YaBoiKeith pretty late comment but I recommend fractalize if you haven't heard of them already
Heard it on release still to this day one of my favorite instrumentals ever
Same!
For real, both this and Focus snippet are still in my favorites ever
I want this song to be the start of a new genre, one of the coolest songs I've heard all year.
Thall
this comment aged so well
When your wish becomes reality
This song is still vastly different than most thall as it's mostly acoustic guitar and piano, with a chunky ass bass.
Wish more metal groups did stuff like this

this song is purifying in a dark sense
like finding pleasure in the darkness
Nyctophilia
it's a dark atmosphere but yet instrospectvily enlightening
***** Laradjentz saywut Julian Jensen always nice to see that art can indeed touch deeper!
Well, dimman is meant to be the plural of the swedish word dimma, which means to darken
@@TheChazz1225 Whatchu talking bout? Dimman means the fog
4 years later, its still a new track. damn century media
it'll stay like that for a century
This song gives me a vibe I’m unable to describe
That vibe is called thall
Whoever produced this has done an amazing job.
I love vildhjarta and have since their last album came out... I think this is their best song so far but I havent heard the rest of the EP. Still, this is amazing.
The way you out your soul and your own interpretation of the groove is so amazing. New fan!! Keeo killing it brother
this song makes me wanna explore a cave
Ha! Gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Nullll1111 HA! OLD MEME
play the forest.
Nick Myers i did, and its boring.
That sucks!
I have a good 40 or so hours in it and I thought it was fantastic. Totally tension building stuff when you play alone.
Sorry you didn't have a good time with the game.
So obsessed with the passage at 1:40
This is a complete progression, never doubt Vildhjarta's musical growth. This is brilliant. Just enough to make me want more without building expectations for the remaining tracks, well played.
This is the newest track I ever heard.
This should have been the opening track for True Detective on HBO... but the 1st season only
that actually wouldnt be too bad
Make the speed 2x.
Go to 2:45.
Call the ambulance
from the begining sounds like an animals as leaders song , pretty cool!
1.5x is better :D
0.5x devil speak to you
shsYoshik fuck i agree with this
Never understood why people think fast stuff is heavier than slow stuff
As far as transitions go, perhaps keeping it all acoustic or distorted ran together & giving it that abrupt change added dynamic to the song.

May sound a little flat but the bass guitar picks up the bottom end & the drums/cymbals shine & snap a little more by picking up the high end. Let us not forget the kick that hammers.
This is kinda like lo-fi Animals as Leaders, love it
Very reminiscent of the album Weightless
Just awesome. It's not often that I'm actually surprised by this particular brand of metal anymore, but Vildhjarta is one of the few bands (along with Meshuggah) that still manages to do so. Keep it up guys!
2024 still a absolute banger
Yet a new track in 2024
How the FUCK do you make an acoustic guitar thall. This is absolute witchery.
***** It sounds to me like a super compressed acoustic guitar with a direct input. Maybe some sort of acoustic with nylon strings. +S1L3nCe It's an acoustic guitar :) an ovation with a preamp
Thall. Probably my top favorite of Vildhjarta.
The new EP comes out one day after my birthday, woop. Thank You Vildhjarta for an amazing b-day present!!!
This is so....hypnotic. Everything they've revealed so far for this record has been insane
such a unique song, love it
I listened to this like 10 times in a row.
8 Years, an it is still a new track, fellas
"Dimman" means "The Fog" in Swedish.
Takk. I was just about to look that up.
@HeyPeni Definitely means the fog
Fog means Tooth in Hungarian
@@solari251 toot means strawberry in hebrew
Dimman means a very stoned, faded person in English

Can't help but replaying from 2:45 to the end of the song. So good!
this is the first song i ever heard by these guys, been a fan ever since, thall
Liking the new sound. I'm sure this song will have its place perfectly along with the rest of the EP
I'm going to get this EP and the album next year, this band has taken Djent to the next level 2:45
Awesome, vildhjarta again proves, they are not afraid to experiment :-) Amazing sound and atmosphere
acoustic.... still does DJENT
Fractals in melodical motion...
This is just amazing. I cannot believe how far this band has come. Fucking love this!
The evil is strong in this one
What makes it evil?? Tell me
Ger Unkwon all bout the perception
Mad Max Well, to me it sounds happy. Like im prancing in a field of daisies
***** So....I've heard many songs that are happy, minor or major. It isn't the key that creates a happy song. It's the chord progression.
***** I'm fine with that. In my opinion and perception, i just think its happy. We cool?
So good...soo sooooo good...Thall shalt agree.
The djentleness of nature.
So good.
Have no idea how Daniel does this .... Fucking incredible.. thall 🎸🎼🤘

Oh my God it worked! Demand things nicely my friends. It pays off 😂
Finally, I knew this was going to be a breath of fresh air.
Me smoking out with my Jamaican friend:
Are you faded yet?

A different side of Vildhjarta.
Excited for this release.
We deserve an A.I. generated video for this song

I NEED MORE!!!!
Want to know what drugs feel like? Set speed to 2x
This is so much better now!!
Weeaboo Destroyer The ending sounds pretty sick at 1.25x
Gene Brady sounds like Meshuggah with 1.25x
Keaton Haas Yep it's definitely more towards a meshuggah vibe at that speed
Weeaboo Destroyer Yo, 1.5 is the shit!
How the fuck does a track like this exists? gawd damn this is nice
I have always liked Vildhjarta because their mix is always punchy!
The comments here are so original, everyone clearly has something deep and meaningful to say.
I Really hope you guys are planing on releasing new music soon, im tired of waiting. ( i will wait :( ..........)
Rip
Rip
despite Thousands of Evils grow on me after some time it's saddens me that time of instrumental Vildhjarta is over.
this could be a Animals as Leaders song tbh :) i love it !
I can feel that darkness is crawling inside me during this song

Yes, Monuments, Periphery, Tesseract, Born of Osiris, all great Djent bands but without Meshuggah, there wouldn't be djent
Also check out bands like Volumes,Veil of Maya, animals as leaders ect...
Humanity's Last Breath
This sounds nothing like Humanity's Last Breath.
I think he means this sound, not writing style. I've yet to find anything similar.
+Ashton Rose yeah I actually got a reply I asked him on Facebook ha.
