The term Nubian is misleading. Ancient Kushites are called Nubians by Egyptologists and modern Arabs use to describe Southern Egyptians. I think it's fair to just call them Egyptians period.

Ancient Egyptian where near eastern looking and the Nubians where more East African looking. Ancient Egyptian more centralized and developed than the Nubians, which lead to lot of hostility between the groups, where the ancient Egyptian saw the Nubians as basically savages in need of conquest, and the Nubians saw the Egyptian as foreign invader trying to destroy there way of life. Ultimately the Egyptian succeed when they burn the capital of the Nubians to the ground, which lead to the colonization of Nubians land and the subjection of it’s people. But something funny happen during this time, rather than the eradication of Nubian culture, Nubians ended up getting heavily influenced by the Egyptian one, to the point where the Nubians where basically worshiping the gods as the Egyptian. So when the Nubians got their independence from a decaying Egypt, rather than continue their own civilization, they invade Egypt and conquer it (kingdom of kush). This was very bizarre given that the Nubians where basically conquering Egypt not for land or gold, but for religion. This was the very first time the Nubians and Egyptian shard something in common, the ancient Egyptian religion. This could be seen with how the Nubian pharaohs built and restored many temples through out the kingdom (this lead to the building of the Sudanese pyramids). This event was very weird for the Egyptian, given that foreigner rule Egypt and rather than do typically conquer stuff, they where more focus on a Egyptian religion culture renaissance.
